(Minghui.org) A woman in Dehui City, Jilin Province, was sentenced to four years because she practices Falun Gong, Minghui.org learned recently.

Ms. Wang Shumin, in her 50s, was a temporary worker at the Dehui City Bureau of Commerce before she retired. She was arrested on March 11, 2024 during a police sweep of local Falun Gong practitioners. Gu Min from the Dehui City Police Department, ordered the arrests.

Ms. Wang’s Falun Gong books were confiscated and she was put in the Dehui City Detention Center. It is unclear when she was indicted, tried, or sentenced.

Ms. Wang is not the only local Falun Gong practitioner who was arrested in recent years and sentenced for her faith.

The police arrested at least 13 practitioners on February 25, 2023. Eight of them have been sentenced to prison. Mr. Li Decheng, 80, was given four years. Mr. Zheng Yuming and Ms. Su Cuizhi each received seven years. Ms. Wang Yufen, Mr. Guo Encai, and Ms. Liu Zhongrong, a physician, were each given two years. Ms. Xie Yunxiang and Ms. Wang Guiying were sentenced to 5 years and 10 months, respectively.

Mr. Wang Yuliang, in his 50s, was arrested on March 11, 2024 and sentenced to four years.

Ms. Wang Baoru, 58, was arrested on July 2, 2023 and later sentenced to 4.5 years.
