Tonghua City, Jilin Province: 9 Arrested in 3 Days for Their Faith in Falun Gong

(Minghui.org) Several police stations and street committees in Tonghua City, Jilin Province, were mobilized in May 2025 to arrest at least nine locals in three days for their faith in Falun Gong. The Tonghua City 610 Office and Political and Legal Affairs Committee orchestrated the arrests.

7 Arrested on May 13

Guangming Police Station officers arrested Ms. Wang Xinxiang and confiscated her Falun Gong books, computer, printer, and other valuables. She was taken to the Xishan Brainwashing Center the next day, May 14. The police took her to the Tonghua Chinese Medicine Hospital for a physical exam on May 28 and put her in the Tonghua City Detention Center afterward.

About six officers from the Tuanjie Police Station pried open a couple’s door at around 4 p.m. on May 13 and confiscated many personal belongings, including over 80 Falun Gong books, 10 pictures of Falun Gong’s founder, 2 Falun images, a laptop, over 100 copies of Minghui Weekly, 2 music players, 10 old cell phones, and one MP3 player.

The husband, Mr. Pang Zengde, was so terrified that he fainted in the police station. When the police took his blood pressure, his systolic pressure was over 200 mmHg (normal is 120 mmHg or lower). They let his wife, Ms. Pang Guihua, notify a relative to pick Mr. Feng up at midnight. Ms. Pang was taken to the Tonghua City Lockup that night after an interrogation. She was detained for 10 days and released on May 23.

When Mr. Ding Yan’gang opened his door after 10 a.m. on May 13, Jiangdong Police Station officers barged in. They were soon joined by their police chief and street committee staffers. They raided the home and confiscated a laptop, 3,200 yuan in cash, two sets of Falun Gong books, and a portrait of Falun Gong’s founder.

Mr. Ding was taken to the Xishan Brainwashing Center. On May 28, he was given a physical exam at the Tonghua Chinese Medicine Hospital. The Tonghua City Detention Center refused to admit him after noting his high blood pressure readings. He was released under house arrest that day.

The Longquan Police Station was responsible for Ms. Wang Qingfang’s arrest on May 13. They confiscated her Falun Gong books and other valuables. After an interrogation at the police station, Ms. Wang was taken to the Tonghua Chinese Medicine Hospital for a physical exam. The Tonghua City Detention Center declined to admit her after reviewing her checkup results. She was released that day.

Ms. Shi Guifang was arrested on May 13 by officers from the Laozhan Police Station. Her home was ransacked and she was taken to the Tonghua Chinese Medicine Hospital in the afternoon for a physical exam. She was released on May 18 after five days in the Tonghua City Lockup.

Also arrested on May 13 was a practitioner surnamed Chen, who is in his 70s. He was taken to the Xishan Brainwashing Center.
