(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners held a march in central Vancouver on August 24, 2025, to call attention to and help end the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) 26-year-long persecution. They also congratulated the 450 million people who quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations. Many people said they were sad to hear of the CCP’s atrocities and indignant about its transnational repression. They expressed their support for Falun Dafa practitioners’ efforts to expose the persecution. Some Chinese people renounced the CCP organizations during the event.
March in Vancouver, Canada on August 24, 2025 celebrates the 450 million Chinese people who quit the CCP.
It was sunny in Vancouver that day. Escorted by police cars, the march departed from the south plaza of the Vancouver Art Gallery at 11:00 a.m. Accompanied by the Tian Guo Marching Band’s music and various banners, the procession slowly passed through Vancouver’s bustling streets, passing by Canada Place, the Five Sails Hotel, the Gastown Steam Clock, Waterfront Station, and other famous landmarks.
Many people took photos and videos. Some, upon seeing banners reading “Disintegrate the CCP, Stop CCP Transnational Repression of Falun Gong,” gave practitioners a thumbs-up and applauded the procession. Some tourists said the CCP’s persecution is a shame, and that its transnational repression must stop.
Practitioners marched in Vancouver on August 24, 2025.
A woman from Shanghai watched the march. When a reporter greeted her, she covered her mouth, tears welling up in her eyes. After calming down a bit, the woman said she felt “very sad and upset” after carefully reading the messages on each banner. The banners read, “Chinese Communist Party Killed 80 Million Chinese,” “China: Stop Murdering for Organs,” “The CCP = Violence + Lies,” and “Persecution Will End When the CCP Ends.”
She called her husband, who didn’t understand why she was crying. “I’ll send the photos to you and you’ll understand,” she said. She then sent him the photos of the banners.
After learning about the CCP’s state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting that targets Falun Dafa practitioners and the CCP’s true nature, the woman, using an alias, withdrew from the Communist Young Pioneers and the Youth League, both of which she had joined.
Ms. Hsu from Taiwan also watched the march. She was happy to see the parade, but also stunned by the CCP’s brutality. Ms. Hsu said she knew about the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China, and visited the withdrawals website. She said the forced organ harvesting was horrible and should be stopped.
Hong Konger: The CCP Is a Massive Gang
Mr. Wu, from Hong Kong, said he was aware of the CCP’s brutality while he lived in Hong Kong, “People deserve freedom, but now Hong Kong doesn’t have it. It’s truly tragic. In just a few years, with the Umbrella Movement in 2019, freedom was gone in an instant.
“The CCP is truly awful. It doesn’t give people the most basic freedoms, democracy, or even the most fundamental human rights. The rulers don’t have the people’s authorization [meaning they were not elected].” He said the CCP only wants to maintain its power, and doesn’t respect human rights. “It’s a gang, a truly massive gang.” He said his father was an undercover member of the Party before the CCP seized power, and his family was later persecuted.
American Tourist: This Persecution Is a Shame
Mary and Chuck from Indiana, U.S.A.
Mary and Chuck from Indiana stopped and watched the march while they strolled through the center of Vancouver.
Mary said, “I think the event is great. The music is beautiful, and the people are friendly. They talked to us and helped us take photos, which is wonderful.” Chuck said, “We think it’s shameful that the [CCP] abused its power to launch this persecution, and it’s regrettable that it’s still happening.”
American Pastor: Transnational Repression Must Stop
Ken, a pastor from the southeastern United States, said, “Transnational repression is unfair. If someone comes to Canada, for example from Beijing, and their lives are threatened and interfered with by the CCP, I think what Beijing [authorities] are doing is wrong. I believe people should have freedom, and we support the Falun Gong group’s freedom.”
However, he said they had not heard of it until that day, nor had it appeared in any news reports. He said, “It’s great to let us know. We’re very grateful, and we will definitely share this information.”
As an American, he said, if the CCP threatened him, “I’d be scared, and I’d worry about my family. We would have to do the same thing—protest like they do and raise awareness. We must resist the CCP’s threats, and we have the right to choose.”
Regarding the 450 million Chinese who decided to withdraw from the CCP and its affiliated organizations, he said, “Yes, withdrawing from the CCP organizations that persecute people [is good] because it’s not good to be associated with them.”
