The Netherlands: People Condemn the Persecution of Falun Dafa During March in Amsterdam

(Minghui.org) Practitioners held a march and rally in the capital city Amsterdam, on Sunday, August 10, 2025 to call for an end to the persecution of Falun Dafa. Amnesty International Netherlands and Human Rights Without Borders Netherlands sent letters of support. Visitors from around the world praised Falun Dafa. The Amsterdam police expressed their support and praised practitioners for being the friendliest group that they've worked with.

The rally was held at Dam Square, home to the Royal Palace. One of three palaces in the Netherlands, the Royal Palace boasts classical architecture that dates back to the mid-17th century. It is a renowned tourist destination and attracts tourists from around the world.

Rally to End the Persecution Receives Support

At 12:10 p.m., the Tian Guo Marching Band started off the event by performing “Falun Dafa Is Good.” After practitioners did the exercises, the march started off from Dam Square.

Practitioners carried banners with the messages of “Falun Dafa Is Good,” “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance Is Good,” “End the Persecution of Falun Dafa,” “Stop the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) Forced Organ Harvesting,” and “The 26th Anniversary of Falun Dafa’s Efforts to End the Persecution.”

The march passed the Kloveniersburgwal, east of Amsterdam’s city center and Nieuwmarkt, entered Chinatown and passed by Damrak, which is in front of the central train station, before returning to Dam Square. Many people stopped to watch and accepted informational flyers.

Ms. KaYan Wong, Director of the Falun Dafa Association of the Netherlands, addressed the rally and said, “Falun Gong, also called Falun Dafa, guides people to cultivate based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, enabling 100 million practitioners to achieve physical and mental health and improve their moral standards. The CCP began to suppress Falun Gong in 1999. The suppression has been going on for 26 years. Practitioners are brutally tortured, subjected to forced organ harvesting and even lost their lives. The CCP has now extended the persecution overseas, manipulating the media to defame and slander Falun Gong.” She called on the CCP to stop the persecution of Falun Dafa immediately.

Stichting Mensenrechten Zonder Grenzen Nederland from Human Rights Without Borders Netherlands and Amnesty International Netherlands sent letters to show their support for the practitioners’ efforts to end the persecution.

Hans Noot is the Director of the Human Rights Without Borders Netherlands, and he mentioned in his letter that no one should be silenced by foreign forces, not in the Netherlands or anywhere else. He said, “Today, we gather in Amsterdam to support the Falun Dafa practitioners’ 26 years of resistance to the persecution. We pledge to continue amplifying your voices until justice is served.”

Amnesty International Netherlands wrote in the letter that the CCP leaders viewed Falun Gong’s growing popularity as a threat to the CCP’s atheist ideology and in July 1999, ordered a complete ban on Falun Gong, beginning the persecution of those who persisted in practicing it. Thousands of Falun Gong practitioners have been confirmed dead as a result of this persecution, but the actual death toll is far higher due to the CCP’s information blockade. In recent years, the CCP has engaged in smear campaigns against the Falun Gong community overseas, and insiders have revealed that senior CCP leaders, including Xi Jinping himself, are behind these actions. We strongly condemn the CCP’s persecution of Falun Dafa and call on the CCP to end the persecution, stop the killings and the transnational repression.

A practitioner who escaped from China described the cruel torture, unjust imprisonment, mental attacks, and economic persecution that he and his family suffered from for more than twenty years. He called on all sectors of society to pay attention to Falun Dafa practitioners in China and work together to stop the persecution.

Educator Praises Falun Dafa’s Guiding Principles

Sebastian said, “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is filled with benevolence and tolerance!”

Sebastian, a tourist from Germany who is engaged in international cultural competence education for students from Asian countries, said that he knew Falun Dafa is suppressed in China, “I know that Falun Dafa is being persecuted by the Chinese government and I also know that this is a practice that is very good for obtaining a healthy mind and body.”

He was shocked to learn that the persecution has been going on for 26 years. When talking about the values of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, Sebastian said, “I know these principles are full of benevolence and tolerance.”

Swedish Tourist: “The Persecution Should Stop!”

Frank Johnson from Sweden condemned the persecution

Frank Johnson from Sweden said he knew about the brutal persecution that Falun Dafa practitioners are going through in China. He said, “This it horrendous. The persecution should stop!” He praised the Falun Dafa practitioners’ parade and rally to end the persecution, “Very beautiful, very wonderful! I like your music (performance by the Tian Guo Marching Band). This kind of method is very peaceful. I can feel the power of perseverance!”

Tourists Silva and Niklas watched the march and listened to the speeches. They said that they were very impressed.

Silva said this was the first time she has heard this information, and talking with a practitioner helped her to have a more complete understanding of Falun Dafa’s principles and background for the first time. She said, “I feel this is a peaceful group. Not only do they exercise to keep fit and maintain health, they also emphasize cultivating the heart. Falun Dafa promotes Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and these are very good values.”

University student Nicholas said that the persecution of Falun Dafa has already gone on for 26 years. However, it’s not possible to see factual reports about the practice in the Chinese media. This made him feel surprised and disappointed. “These people just want to be good people. The CCP’s spreading (negative news) should stop.” He also said, “So many years have passed, yet many people still don’t know the truth. Raising the public’s awareness about this matter is very important, as this is the only way to push for change.”

They both thought that peace and compassion should not be suppressed. They also expressed their affirmation for the way Falun Dafa practitioners tell people about the persecution and hope that more people can think independently and learn the facts.

A young man from China was surprised to see the rally and talked to a practitioner. The practitioner told him that these people are all Falun Dafa cultivators who came from different countries. They came here to express their opposition to the CCP’s suppression. He said that he did not know about the practice, and thus did not know about the persecution that Falun Dafa is going through. He wants to find out more about it.
