(Minghui.org) A 60-year-old woman in Huludao City, Liaoning Province was sentenced to three years on August 9, 2025 for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Zhu Yun was arrested on March 2, 2025, after being reported by Li Lingling, the director of Xinhua Residential Community, for putting up Falun Gong posters. The posters and Falun Gong pendants she had with her were confiscated by the arresting officers Li Jian and Zhang Haisheng from Huagong Street Police Station.
Prosecutor Du Yang of Lianshan District Procuratorate indicted Ms. Zhu on April 29, 2025. During her hearing by the Lianshan District Court on August 5, she refused to answer any questions and maintained that she didn’t violate any law in practicing Falun Gong or telling others about it. Judge Wang Yueqiu convicted her days later.
Ms. Zhu is still being held at the Huludao City Detention Center. It’s not clear when the authorities plan to transfer her to the prison.
Prior to her latest arrest, Ms. Zhu served 23 months of forced labor between October 2000 and September 2002. Fearing being implicated in the persecution, her first husband divorced her in 2002. She married a Falun Gong practitioner, Mr. Huang Lizhong, in 2006. Unfortunately, he was arrested in August 2008 and tortured to death in prison two years later, in October 2010, at the age of 45. Ms. Zhu was arrested again in July 2014 and later sentenced to six years. She was brutally tortured in prison and given toxic drugs. She developed a mental disorder as a result, but managed to gradually recover after she was released from prison.
