(Minghui.org) Numerous Falun Gong practitioners have been sentenced since the Chinese Communist Party launched a nationwide campaign that targets their faith in July 1999. The regime does not spare elderly practitioners. Minghui.org has reported on many such cases. This report presents a list of 11 recent cases concerning octogenarians.
Ms. Ma Tongxin, 80 from Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, was made to complete a 1.5-year sentence despite persistent rectal bleeding. She died on June 2, 2025, 18 months after she was released.
Ms. Ma Junting, 86 from Tai’an City, Shandong Province, died in 2025, two months after she was sent to prison to re-serve a 3.5-year sentence given in June 2019 that she was allowed to serve at home.
Ms. Wang Guixia, 81 from Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, was not the same person when she completed a 15-month prison term in May 2025. She was emaciated and weak and her legs were severely swollen. Once cheerful and outgoing, she was withdrawn and timid. She also suffered from mental fatigue and had difficulty focusing.
Mr. Li Decheng, 80, from Dehui City, Jilin Province, was recently sent to the Tiebei Prison in Changchun City to serve a four-year term, which stemmed from his arrest in February 2023.
Mr. Liu Shurong, 81, from Chongqing, is serving a three-year term at the Yongchuan Prison. He is expected to be released in June 2027.
Ms. Wu Qingzhi, a Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, resident in her late 80s, was sentenced to one year by the Nanming District Court in 2025.
Mr. Jia Yuhe, 81, from Yantai City, Shandong Province, was admitted to prison in April 2025 to serve a three-year term given in 2018 that had been postponed due to his poor health. The prison guards forced him to sit on a small stool for long hours every day. He passed out twice but was denied parole.
Ms. Liu Huiju, 83, from Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province, was admitted to prison on July 31, 2025 to start serving a 1.5-year term given in late 2021.
Ms. Liu Chunping, 85, from Jinan City, Shandong Province, was admitted to prison in July 2025 to serve a one-year term given in September 2022 that had been postponed due to her poor health.
Ms. Han Yuehua, 84, and Ms. Lu Keqin, 78, were admitted to prison in February 2025 to serve a 3.5-year sentence given in June 2019. Both residents of Tai’an City, Shandong Province, were allowed to serve time at home but were made to re-serve the expired term.
