(Minghui.org) Because a man in Suining City, Sichuan Province, refused to sign a housing demolition agreement, his village secretary retaliated by reporting him for practicing Falun Gong and talking to people about it. Mr. Zheng Deliang was arrested as a result and has been sentenced to two years.

Mr. Zheng, 60, was arrested on January 6, 2026, by Jiefuqiao Police Station officers. Prior to his arrest, his village secretary, Pu Man, instructed people to report him many times for practicing Falun Gong.

To seek justice, Mr. Zheng’s family wrote to several agencies of the central government. One of the letters was later returned. On June 25, 2026, the local police arrested the postal worker who handled the letter, as well as Ms. Deng Yan, another local Falun Gong practitioner, after suspecting her involvement in mailing the letter.

Mr. Zheng was secretly sentenced to two years by presiding judge Wang Shasha of the Chuanshan District Court on July 8, 2026, without a hearing.

Prior to this, Mr. Zheng was given a three-year term in 2015, along with his father, Mr. Zheng Shiyi. The older man was brutally tortured while serving time in Jiazhou Prison. He died on February 22, 2025, at the age of 87. See the related reports for details of Mr. Zheng and his father’s persecution.
