(Minghui.org) The Shen Yun North America Company are presenting six shows at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver, from April 8 to 12, 2026. Elected officials from federal, provincial, and city governments in British Columbia have issued letters or proclamations to welcome Shen Yun to Canada and congratulate the company on its 20th anniversary.

She added, “I also recognize the importance of ensuring that artistic and cultural expression can flourish free from intimidation or interference. Supporting cultural communities in sharing their traditions safely and openly is essential to maintaining the freedoms we value in Canada.”

MPs Present Proclamations to Shen Yun

Michael Guglielmin, Conservative MP for Ontario, presented Shen Yun with a proclamation at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto on March 28 and also watched the show.

Mr. Guglielmin said he loves learning about history, which is an intrinsic part of Shen Yun’s portrayal of China’s 5,000-year-old culture. “There’s no better expressive way to view history than through the understanding of culture and to see traditional Chinese culture celebrated tonight and transmitted to us through this performance,” Mr. Guglielmin said.

“It’s truly a great honor to be able to witness this with all of you.”

Conservative MP Costas Menegakis, who represents Aurora-Oak Ridges-Richmond Hill, presented Shen Yun with a proclamation, and remarked that the performing arts company, “Inspired audiences around the world through classical Chinese dance and music, sharing the richness of traditional culture, artistic excellence, and timeless values.

“I am pleased to commend all those whose dedication, talent, and hard work have made this remarkable milestone possible,” he said, referring to Shen Yun’s 20th anniversary.

Conservative MP Rhonda Kirkland, who represents Oshawa, said that while she lived in China she saw firsthand how the Chinese regime suppresses freedom of belief. She noted that in the present day, Falun Dafa is being persecuted in China, an issue that Shen Yun depicts through some of its story-based dances.

“When I lived in China, I witnessed firsthand individuals expressing their beliefs, how they were treated. I saw [Falun Dafa] practitioners taken away and admonished, something that stayed with me and reinforces just how important freedom of belief and expression truly is,” Ms. Kirkland said.

She said the Chinese Communist regime has extended its persecution to other countries and that we [in the Western world] need to take action and speak out against it.

Garnett Genuis MP, Canada’s Shadow Minister of Employment and Co-Chair of the Parliamentary Friends of Falun Gong, sent a greeting video welcoming Shen Yun on its tour of Canada.
