(Minghui.org) Twenty Falun Gong practitioners in Yueyang City, Hunan Province, were harassed between March and June 2026 for their faith.
Harassment in March 2026
Ms. Tang Youwen was harassed in mid-March 2026, when she went to visit her parents. The village officials searched her bag for Falun Gong materials.
Three officers from the Luoyang Police Station broke into Ms. Xu Genyuan’s home on March 11, 2026, and confiscated a portrait of the founder of Falun Gong. They returned on June 23 to harass her again.
On the same day, the same officers also went to the homes of Ms. Fu Fanggui, 73, and Ms. Fang Yue’e, who is in her 60s. Neither was in. The police later harassed Ms. Fu and unsuccessfully attempted to confiscate her Falun Gong books. She also refused to let them take her photo. The police returned to Ms. Fang’s home in April and May, but still couldn’t find her. They called her husband on June 25 and demanded that they be allowed to visit her. He refused them, saying that she had left town.
Three officers from the Qijialing Police Station harassed Ms. Chen Pingping, in her 60s, on March 11. She wasn’t home. They took photos of Ms. Chen’s husband and a portrait of the founder of Falun Gong. They demanded that Ms. Chen stay home when she returned and said they would come back in the evening to check on her. They came back in the evening but did not see her. The police went to her home again on June 10. Since she still wasn’t home, they asked for her daughter’s WeChat account.
Three officers from the Jin’eshan Police Station harassed Ms. Li Yuelian, 65, at her shop on March 13. They left when her husband confronted them about the persecution. The police returned on June 8. Since Ms. Li wasn’t home, the police asked for her daughter’s phone number, her employer’s information, and the name of her son’s elementary school.
Officers from the Guoliang Street Police Station harassed Ms. Guo Danxia, 79, in mid-March, only one month after she finished serving a nine-month term for practicing Falun Gong. Luowang Police Station officers went to her home on June 8, and told her son that they now had jurisdiction over her.
Harassment in April 2026
A group of residential property management staffers and officers from the Jin’eshan Police Station broke into 72-year-old Ms. Li Yuyang’s home. Six officers and two unidentified young men searched the incapacitated woman’s bedroom and confiscated dozens of Falun Gong books, two photos of Falun Gong’s founder, some informational materials, ten media players, and several hundred yuan in cash.
A friend happened to be visiting Ms. Li during the raid. The police also searched her guest’s bag and took photos of Ms. Li, her guest, and her home aide.
Ms. Jiang Yi, a retired physician in her 80s from the Yueyang City Second Hospital, has been monitored by hospital staff since 2015. They have tracked her daily activities and whom she talked to. Eight hospital staffers harassed Ms. Jiang at home on April 21, 2026, claiming that she had been reported for talking to people about Falun Gong the day before. They threatened her, telling her not to go outside and talk to people about Falun Gong anymore. They also ordered those monitoring Ms. Jiang to keep a closer eye on her.
Harassment in June 2026
Ms. Wu Xiaoming, around 60, received a call from an officer with the Bazimen Police Station on June 2, ordering her to meet with them. She refused to see them. Two officers harassed her sister the next day.
Ms. Yuan Yuzhen, 79, was harassed by two officers from the Qijialing Police Station on June 8. They took photos of her without her permission. Her daughter was harassed around the same time.
Officers from the Qijialing Police Station went to Ms. Zhang Xiaowei’s home on June 8. When they could not find her there, they called her husband on June 16 and demanded to meet with him in person. Terrified, he asked for a divorce.
Mr. Wang Huaizhu, 72, was harassed by five people from the Wulipai Police Station and the Yuntong Street Community on June 10.
Ms. Lu Manxiang, around 70, was harassed by two officers from the Chengdong Police Station on June 11. She had just moved to Yueyang in March 2026 and the police approached her within days. They said they were watching her as she was taking the bus.
Ms. Sun Pinghua and her family were harassed on June 13 and 16. Property management staffers attempted to trick them into opening the door by claiming that their car had been scratched or that water was leaking from their apartment. They didn’t fall for it.
Two officers from the Changhu Township Police Station harassed Ms. Liang Xiaonian on June 16, and took photos of her.
Ms. Wu Shuang’s husband received a harassing call from the Changsha Police Station on June 16, asking about her recent activities.
Staffers from the Lijiachong Residential Committee knocked on the door of 76-year-old Mr. Wang Pinghua’s home. No one was in and they left.
Officers from the Luowang Police Station went to the home of Ms. Meng Ailian, in her 60s, on June 23. She wasn’t home. Her husband questioned the officers as to why they were there. They said they were just checking on Ms. Meng and then left.
Three officers from the Luowang Police Station went to the home of 70-year-old Ms. Li Guohui on June 24. They left after finding that she wasn’t home.
