US Congressman: We Must Defend Religious Freedom and Human Dignity

(Minghui.org) The US Senate unanimously passed the bipartisan bill S.4009, “Falun Gong and Victims of Forced Organ Harvesting Protection Act” on September 28, 2026. The bill aims to sanction the CCP’s crimes of forced organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners. This marks a consensus reached between the two major US political parties – the Democrats and the Republicans – regarding objection to the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong (especially the practice of forced organ harvesting).

Numerous US Senators and Congressional members praised the Senate’s unanimous passing of this bipartisan legislation.

Senator Todd Young is one of the co-sponsors of the “Falun Gong and Victims of Forced Organ Harvesting Protection Act.” In a statement issued on September 30, he wrote: “The United States must continue to stand up for fundamental human rights and speak out against the Chinese Communist Party’s persecution of religious minorities.

“I’m pleased the Senate unanimously passed this bipartisan legislation to combat these horrific abuses and stand with Falun Gong practitioners and other victims of persecution in China. This is an important step in defending religious freedom and human dignity in the face of the CCP’s ongoing abuses.”

Congressman Tom Tiffany also issued a statement on September 30. He said, “The CCP’s long history of human rights violations and systematic torture of political dissidents and religious minorities is well-known. Passage of this legislation will help ensure that those responsible for these abuses are held accountable.”

Congressman Patrick Kevin Ryan said at a rally held by Falun Gong practitioners in Washington DC on September 24, 2026: “I just want everyone to know that in the United States Congress, a half mile from here, there is and remains bipartisan support for religious freedom, specifically to protect the practices of the Falun Gong,” Congressman Ryan said. “I am the proud co-sponsor of the Falun Gong Protection Act, bipartisan legislation which we have passed through the United States House of Representatives with wide, strong support, signifying that the American people stand with and support the Falun Gong people in every dimension of your faith and your freedom.”

Following its passage in the Senate, Bill S.4009 will become federal law after it is reviewed by members of the Senate and Congress and is signed by the President.
