(Minghui.org) I have experienced a series of incidents in recent years, including my husband being persecuted, the police constantly harassing me, me resisting persecution through legal means, and clarifying the truth in police stations. This has been a difficult time for me, yet it has also been a process of eliminating my human attachments. I have let go of much of my fear and resentment, and have changed my mentality. I used to think that the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) law was only to serve the CCP. I now understand the significance of using the legal system to counter the persecution and save sentient beings.
My Husband was Harassed and Persecuted by the Police
My husband was released on bail pending trial several years ago after the police searched our home. He was forced to leave home when the police planned to persecute him further. The police came to harass us, and made phone calls to us constantly demanding that we tell them his whereabouts.
Facing their harassment, I tried to avoid them or accept it passively. I didn’t sign for any of the registered mail they sent, and I didn’t open my door for the police. I treated them with hostility. As a result the police became more aggressive, and harassed us more often. They even harassed other family members by phone. They threatened that they would sentence him even if they couldn’t find him. My family was under huge pressure and really fearful.
At the same time I had problems physically. My leg became more and more painful. I had difficulty climbing stairs and squatting. I didn’t know what to do.
Changing Human Notions and Resisting Persecution Using the Law
Officers both from the police station and the community center said that my problems had led to the persecution of my husband. I knew that this tribulation was caused because I spent too much time on my mobile and reading novels, and didn’t cultivate diligently. For the same reason, I didn’t know what to do. Because of my fear and human notions, I didn’t take any action to rescue my husband. I knew that no matter which way I chose to counter the persecution, I needed to study the Fa more and well, and rectify all sorts of abnormal states.
I studied Master’s lectures and articles systematically, and I read a lot of sharing articles on the Minghui website about practitioners utilizing the law to resist the persecution. I changed my notion that “the CCP’s law is only to serve the CCP.” Everything in this world exists for the Fa. The law doesn’t only serve the CCP. Like other practitioners have shared, I should use the law properly and in the right way to clarify the truth to people.
I decided to file a lawsuit against the police officers who were involved in persecuting my husband. Thanks to the help of practitioner lawyers, I prepared the legal documents and sent a copy to the local police station, the police station in charge of the case, the Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection, the municipal supervisory bureau, the community center, the petition office, and the municipal government, etc. When the time for their replies had passed, I started to make phone calls to them inquiring about the case. My fear and thought karma kept coming up while I made these phone calls. I felt huge pressure before I made each call. They refused to answer me directly, using every possible excuse. I made a few phone calls to the police station in charge of the case and asked when they would withdraw the case. The police station ordered the village committee to come to my home to harass me.
The officer from the village committee only asked me whether I still practiced Falun Gong, and then left. My fear arose again. I became afraid of making phone calls. My mind was not focused when I sent forth righteous thoughts. I looked within and found that I had become complacent because I felt that my complaint had prevented them from harassing me further, and I also had the heart of seeking revenge. Practitioners shared with me that I should go to the village committee to clarify the truth to the members. I took some materials with me and went to see the members. I pointed out to a committee member the illegal behavior of the officer in charge of the case, who replied that the police station was just going through their processes, and didn’t really mean to take me on.
What he said reinforced my confidence. I continued calling the local police department and the police station and requesting that they withdraw the case. Finally, I was asked to come talk to the officers in the local police station.
I drove to the police station the next day. The officer in charge saw me and was terrified and angry. I asked him to withdraw the case. He said that he couldn’t. He was very rude and didn’t talk to me much. He said that if my husband didn’t commit any crime, why did he run away. I didn’t know how to answer him. He quickly went into his office.
After I got home, I felt upset and a bit annoyed with myself because I didn’t say what I had wanted to say, and felt that I had lost face when I couldn’t answer his question. I consulted a practitioner lawyer on a platform. He analyzed the case for me and said that because my husband didn’t commit any crime, he could go wherever he wanted to go, and that it was the officer in charge of the case who had committed a crime. So why would my husband cooperate with his persecutor? My husband left home simply because he didn’t want to help the police officer commit a crime.
The lawyer’s answer opened up my mind. I had still been in the mindset of being persecuted and hadn’t broken out of it.
I then filed my complaint to the upper levels, one by one. The police officers didn’t dare to come to my home or harass us by phone. They just ignored my complaints. My leg problem gradually went away.
Police Officer Thanks Me
I applied for information disclosure about my case with the police department in my local branch and in the municipal branch, and I applied for an administrative review with the municipal government. I then filed administrative lawsuits with the district court, the municipal intermediate court, and the provincial high court. All of them returned my administrative complaints to me without giving any reason. I then posted it to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court transferred my complaint to the district court. The district court continued shirking responsibility, and refused to process my case. At the same time, the police station changed their attitude and called me expressing their willingness to talk. They made an appointment with me.
I made sure I was prepared for this talk. I consulted the practitioner lawyers on the platform and they gave me professional advice and recommended some articles for me to read. They advised me that I didn’t need to answer their questions to avoid them using the answers as excuses to persecute other practitioners, and that I could clarify the truth to them from my angle instead.
Before the meeting, I read the recommended articles carefully and memorized some legal clauses. I changed my mindset. I knew I shouldn’t treat the police officers as enemies. I should clarify the truth to them with compassion, and save them. I sent righteous thoughts more and also asked other practitioners to send forth righteous thoughts to help me.
I drove to the police station, and was asked to wait in the lobby. I started sending forth righteous thoughts and felt that a huge word, “elimination,” was filling the entire police station. I felt stable in my heart, and felt that Master was by my side. My righteous thoughts got even stronger.
I followed the police officers into a meeting room. Officer A was from the police department local branch and was a legal expert. The other two officers were from the local police station. After we were seated, I asked for their names and positions. They didn’t dare to tell me, and said that this meeting would not be recorded, and they were not required to give their names. They then asked me for my husband’s information, such as information about his character and why he practiced Falun Gong. I said jokingly, “Sorry, I cannot tell you this information.” They then said that my husband had done illegal things.
They talked for a while. I then put my hand up in a “stop” gesture. I asked them, “You said that my husband violated the law. May I ask which law he has violated?” One of the officers said that it was the State Security Law. I asked them to show me which clause in the State Security Law he had violated. Officer B then searched in his mobile and was about to show me. The officer beside him looked at the mobile and stopped him.
I said to them, “My husband didn’t violate any law. Instead the police were violating the law. They searched my home without a valid search warrant. They committed the crime of illegally searching my home. They didn’t register the case before they searched my home. They violated the case registration procedure. They took away my belongings without providing a list of the goods they took away, and they refused to give them back. They committed the crime of robbery. When they came to search my home they committed the crime of unlawful entry. They detained my husband, who hadn’t committed any crime. They committed the crime of illegal detention.”
The two officers said that Falun Gong was a cult and that my husband had illegally possessed Falun Gong materials. I told them that Falun Gong was not a cult. It was not listed as one of the 14 cult organizations on the notification jointly issued by the General Office of the CCP Central Committee, the State Council, and the Public Security Department.
I told them that Falun Gong materials were legal, and that the CCP had lifted the ban on Falun Gong books.
A police officer listened to me silently. He seemed to think over what I had said. I told them that according to the constitution, a citizen has the right to free speech and freedom of belief. Another officer interrupted me and stopped me from talking about such topics. I asked him if he saw the signed official document when they were carrying out the order to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. That officer became silent, and then looked at the first officer, who was a legal expert. He kept silent as well. Then both of them stood up and left. I followed them out. I said, “The persecution lodged by Jiang Zemin regime is a political movement. It will end eventually. By then the persecutors will be prosecuted. I hope you will not become the CCP’s scapegoat.” One of them said, “Thank you. We will not.”
Closing Remark
Even though my husband’s case hasn’t been withdrawn, I have changed my mentality. My purpose is to use this form to clarify the truth to the people in the legal system and save them. When they know the truth, the world will change.
Thank you, Master! Thank you, fellow practitioners!
