(Minghui.org) I am 60 years old this year, and have never attended school. I have believed in the existence of divine beings since I was a child. Growing up in a rural area of Shandong Province, our chickens often became restless and squawked loudly around 7 p.m.. It made me feel very uneasy, and felt like it was a sign that society was becoming chaotic. At the age of 20, I moved with my mother to a city in northeastern China, where we opened a clothing shop. Deep in my heart, I had always longed to practice cultivation. The customers I met at our shop had various beliefs—some were Christians, some were Buddhists, and others followed various other faiths. They each encouraged me to believe as they did, but none of those paths were what I was looking for. I continued waiting for what my heart truly sought.
I got married when I was 24 years old. Shortly after giving birth in 1999, I developed a herniated lumbar disc, which caused excruciating pain throughout my entire body. I couldn’t walk, and had to crawl to the restroom. My muscles began to atrophy, and one hip became noticeably larger than the other. I couldn’t even hold or care for my baby. My mother had to come and help me. My husband took me to many places for medical treatment, but nothing helped.
My condition had deteriorated three months later, and become unbearable. Someone told us about a person who could supposedly cure my illness, so my husband drove me from his workplace to another city. When we arrived, a man whose mouth resembled that of a rabbit muttered something while emitting energy toward me. Only later did I realize that it was a spirit-possessed practice. At the time, however, I felt somewhat better physically. Seven days after I returned home, the pain again became unbearable, so we went back to see him. When he saw us returning so soon, he became unhappy, and said, “You’ve come back again after only a few days. If I spend all my time taking care of you, how am I supposed to run my business?” He was upset and sent us away.
The next day, my husband’s coworker came with some fabric and asked me to make some clothing. Feeling upset, I said, “In my condition, I can’t make any clothes.”
The coworker replied, “Then you should practice Falun Dafa. This practice is very good.” The moment I heard those words, I immediately agreed. I knew at once that this was what I had been looking for. I later realized that Master’s Law Body had arranged for him to introduce Dafa to me.
I went to the Falun Dafa practice site the next morning. It was in a small park near my home, and many people were there doing the exercises. I joined in and followed along. During the second exercise, I could no longer remain standing, and had to squat down. The assistant asked me, “What’s wrong?” I told him that my legs hurt, and I remained squatting until everyone finished the exercises.
Before I left for home, the assistant told me, “Come back tonight after 7 to watch Master’s lecture videos.” I agreed. I was very happy and looked forward to watching the videos that evening. However, when I arrived and the lecture video began, I became overwhelmingly sleepy. I walked around looking for a place to lie down, and soon fell asleep. I slept until the video ended and woke up afterward.
When I woke up the next morning and opened my eyes, I saw an earth-colored disc rotating counterclockwise in the air before me. I didn’t know what it was. I didn’t go to the practice site that morning. That evening, my husband asked a neighbor to invite me to the practice site. When I arrived, I saw a book with a blue cover, titled Zhuan Falun. Although I was illiterate, I pointed to the Falun emblem and said, “I’ve seen this symbol before.” As I spoke, tears streamed down my face. Everyone present said that I had good inborn quality.
When I first learned to do the seated meditation, only a few people at the practice site could sit in the full lotus position. I had never sat in the lotus position before, yet I was able to sit in the full lotus position for an entire hour the very first time. After the exercise music ended and everyone left, I remained in a tranquil state and could not hear any sounds around me. From that day forward, I always did the meditation in the full lotus position.
I obtained a copy of Zhuan Falun at the practice site. Even though I had never attended school, I was able to read the entire book fluently within just a few months.
The Chinese Communist Party began to persecute Falun Dafa on July 20, 1999, just one month after I started to practice. The practice sites were shut down, so I practiced at home. When I did the second exercise, the Falun Standing Stance, sweat poured from me and soaked my clothes, yet I wouldn’t lower my arms.
The turning point in my health came after an experience with my husband. One time, I felt extremely unwell and was in so much pain that I was rolling around on the floor. My complexion looked terrible. Thinking that I might not survive, and fearing that he would be held accountable, my husband called my brother and said, “Your sister looks bad and may not make it. She refuses to go to the hospital. If something happens to her, don’t say I didn’t tell you.”
Upon hearing my husband say that, I immediately got up and told my brother, “I’m fine.” I didn’t realize that I was going through a test of illness karma. From then on, my health was excellent.
Seeing that I firmly believed in Dafa, Master showed me many extraordinary things.
One evening while doing the meditation exercise, I felt two large hands pushing against my lower back. Then, one day when I was out walking through town with my younger sister, I stepped across a ditch, and suddenly heard a “snap” in my lower back. My spine seemed to shift back into place. From that moment on, my back never hurt again, and the herniated lumbar disc was gone. I found it truly amazing.
When Master was purifying my body, I saw many things very clearly. The spirit-possession entity that the folk healer had placed in me appeared as a symbol resembling the Chinese character “井” (meaning “well,” a deep hole, in English). One day I saw Master remove it. The way it was taken out was exactly the reverse of how it had been put in.
Another time, while lying flat on the bed, I saw an object with three claw-like prongs in front and a long wire-like thing extending behind it. One such object was on my leg. It moved back and forth like a laser, scanning my body from the bottom upward. After that, I no longer perspired while holding the Law Wheel during the second exercise, and my entire body felt light and relaxed.
When I meditated, I often felt my head being pulled upward. Then my dizziness disappeared, and my head felt completely relaxed. One evening while reading Zhuan Falun, I came across the words “… to give up everything in the world ...” (Lecture One, Zhuan Falun). These words suddenly froze everything and changed color. My whole body shook, startling me. These words were then etched into my mind.
On another occasion, I heard a loud “boom” around my head and neck, like a clap of thunder. I saw a piece of karma about the size of a brick fall from the top of my head. As it dropped, I heard a rumbling sound in both ears, startling me again.
As Master was purifying my body, I also saw what had been making me sleepy. It looked like a needle tip about 10 centimeters long that was attached to my eyelids. Whoever had this attached to their eyelids would feel sleepy.
Master also saw my attachment to food and showed me what esophageal cancer looked like, reminding me to not be attached to food. Master constantly watched over me and enlightened me. Sometimes I soaked my feet in hot water, hoping to sleep better. On one such occasion, I heard Master’s Law Body say beside my ear, “If you can’t sleep, why not do the exercises?”
I once dreamed that I was trying to go home. It was dark and I couldn’t see the road. I stepped onto a round platform and found myself surrounded by young men and women. None of them spoke, but they blocked my way and wouldn’t let me pass. Then I felt two large hands lift me up above their heads, and I woke up. I came to realize that I shouldn’t underestimate people who are young. They represent beings who have not obtained Dafa. They envy those who had the opportunity to practice Dafa, because they could not obtain it.
One time I was distributing truth-clarification booklets, and placing them on people’s doors. Two different booklets each had a picture of a child on the cover. As I was putting them on a door, I suddenly heard the voices of two children greeting each other, “You’ve come!” “You’ve come too!”
Another time, I was placing a booklet on a door when the homeowner suddenly opened it. Then she closed the door as if she hadn’t seen me. The incident startled me.
Several years ago, our practitioners mailed truth-clarification letters to people within our local area and throughout China. A practitioner who purchased many stamps for our letters, gave some to me. My daughter, who was in school at the time, selected some stamps with animal designs and set them aside to keep. That night, while I was sleeping, I heard the animals on the stamps talking. One said, “I don’t want to stay here. I want to go.”
Another replied, “I don’t want to stay here either. I want to go.”
The next day, I told my daughter that I heard the stamps speaking. She said, “Mom, I’ll give them back to you.” I understood that those animal stamps wanted to accompany the truth-clarification letters and play a role in saving people.
I am an ordinary woman from a rural area who never attended school and had very little education. It was our great Master who bestowed Dafa upon me, eliminated and cleansed my karma, purified my heart and mind, and enabled me to read Dafa books.
It was through Dafa that I came to understand why we are here, and that the true purpose of life is to return to one’s original, true self. It was Dafa that taught me to think of others first in all circumstances. Dafa has taught me countless principles that guide my life. There are no words that can express my gratitude to Master for his compassionate salvation.
