Additional Persecution News from China – August 19, 2025 (12 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 14 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhai Shanyong Arrested

Mr. Zhai Shanyong was arrested by Zaoyuan Town Police Station officers on the morning of July 30, 2025. He has been admitted to a detention center.

2. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Yujiao Taken to Prison

Ms. Li Yujiao, 72, was arrested several years ago and had her home ransacked by Badahu Police Station officers for telling people about Falun Gong in a restaurant. She was subsequently sentenced to one year by Shibei District Court, which wasn’t enforced immediately due to her poor health. But she was admitted to a prison recently to serve time.

3. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Fang Lei Arrested

Mr. Fang Lei was arrested in his rental room on August 12, 2025.

4. [Shuozhou City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Wang Xiaomei Detained

Ms. Wang Xiaomei was arrested at home by officers from Shuocheng District Police Department and Domestic Security Division on the afternoon of July 23, 2025. Her two guests, Ms. Zhu Cuiying and Xie Jin, who were there to study Falun Gong teachings together, were also arrested.

Ms. Zhu and Xie were released on on August 7 and 8, respectively. Ms. Wang remains detained.

5. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Chen Yan Sentenced to Five Years in Prison

Ms. Chen Yan was sentenced to five years in prison and fined 5,000 yuan by Xihu District Court on June 26, 2025. The Benxi City Intermediate Court has accepted her appeals on August 15.

6. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Shen Meiyin Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Shen Meiyin was sentenced to three years and six months in prison on July 25, 2025. She is now awaiting the result of her appeals case.

7. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Zhang Shoujun Arrested

Mr. Zhang Shoujun was arrested and had his home ransacked by Fengrun District Police Station officers on December 28, 2024. He was held at the Fengrun District Detention Center and has been detained.

8. [Beizhen City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Zhixia Released After Serving 1.5 Years

Ms. Wang Zhixia was arrested on January 12, 2024 and later sentenced to one year and six months by Linghai City Court. She has been released from the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison in July 2025.

9. [Guangshui City, Hubei Province] Mr. Chen Quanlong Arrested

Mr. Chen Quanlong was arrested by Guangshui City Domestic Security Division officers after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong in late July 2025. He was placed under residential surveillance after he failed the physical exam for detention center admission.

10. [Beijing] Ms. Zhang Aijuan Harassed

Ms. Zhang Aijuan was harassed at home by Li Manfu and other officers from the Binhe Police Station on August 5, 2025. They questioned her whether she still practiced and whether she had any Falun Gong books at home. They also ordered her to sign statements to renounce Falun Gong. She refused to comply.

11. [Tianjin] Ms. Wang Aixia Arrested

As soon as Ms. Wang Aixia in Nankai District opened her door on the morning of April 17, 2025, eight officers from Hongqiao District Domestic Security Division and the Xiyuzhuang Police Station rushed in. They forcibly searched her and her bag. Her five Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, paper bills with Falun Gong information printed on them, a cell phone, and a laptop were confiscated. She was taken to Hongqiao District Detention Center for interrogation and released that evening.

The police delivered a 15-day detention notice to Ms. Wang on May 12 and didn’t enforce it.

12. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Jianrong Arrested Twice in a Month

Ms. Liu Jianrong was reported to the police when putting up Falun Gong materials in June 2025. She was followed and arrested by the police. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated two large boxes of Falun Gong books, printed materials, a laptop, and a printer.

Ms. Liu was arrested again on July 22, 2025, by officers from Xigang District Domestic Security Division and Rixin Sub-district Police Station. She was taken to Dalian City Second Lockup for 15 days.
