Practitioners talked about their cultivation experiences, including how they improved within their family environment, at work, and while participating in Dafa projects. They shared about looking within when facing conflicts, letting go of attachments, striving to be considerate of others, cooperating together, and treasuring the opportunity to cultivate.

Cindy shared how she changed from complaining about others to looking within while she participated in a media project.
A coordinator asked her to lead a new project and train other practitioners because she had experience. Besides completing her own work, Cindy needed to answer questions from beginners and she also filled in for others on short notice. She thought the situation would improve within two weeks. But after three weeks, issues such as inadequate staffing and tight deadlines still occurred.
Cindy became exhausted and complained to the coordinator, who listened patiently and explained the reason for the inadequate staffing. The coordinator encouraged her to continue and told her, “This is a cultivation opportunity.”
Her words served as a wake-up call for Cindy. Reflecting on herself, she realized that she consistently attributed issues to others, while overlooking their contributions. She realized that when cooperating with a group, one should not be concerned with personal gain or loss. She also noted her attachment to avoiding difficulty. When she changed her mindset, the chaotic situation within the project gradually calmed down.
Wendy talked about how she started a cleaning company. She required of herself to follow the standards of a practitioner and she performed each task carefully. She gradually won her customers’ trust. Her service expanded from housecleaning to yard work and renovation. Running the company provides her with opportunities to improve her xinxing, introduce Dafa to her customers, and tell them about the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution of Falun Dafa.
A customer changed plans during a yard renovation project and asked her to tear down and redo work that had already been completed. The customer also refused to pay for certain portions of the project. Wendy reminded herself to take financial gain lightly and she calmly talked to the customer.
Later, the customer’s wife did not agree with the situation and blamed her husband. Wendy advised the wife not to let this affect their relationship, and told her, “No worries. If he wants to pay for it, it is fine. If not, I won’t fight for it.” The wife was very moved and she keeps in touch with Wendy. She even recommended Wendy to her friends who needed to have some renovation done.
A realtor whom Wendy has known for over ten years told her that initially she hadn’t read any information about Dafa, but after she interacted with Wendy, she started to read The Epoch Times and learned about Falun Dafa.
Wendy realized that practitioners’ words and actions show non-practitioners that Falun Dafa is good. Only by following Dafa’s principles can a practitioner’s words be more powerful.
Jade shared her experience of getting rid of her fear mentality and her attachment to avoiding difficulty. She started practicing Falun Dafa in 1998 and later moved to the US.
Jade always raised awareness about the persecution face-to-face in China. After coming to the US, she noticed that her mentality of fear did not disappear even though she no longer lived in China.
After participating in the phone call platform (making calls to China to clarify the truth about Dafa and the persecution) she didn’t dare to speak up—she was worried that she wouldn’t express herself well and that she would waste everyone’s time. When she was asked to be the moderator for an experience sharing session, she feared wasting other practitioners’ time and losing face because she did not speak well. Due to this fear she did not talk about her cultivation experiences when she went to the local group Fa-study.
Through studying the teachings and looking inward, Jade discovered that beneath her aversion to difficulty lay a desire to save face, vanity, a craving for validation, and a tendency to defend her ego. Having grown up accustomed to praise, she found that, after she was in a new environment, she was anxious about not performing well and she did not want to hear negative remarks.
After finding these attachments, Jade increased her Fa study and honed her communication skills through making calls. From an initial state of nervousness and uncertainty about how to proceed, she grew to become quite proficient in using the calling tools, while also paying greater attention to details such as maintaining accurate call records.
Jade realized that the process of making phone calls to China is also the process of cultivating herself solidly. When people cursed at her or hung up, Jade realized it was an opportunity to get rid of resentment, as well as the attachment to hurrying and of seeking results. When she heard appreciation and praise, she knew she needed to be careful and not become complacent or start to validate herself.
