(Minghui.org) Ms. Han Yinzhen was brutally tortured while serving three forced labor terms for her faith in Falun Gong. Her health never recovered. She had a stroke and was hospitalized multiple times.
Ever since Ms. Han, 74, moved from the Xuhui District in Shanghai to the Songjiang District in the same city around 2019, she has been subjected to around the clock surveillance.
The Songjiang District 610 Office, an extra-legal agency tasked with overseeing the persecution of Falun Gong, initially stationed monitors in the first floor lobby of Ms. Han’s apartment building but later moved them to the top floor.
Ms. Han’s fellow residents were unaware that she was a Falun Gong practitioner when she first moved in, but, due to the constant surveillance, almost all of them now know that she’s being targeted for her spiritual faith.
The 610 Office also kept harassing Ms. Han’s daughter, who does not practice Falun Gong, and ordered her to write a statement on her mother’s behalf to “sever ties with Falun Gong.” They promised to stop the surveillance as soon as they received the statement.
Ms. Han’s daughter, who had quit her job to care for her mother full-time, refused to comply and condemned the 610 Office for monitoring someone who'd had a stroke and could not even go out by herself.
Three Forced Labor Terms
Ms. Han, born in November 1951, retired from the Shanghai Rectifier Factory. She was given two years of forced labor in August 2001. The police arrested her again in February 2004 after someone reported her for talking to the street committee employees about Falun Gong.
Her home was raided. After finding five copies of handwritten Falun Gong articles, the police gave her one year of forced labor on July 28, 2004. While serving time, she was so abused that she developed high blood pressure and had trouble walking. The police refused to release her on parole.
After another arrest on December 27, 2007, Ms. Han was taken to the Fengling Police Station and soon given a third forced labor term (exact length unknown).
The labor camp guards forced Ms. Han to take unknown drugs after she was diagnosed with high blood pressure. She doubted the drugs were hypertension medications as they made her even more uncomfortable, dizzy, and weak. The involuntary drug administration did not stop until she was released in 2009.
The complications from the unknown drugs never subsided. Ms. Han still experiences mental confusion and brain fog to this day. She later had a stroke and needed her daughter to care for her full-time.
