(Minghui.org) Greetings, revered Master! Greetings, fellow practitioners!

I began cultivating Falun Dafa in 2001, initially hoping to heal my illnesses and improve my health. In the blink of an eye, it has been 25 years since I obtained the Fa. I would like to share some insights and experiences from my cultivation journey.

Experiencing the Wonder of Dafa

Before I began practicing, although I had a good job and lacked nothing materially, I was not happy. Driven by a personality that demanded perfection in everything, I found it impossible to let go of things or take them in stride. I spent my life chasing fame and fortune, which left me riddled with ailments.

After practicing Dafa for some time, I established a practice site near my home. I took the exercises very seriously, and because I was responsible for bringing the music player each morning, I completed all five exercises almost every day for over a decade.

Practicing Dafa not only restored my health and inspired in me a cheerful state of mind, but it also left me looking remarkably youthful compared to most people my age. Now, even though I am well past the age for a senior citizen discount card, I can still present a fresh, vibrant, professional image to clients—whether I am meeting with VIPs or spending long hours on my feet at exhibitions.

For some time, I was preoccupied with specific tasks at work, and without realizing it, my resolve to be diligent in my practice weakened, and my morning exercises became sporadic and inconsistent.

One day, after learning about the lives of Shen Yun dancers, I realized the importance of self-discipline. I resolved to break free from the bad habit of seeking comfort and began going to my office early in the morning—taking advantage of the light traffic before dawn—to do the exercises.

Perhaps because my heart was determined, Master cleared the way for me on several occasions—from the New Taipei City section of the highway all the way to Taipei. There were 10 traffic lights along the way, and I passed through them all on green lights. Even in that tiny, hard-to-park spot in the corner of the company building’s basement, I was able to park without a hitch on my first try every time.

When I began practicing, Master allowed me to witness many extraordinary and miraculous aspects of Dafa. Once, when my father needed heart surgery, I suggested that he sincerely recite “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good,” telling him it would bring peace and serenity to his heart.

After the surgery, he told me that, while he was under anesthesia, he felt enveloped and protected by a warm, bright light. The operation went very smoothly, and his recovery was remarkably fast.

We had a bougainvillea plant at home that insects had hollowed out. It would topple over at the slightest breeze, with only a thin layer of bark remaining, propped up by a metal rod. One day, I recited “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” to it, hoping it too could assimilate with the Fa. Amazingly, the bougainvillea came back to life and has been blooming beautifully ever since, as if repaying and thanking its owner.

Once, while participating in an overseas truth-clarification event, I was on a flight from the US back to Taiwan with three groups of fellow practitioners from Taiwan. My group had a layover in San Francisco, while the others were flying directly to Taiwan.

During the layover, I realized I’d forgotten to take my copy of Zhuan Falun off the plane with me. I felt very distressed. How could I possibly forget my precious book on a plane! When we passed through customs at Taoyuan Airport, a fellow practitioner from a different group called out to me, saying that someone had asked her to bring my Zhuan Falun back to me! I was both surprised and delighted; it felt truly miraculous—as if I had regained a priceless treasure.

After I began clarifying the truth, I set up a call center. Every day after work, I would make calls to help people withdraw from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations. Following these calls, I would send forth righteous thoughts at the appointed time and then study the Fa with fellow practitioners—a routine I have maintained consistently.

When I was in a good state of mind, miracles would happen—my wishes would come true. I remember once making more than 10 calls, six of which were to people in the Party, and on several occasions, the pseudonyms I helped people choose to quit the Party turned out to be their real names. It was truly incredible, and I deeply felt that this was Master’s compassionate encouragement.

Letting Go of Resentment Toward My Husband

My husband and I have been married for many years. Before I began to practice, I was the one who called the shots—he always gave in to me in every situation. But after I started practicing, everything reversed, and he subjected me to immense trials and tribulations.

My husband often drinks heavily and becomes violent when he does. He would yell at me, dredge up past grievances, insult me, and smash things. This happens from time to time.

During one argument, my husband slapped me across the face. I was completely taken aback and thought, “If I owe him from a past life, let me pay it all back in one go!” No sooner had that thought crossed my mind than my husband slapped me about 10 times. My tears streamed down like pearls from a broken string, rolling down in big, heavy drops.

For three full months afterward, I found it impossible to focus on studying the Fa or doing the exercises; I felt an overwhelming sense of grievance—a profound, crushing sense of being wronged.

When I first encountered this major challenge early in my cultivation, I didn’t know how to handle it for a long time. All I could do was endure it with a sense of grievance, simply yielding and yielding. One day, as I was quietly studying the Fa and reading “What Is Forbearance” in Essentials for Further Advancement, I suddenly realized that I hadn’t truly cultivated “forbearance” at all.

I also realized that, whenever he would drink, although I managed to keep my composure on the surface, I was actually furious inside. My outward kindness and generosity toward him were self-serving and conditional; sometimes I was just going through the motions, hoping he wouldn’t cause me trouble.

This was not true tolerance; consequently, when he ended up spouting nonsense while drunk—preventing me from sleeping or getting anything done—a deep sense of resentment and bitterness would well up within me. I found myself resenting him, feeling that he was simply not worthy of my kindness.

One time, it was already very late, and he started acting up again after drinking. I couldn’t handle it, and I felt like I’d had enough. Losing my temper, I couldn’t help but shove him—to my surprise, he staggered back a few steps and landed on the sofa.

I grabbed his arm, and he started wailing as if his arm would snap the moment I applied even the slightest pressure. For a few seconds, I really wanted to yank his arm even harder. At that moment, I recognized the “hatred” I harbored toward him.

I recalled Master’s teachings:

“A benevolent person always has a heart of compassion. With no discontentment or hatred, he takes hardship as joy.”(“Realms,” Essentials for Further Advancement)

As a cultivator, I couldn’t act that way. I let go of his arm, and my heart calmed down.

On another occasion, when I was participating in a Dafa activity—even though I had already informed him beforehand—he called me over 20 times, demanding that I return home immediately. I realized he had been drinking and was clearly attempting to interfere with my efforts to save people.

Although I could not immediately identify any personal shortcomings or attachments of my own, I remained firm in the knowledge that what I was doing was the most righteous endeavor in the entire universe, and I could not let him interfere. I held firm to righteous thoughts, reassuring myself that everything would be fine and that no harm would come if I didn’t return home right away. When I arrived back home after the activity, he acted as if nothing had happened.

After years of cultivation, as my character improved, my resentment and hatred for my husband gradually faded. I set my mind straight that, as a cultivator, my husband’s drunken rages and outbursts were a blessing that allowed me to eliminate karma, accumulate virtue, elevate my character, and advance in my cultivation—a win-win situation that served four purposes at once. How could I possibly feel wronged? He was here to help me achieve success in my cultivation. After that incident, I finally moved past it.

Later, when he would ramble while drunk, I would simply listen, not try to defend myself, and try to see things from his perspective. I told myself, “I have the Fa, but he doesn’t,” and I felt genuine compassion for him from the bottom of my heart.

When I thought this way, I realized how powerful kindness is—he would soon end his irrational antics. I came to understand that, when I change, he changes; the more I consider his well-being and the more selfless I am, the more he will move in a positive direction.

Breaking Through: Putting All Sentient Beings First

Driven by the aspiration to fulfill my mission to save people and using the media as a tool to clarify the truth, I joined the Epoch Times media project in 2013. I initially worked in sales, reaching out to corporate clients to secure advertising for newspaper.

I later took on distributing and promoting the newspaper, focusing on high-end, prime areas in Taipei. The goal was to ensure that influential, affluent, and prominent individuals would have the opportunity to encounter the Epoch Times and learn the truth. At first, because everything was unfamiliar and I didn’t know how to approach potential clients, fear held me back and kept me from moving forward.

One day, I heard the pantyhose I was wearing suddenly rip from top to bottom and tear through. I realized this was a hint to quickly break through my limitations and “break free from the net.” So the next day, I packed a small suitcase, pulled a cart filled with newspapers, dressed in an elegant suit, and, with Master’s blessing, bravely walked into one of Taiwan’s most prestigious districts to begin explaining the facts about Dafa and the persecution and saving people.

Once I took that first step, the fear vanished. Driven by a sense of mission, I cast aside the desire for an easy life and stepped out of my comfort zone. I traveled far and wide, moving among the city’s high-rises in all kinds of weather. During that time, I wore out two pairs of shoes.

I recall one afternoon when I walked for five hours straight. My sole focus was to spread the good news and the truth of the Epoch Times. Enduring hardship is an integral part of cultivation—in fact, one can even find joy in it. Physical suffering is something you can simply grit your teeth and push through. I have come to realize, in a very real way, that the more you let go of the ego and fill your heart with concern for all sentient beings, the less you will be troubled by your own personal discomforts.

Day after day, I went about promoting the paper in one commercial building after another. I recall the owner of a coffee import business who, intrigued by my appearance (I was dressed like a flight attendant and pulling a suitcase, yet going door-to-door like a salesperson), asked me about it. He treated me to coffee and snacks, and, as we chatted, I clarified the facts. He subscribed to the newspaper and even went to see Shen Yun.

There was also a kind-hearted doctor’s wife who, after learning the truth, asked how she could support the paper.

One Taiwanese businessman had serious misunderstandings about our media and tried to brush me off, but my determination to help people never wavered. I adopted a strategy of “retreating to advance,” explaining the truth about the persecution in detail throughout our conversation. In the end, he understood and became filled with goodwill. His expression and demeanor were as if he had become a completely different person.

Last year, the Epoch Times organized a special exhibition titled “The Path of the Brave: Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party,” and I served as a tour guide. It was a great opportunity to reflect on my own cultivation, and I saw many of my shortcomings.

When I was assigned the role just two days before the exhibition, I felt it was far too rushed. It struck me as a significant challenge and a rigorous test, which stirred up human attachments and negative thoughts within me. I then looked inward and asked myself, “Why was I so resistant? Why was I so afraid and anxious?” I realized it wasn’t me that felt that way—I didn’t acknowledge it as part of myself. Rather, it was the evil forces that didn’t want me to do this.

I strengthened my righteous thoughts to eliminate all evil beings and factors interfering with my tour guiding. At the same time, I realized I had placed too much importance on my own “reputation,” fearing that if I didn’t explain things well during the tour, I would lose face and damage my image.

That evening, I realized that I, too, must become a person of great inner strength by embodying the very spirit this special exhibition conveyed to the audience. As a member of this media project, I should have the courage to take on this responsibility, prioritizing others’ well-being over my own gains, losses, or feelings.

After looking inward and identifying my own shortcomings, Master bestowed wisdom upon me. I quickly organized the flow of the guided tour, pinpointed the key aspects of each exhibition section, and determined how to connect them seamlessly.

My fear and anxiety faded away. Furthermore, because of the insights I gained through this cultivation process, I was able to convey my inner understanding more sincerely while conducting the tours. After learning the truth, many people expressed their admiration for Dafa disciples and offered words of encouragement to the Epoch Times, often adding, “I will always support you.”

During that time, I came across a statement in an interview with Shen Yun performing artists that deeply resonated with me and proved very helpful: Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the courage to face it.

Consequently, whenever setbacks or trials arose or whenever the fear within me hindered my resolve to continue on the path of validating the Fa, I would encourage myself to be a person of inner strength. I reminded myself to let go of more of my ego, shed more of my selfishness, contribute more to our projects, and take full responsibility for my own cultivation.

My cultivation journey has had its ups and downs. Although passing tests can be difficult at times, I always feel that cultivation is truly wonderful, because it lets me continually recognize my shortcomings, correct them, and become a better person.

I am deeply grateful for Master’s arrangements and compassionate protection. On this journey of assisting Master in the Fa-rectification, I must strive to be even more diligent. No matter how arduous or difficult things may become, I must always view matters from a practitioner’s perspective, persevere with courage, and fulfill the vows I made in the prehistoric past, thereby living up to Master’s compassionate and painstaking salvation.

Thank you, Master!Thank you, fellow practitioners!
