San Francisco, USA: People Voice Support at Event to Raise Awareness of the Persecution

(Minghui.org) Practitioners in the San Francisco Bay area held activities on July 11, 2026, to inform people about Falun Dafa (Falun Gong) and call for an end to the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) 27-year-long persecution.

“Appealing and Peaceful”

Mark Austin, a product manager at Wells Fargo, saw practitioners doing the exercises in front of the Ferry Building. He said he’d recently started meditating and noticed some positive changes.

“They look so appealing and peaceful. Maybe one day, I’ll also put on that yellow outfit and meditate with them,” he said.

“I think America as well as the entire world urgently need Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. In today’s society, we seem to have lost these precious values. We have to bring them back,” he said.

He signed the petition that called for an end to the persecution and told practitioners, “Please keep up your acts of kindness. I wish you success!”

Chinese Student Withdraws from Young Pioneers

A student from China decided to withdraw from the Young Pioneers after learning about the CCP’s brutal persecution of Falun Gong. He also signed the petition.

His friend Curtis, who also signed the petition, said, “This persecution isn’t justified. That is why I decided to sign the petition—to show my support for practitioners’ efforts to oppose it.”

“I Absolutely Support Their Actions”

Ryan Kish, a tourist from the UK, said this was the first time he’d heard about Falun Gong. “The music is serene and peaceful. The ‘Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance’ they advocate sound truly great. I think it’s wonderful. I will definitely learn more.

“If you want to have the most wonderful life, the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance are the guide. I absolutely support their actions to defend human rights and to strive for freedom of faith. Please keep going,” he said.

“Beautiful and Kind People”

Tariq Alatha, a software engineer from San Francisco, signed the petition at Washington Square near Chinatown. He mentioned that he lives nearby and frequently sees practitioners’ activities.

He explained why he signed the petition: “Falun Gong practitioners all seem to be friendly and kind people. They evidently are a group of beautiful and kind people. I see them often and I know that these activities are significant. I felt I should support them.”

Regarding Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, he said, “I think these are excellent principles and universal values that everyone in society should work hard to put into practice. No matter in what society or what time period, these principles are extremely important.”

After hearing about the CCP’s forced organ harvesting that targets practitioners he said, “This is scary. It really makes you sad. I’m glad that I was able to sign my name here today and help them.”

“I Hope to Help Them Stop the Persecution”

Lucas, who works in the food and beverage industry, signed the petition after learning the facts.

When asked why he signed the petition, Lucas said, “This persecution sounds frightening. I hope to see the situation change. I absolutely support them. I hope to help them stop the persecution of Falun Gong in China and end the forced organ harvesting.”

After a practitioner told him about Falun Gong’s core principles, he said, “These are beautiful guiding principles for life. I think the whole world should reach a consensus on this and follow these principles. Thank you very much for informing me about this.” 

“This Persecution Must Stop”

Julie Zuluaga, a teacher in San Francisco, condemned the ongoing persecution.

“I think Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance are great. In fact, these principles share core values of all religions. As a person, you should be sincere, have compassion, and be tolerant. Most importantly, help others,” Julie said.

“Falun Gong practitioners are simply putting their faith into practice and working hard to become better people. The CCP is brutally persecuting them simply because people follow these universal values and try to have a healthy body. Sometimes they are persecuted to death. This is absolutely unacceptable and extremely absurd in today’s world,” she said.

Julie explained why she signed the petition: “This persecution must stop! All those who are responsible for this brutal atrocity must be held accountable according to the law,” she said.
