(Minghui.org) Greetings, Master! Greetings, fellow practitioners!
On the occasion of the 23rd China Fahui on Minghui, I am writing about my experiences clarifying the truth about the persecution to people and about my cultivation journey.
I am naturally introverted and not very articulate. In the past, my efforts to clarify the truth were limited to my family, friends, and acquaintances, and perhaps the occasional shop assistant I encountered while running errands. All in all, I could only reach a few people each day. I was envious when I saw fellow practitioners going to large hospitals to clarify the truth. They talked to a dozen or even over 20 individuals in just two or three hours. I asked them to take me along, and that is how my journey of clarifying the truth to people in hospitals began.
That first day a practitioner took me to a hospital, I was struck by the sheer number of people there. The outpatient building alone had seven floors, and the elevators were packed. Every floor was lined with rows of chairs, nearly all occupied—it was as crowded as a railway station. I thought to myself, “There are so many people here to whom I could clarify the truth. This is truly an excellent place for it.”
I tried sitting in different spots, but I couldn’t seem to strike up a conversation with anyone. Even when I did manage to say a few words, I didn’t know how to steer the conversation. Add in the security guards with red armbands, as well as armed police and riot police patrolling back and forth in small groups, and I found myself even less able to open my mouth.
More than an hour passed quickly. The practitioner who brought me came over and said that Jing (another practitioner who had come with us) had already gotten 16 people to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and gone home. It was quite warm in the hospital, and between that and my own growing anxiety, I broke out into a sweat. I thought, “In another hour, the workday will be over, and I haven’t talked to a single person yet! It looks like the whole afternoon might be a total waste. I would have been better off staying home and studying the Fa.” In the end, I went home having failed to save anyone.
After I returned home I felt quite dejected, thinking I was useless and far behind the other practitioners. Upon deeper reflection, I asked myself why I couldn’t bring myself to speak. Part of it was fear of being rejected or ignored—a concern about losing face. This stems from vanity—a desire to save face—which is rooted in an attachment to reputation. Then there was the fear of being overheard by the security guards, armed police, or riot police who were patrolling the area, and the fear of being reported. As for my anxiety when I heard that the other practitioner had helped 16 people quit the CCP in just over an hour, it wasn’t born out of genuine concern that people be saved; rather, it was driven by a competitive mindset, a human attachment to pursuing numbers and results. And my worry that the afternoon had been wasted was simply the manifestation of an attachment to personal gain and loss.
Once I identified these human attachments, I intensified my efforts to transcribe the Fa, memorize the Fa, and send righteous thoughts. I firmly believed that only Dafa could help me eliminate these attachments. When sending righteous thoughts to cleanse myself, I specifically targeted those attachments—addressing and clearing them away one by one—and I also worked to overcome and cultivate them away while clarifying the truth.
Although I returned home unsuccessful that first day, I knew that a hospital offered an excellent environment for clarifying the truth. It attracts a diverse flow of people, including many down-to-earth folks from the countryside whom I would otherwise never have the chance to meet. Patients often face long waits for CT scans, X-rays, or lab results, and they frequently pass the time by chatting with one another. As long as I could establish a good rapport and connect with them, they would have plenty of time to listen to the truth, and there would be ample opportunity to explain things thoroughly. I was determined to continue my efforts here and not give up.
I began to go to five or six days a week. At first, there were times when I only managed to help two or three people renounce their ties to the CCP in a single day, but I did not get discouraged or fixate on the numbers. I reminded myself that saving even one person is like saving an entire small universe—an entire celestial realm with countless sentient beings.
Sometimes, I would arrive quite early, hoping to reach more people. Yet, after more than an hour passed, I hadn’t helped a single person quit the CCP. Impatience, a pursuit for higher numbers, and an attachment to specific outcomes began to surface. Realizing this, I immediately sent a thought: “I do not want these attachments. Extinguish them—they are not my true self.” My mind instantly grew calm and empty, leaving me focused solely on finding those with a predestined relationship.
As my heart became tranquil and serene, people once again grew willing to engage with me. Some would look at me and smile, while others would say, “Why don’t you sit here?” Some would agree to quit the CCP after only a brief conversation. It was truly remarkable. The moment my heart became pure, the surrounding environment shifted accordingly. In the hour or so that followed, I was able to help seven or eight people renounce their CCP affiliations.
In the process of clarifying the truth, I observed that how one initiates a conversation and truly resonates with the other person is crucial. If you can engage them, they are willing to listen. To do this, I set aside my ego and the vanity of wanting to save face, humbling myself to take the initiative to speak to strangers.
Whatever their background, most people are glued to their smartphones. One only needs to tap an image to access short videos or a TV series, which are captivating. Sometimes when I greet people, they don’t even seem to hear me.
One day, the man sitting next to me was staring intently at his phone. I called out, “Hey, what are you watching?” He didn’t seem to hear me, so I glanced over and remarked, “Oh! The Russia-Ukraine war—it’s so intense! It’s the ordinary people who suffer the most.”
He immediately turned his phone toward me and said, “Exactly! Look at all the heavy shelling.” I replied, “War is a state brought about by shifts in celestial phenomena. When the karma in a certain place becomes too great, Heaven uses war to weed out people. Major plagues, too, are a way for Heaven to eliminate people. Did you by any chance join the Youth League or Young Pioneers when you were in school?”
When he said he did, I said, “You should renounce your memberships to ensure your safety. Quitting the CCP brings safety and protection.” He nodded in agreement, so I added, “Also, keep in mind ‘Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness- Compassion-Forbearance is good’ if any disasters arise in the future. You will remain safe and blessed.” He said, “Alright.”
Whoever happens to be sitting next to me, I can strike up a conversation with them after just a quick glance. I begin by addressing them with an appropriate, respectful term such as “Sir” or “Ma’am” and then ask about their health or how long they have been waiting for medical care. I might bring up how difficult it is to see a doctor at a hospital, noting that very few people can complete their medical visits in a single day. Once a rapport is established, I transition into telling them about Falun Dafa and the persecution. When sharing this information, I tailor my approach based on the person’s age, educational background, and social status.
If someone around 60 or 70 years old happens to be sitting next to me, I might say, “Sir (or Ma’am), are you also waiting for a CT scan report?” If they say they are, I ask how long ago they had the scan done. They might say, “Just over an hour,” and I can respond, “Well, if you get it by four o’clock this afternoon, that would actually be quite fast. This hospital is always so crowded that it usually takes three or four hours for a CT report to come through.” They usually agree, saying, “True, it’s terribly slow.” Then I offer some reassurance: “Don’t worry—the medical care here is actually quite good. It’s just that there are so many people.”
Then I continue and ask their age. They might say, “68,” and I’d remark, “We’re about the same age, then. We were students back during the Cultural Revolution, so we didn’t really get much of an education. It was all just struggle sessions and political rallies.”
This can really strike a chord, and they might say, “You’re telling me! I finished high school, but I didn’t learn a thing.” I’d ask if they’d joined the Young Pioneers and the Youth League back then, and most reply, “Oh, absolutely.” I’d then say, “Did you know that the CCP, in its political campaigns like the Three-Anti and Five-Anti movements, the Anti-Rightist campaign, and the Cultural Revolution has caused the deaths of 80 million Chinese people during peacetime? That’s a death toll equal to the combined total of both World Wars. And today, the CCP is rife with corruption and is persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners who follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Their crimes are so grave that Heaven is set to eliminate them, which is why we’re seeing so many disasters lately. We ordinary people shouldn’t have to go down with them. You can choose to withdraw from their organizations—in your heart, before the Divine or Heaven—to ensure your own safety. Once you sever ties with them, these disasters won’t affect you. Staying safe is a true blessing.” They usually respond, “Alright! Thank you!”
When I ask for someone’s name and they seem reluctant to share it, I immediately offer them a pseudonym and help them renounce the CCP and its affiliated organizations. If they give their real name, I use that instead. I then explain that Falun Dafa is a Buddha-school practice and that frequently reciting “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” can bring one the protection of the divine.
If time permits, I share how Falun Dafa has spread to over a hundred countries worldwide—including Taiwan and Hong Kong—and is embraced by people across the globe. I explain that the CCP persecutes Falun Dafa and fabricated the Tiananmen Square self-immolation incident to incite people to hate the practice. Depending on the individual’s receptivity and the time available, I point out the suspicious aspects of that staged incident and describe the remarkable health benefits of practicing Falun Dafa.
Upon learning the truth, many people come to highly value the phrases “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” Some will count on their fingers as they repeat the phrases along with me, while others record them on their phones or ask me to type them into their digital notepads. Elderly individuals who are illiterate sometimes ask me to write the words on a piece of paper, saying they will have their grandchildren teach them how to read and recite them.
Some people are very straightforward and ask no questions. They may have only a third- or fourth-grade education and were once members of the Young Pioneers. I explain to them that the Young Pioneers is affiliated with the Communist Party, which is atheist, and that by erasing this mark of atheism, they can receive divine protection. I tell them that if they keep the phrases “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good in mind” and recall them during critical moments, they may be able to turn misfortune into good fortune. Most people readily agree to renounce their memberships in the CCP.
When I encounter someone with a certain social status who works in a government department, I might ask, “Given your position, you must be a Party member, right?” They usually reply, “Of course.” I then say, “Karl Marx, the founder of communism, was a follower of Satanism. The Communist Manifesto even begins by mentioning a spectre—a ghost—haunting Europe. When you joined the Party, you raised your fist and swore to dedicate your entire life to it, declaring your readiness to sacrifice your life for it. In effect, you were taking an oath to Satan. Doesn’t that mean you’ve placed yourself under his control?
“Oaths must be fulfilled. We are descendants of the Yellow Emperor and Yan Emperor—not descendants of Marx and Lenin. You should withdraw from the Party. You can even use an alias or a nickname. It won’t affect your current life or work. Let us be true children of the Chinese nation, not followers of Marx and Lenin. China is a Divine Land—a land of the gods—and we are the people of the Divine. By withdrawing, you come under the care of the Divine and Buddhas.” Upon hearing this, most people choose to withdraw from the CCP.
When time permits, I tell them how Falun Dafa has spread all over the world. Many respond, “I’ve seen that while traveling abroad. I’m aware of it.” I then suggest, “In that case, try reciting ‘Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.’ It will boost the positive energy in your body and aid your recovery. I wish you a speedy recovery.”
In short, when clarifying the truth, it is essential to consider the other person’s perspective and find the right entry point. This greatly increases the chances of success. Depending on the time available and the individual’s receptivity, you can share more or keep it simple. Seize the right moment to encourage them to withdraw from the Party, while tailoring the rest of the conversation to the specific person.
Of course, there are also those who refuse to withdraw or who respond with harsh words. In such cases, I do not argue. Instead, I say, “I apologize—I didn’t express myself well, and I’m sorry for upsetting you. Please know that I truly have your best interests at heart.” I then quietly take my leave, extending compassion to them and hoping that, in the future, they may have another opportunity to hear the truth.
I once saw a woman in her 30s approaching the service desk, cradling an armload of medications. She glanced at the counter top and then at the shelf below, clearly looking for a large plastic bag—the kind used to hold medical imaging films. However, as it was nearly the end of the workday, there were no more bags left. I had one in my pocket, took it out, and handed it to her, saying, “Here, use this.” With a tearful, choked voice, she asked, “How did you know I was looking for this?” I replied, “I saw you carrying all those medications with nowhere to put them.” At that, she burst into tears.
I asked, “My dear, you’re so young. What is wrong?” She named a condition—a rather unusual one that I don’t recall now—but the gist was that it was difficult to treat, and they could only try their best. She said, “These medications alone cost over a thousand yuan! I don’t have that kind of money; my brother and sister had to pay for it.” I said, “Don’t worry, dear. Let me tell you something good. If you sincerely recite ‘Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good’ and renounce your membership in the CCP, you will be safe and protected.” She agreed.
I then took a 100-yuan note from my pocket and offered it to her, saying, “This isn’t much, but please take this to buy some food for the next couple of days. Don’t fret—you’ve heard some wonderful news today; you’re going to be saved.” She firmly pushed the money back, refusing to accept it under any circumstances. I said, “Well, just make sure you remember what I’ve told you today—it will truly be of great help to you.” She replied, “I will.”
Seeing the expressions of pain and sorrow on people’s faces, a sense of compassion welled up within me. I realized that they, too, originated from higher realms—they are all kin to our Master, and they are all waiting to be saved by Falun Dafa even though they have become lost and deluded in this mundane society. I felt a strong urge to do everything in my power to awaken them, to help them choose a bright future and return to their own heavenly homes.
Once this compassion emerged, everyone around me felt like a close acquaintance. It became completely natural to strike up a conversation and encourage people to renounce their ties to the CCP organizations. Sometimes, it only took three or four sentences for them to agree. I have deeply felt the immense power of compassion.
I have been clarifying the truth in hospitals for seven years. I have evolved from being timid and hesitant to being confident and poised and from speaking in a roundabout way to being open and direct. Starting from scratch, I have reached a point where I can help save as many as 13 or 14 people in a single day. Every step on my cultivation path has relied on the strengthening and guidance of Master. Throughout this process, I have often asked Master to arrange for predestined people to sit beside me.
Over the past few years, I have transcribed Zhuan Falun twice and memorized it three times. This has provided me with an inexhaustible source of wisdom to clarify the truth, and I have become more spiritually attuned. It is Master who is accomplishing me—thank you, Master! Thank you, Dafa!
