Additional Persecution News from China – January 19, 2026 (10 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 4 provinces, where at least 23 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

9. [Huangmei County, Hubei Province] Several Practitioners Harassed
10. [Qingzhou City, Shandong Province] Mr. Chen Hengzhong Harassed and Monitored

1. [Zhucheng City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Qiu Jiaxiu and her daughter, Ms. Wang Liangliang, were arrested at their home on January 16, 2026. Ms. Lu Jinshu, the owner of a hair salon, was also arrested.

2. [Guan County, Shandong Province] Ms. Yao Lanzhi and Ms. Yao Huijuan Detained

Ms. Yao Lanzhi and Ms. Yao Huijuan were reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong in Donggucheng Town on January 14, 2026, and were subsequently arrested. Ms. Yao Huijuan was given seven days of administrative detention at Mayan Detention Center. Ms. Yao Lanzhi was held in the Liaocheng City Detention Center.

3. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province] Five Practitioners Arrested

Dong Ping and three other practitioners surnamed Hu, Wang, and Liu, were studying Falun Gong teachings at Ms. Zhang Xiuqin’s home on January 13, 2026, when over ten officers from Laizhou City Domestic Security Division and Wenchang Road Police Station broke in. They ransacked every room and confiscated Falun Gong related items.

The police took all five practitioners to Yantai City the next day and ransacked the homes of the other four practitioners. Dong was released around midnight on January 14. Zhang and Hu were released on January 15. The situation of Wang and Liu isn’t clear.

4. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Mr. Gao Runhong Detained

Mr. Gao Runhong, 88, was taken to the Zhengzhou City Third Detention Center between November 21 and 28, 2025.

5. [Yuanjiang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Wang Caiyun Detained

Ms. Wang Caiyun, 70, was staying with her child in Yiyang City to help care for her grandson. She was arrested on December 26, 2025, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She is currently held at the Yiyang City Detention Center.

6. [Changle County, Shandong Province] Ms. Qin Guofeng Released on Bail

Ms. Qin Guofeng was arrested on January 4, 2026. She has been released from the Weifang City Detention Center on bail.

7. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Guo Xuefang and Family Members Arrested

Ms. Guo Xuefang, 80, was at home with her daughter, Ms. Chen Xuemei, on January 17, 2026, when a plainclothes officer knocked on the door. The officer claimed to be a property management staff member and demanded to come in to check a water leak in their apartment. They refused to open the door, so the officer used a master key to unlock it. Ms. Guo held onto the doorknob to prevent them from entering. At that moment, Ms. Guo’s grandson came home for lunch. The officer then claimed to be the police and threatened to arrest her grandson. Ms. Guo relented and opened the door.

Six officers entered her home to search the place. They confiscated Falun Gong books and other items, as well as tearing down the window and wall decorations. They then took Ms. Guo, her daughter, and her grandson to the Wolong Police Station. Ms. Guo’s grandson was released shortly after. Ms. Guo and her daughter were transferred to the Weihai City Police Department’s Law Enforcement and Case Management Center for interrogation. They were released in the evening.

8. [Gaotang County, Shandong Province] Practitioner Chen Shimei Released on Bail

Practitioner Chen Shimei was handcuffed and arrested by Guo Tingwei and a few other police officers on the evening of January 13, 2026. Chen was released on bail the next afternoon after posting a 20,000-yuan bond.

9. [Huangmei County, Hubei Province] Several Practitioners Harassed

Four officers from Konglong Town Police Station broke into Mr. Wang Chuping’s home on January 1, 2026. Mr. Wang was not home. They questioned his wife, Ms. Wu Chunrong, and forcibly took pictures of her.

Wang Conghua, Shen Jinye, Fu Canhua, and Ni Dongzhi were harassed in November 2025. The police ransacked their homes and took pictures of the practitioners.

10. [Qingzhou City, Shandong Province] Mr. Chen Hengzhong Harassed and Monitored

Officers from Qingzhou Police Department and Wangmugong Economic Development Zone Police Station attempted to arrest Mr. Chen Hengzhong on November 7, 2025. Mr. Chen was not home. They arrested his wife and confiscated a meditation mat and several articles written by the founder of Falun Gong. Mr. Chen’s wife was released that evening.

The police returned to Mr. Chen’s house a few more times. Unable to find him, they ordered the village Party secretary to assign Zhou Xuejun, a villager, to monitor Mr. Chen’s daily routine, including his comings and goings.
