(Minghui.org) Mr. Wang Qinglin, 73, in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, remains detained because he practices Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Mr. Wang was arrested on the afternoon of October 8, 2026, one day after an officer from the Zijing Police Station spotted him when he was about to put up self-adhesive stickers which had information about Falun Gong.
The officer searched Mr. Wang and confiscated his stickers. While he was released on the spot, the officer shadowed him and found where he lived. More officers from the police station and the Linghe District Police Department descended on his home the next day and confiscated his printer, laptop and other valuables.
Mr. Wang’s family was not notified where he was detained.
Past Persecution
Mr. Wang used to suffer from blood clots, stomach issues, and muscle strain. Unable to work due to his poor health, he and his wife struggled to provide for their two young daughters.
After he took up Falun Gong in April 1997, Mr. Wang made a full recovery and was able to do odd jobs to support his family. His wife and two daughters also began to practice. The family was repeatedly targeted after the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999.
Mr. Wang was arrested in September 1999 and detained for 50 days, during which time he was beaten and forced to do hard labor. His wife and their two daughters later went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. The police ordered him to pay 7,000 yuan to cover the expenses they incurred while traveling to Beijing to search for his family. He borrowed money from relatives and friends, but the police didn’t issue a receipt.
After they brought Mr. Wang’s family back from Beijing, the police put his wife and older daughter in a labor camp. He was so devastated that his hair turned gray overnight.
When he learned the police attempt to arrest them again on December 28, 2000, Mr. Wang, his wife, and their older daughter went into hiding. His younger daughter was left to fend for herself. She had to drop out of school.
Mr. Wang was arrested by officers from the Daxue Township Police Station in July 2006, after he was reported for distributing information about Falun Gong. He was taken to the Jinzhou City Lockup. The guards handcuffed him to the window sill when he refused to wear the inmates’ uniform.
Mr. Wang was later transferred to the Jinzhou City Labor Camp to serve a one-year term. He was forced to sit on a small stool for hours every day and he was not allowed to talk to anyone.
Mr. Wang’s latest arrest in October 2026 put one of his daughters in a dire situation. This daughter (not clear if it was his older or younger daughter) is incapacitated and relied on him to take care of her.
