(Minghui.org) Practitioners in various Indonesian cities held activities outside the Chinese Embassy and consulates, as well as in other public locations, throughout July 2026. They told people how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has persecuted Falun Gong for 27 years, and about the regime’s transnational repression.

Launched by the CCP on July 20, 1999, the sweeping campaign to eradicate Falun Gong remains one of the largest ongoing human rights crises in China. Millions of practitioners have been arrested, imprisoned, and tortured for their faith. The number of death cases due to the persecution that have been documented on the Minghui.org website have reached 5,359. An untold number of Falun Gong practitioners have been also killed through forced organ harvesting, according to a verdict from the China Tribunal in 2019.

Rally in Front of the Chinese Embassy in Jakarta: Perpetrators Must be Held Accountable

A rally took place in front of the Chinese consulate in Surabaya on July 11. During the rally, practitioners distributed informational flyers, and unfurled banners calling on the CCP to immediately stop the persecution and forced organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners in China.

Practitioners held a rally in front of the Chinese embassy in Jakarta on July 25. They called on people to help stop the CCP’s ongoing persecution, including the regime’s escalating transnational repression.

During the event, practitioners told the public and police officers on duty about the ongoing human rights abuses in China, and gathered signatures on a petition to help end the persecution. Many passersby expressed support for their peaceful efforts and signed the petition.

Ms. Tres spoke at the rally to support practitioners’ efforts to raise awareness of the persecution in China, “We pay tribute to the thousands of victims who have lost their lives, freedom, and dignity over the past three decades solely for upholding their belief. This commemoration also serves as a solemn reminder that crimes against humanity must never be forgotten and perpetrators must be held accountable.”

Zaenal, a local practitioner, read a statement from the Indonesian Falun Dafa Association. “This event is not merely a tribute to the Falun Gong practitioners who have died from the CCP’s persecution, but a demand for the Chinese communist regime to immediately end this severe persecution,” he said. He added, “History has repeatedly demonstrated that tyranny built on lies and violence never ends well.”

Muhammad, an online media reporter covering the event, said, “I’ve covered many protests, but Falun Gong is the most peaceful. I truly hope this unjust persecution ends soon.”

Seeing a group of people meditating, a motorcycle taxi driver pulled over to ask for more information. “I also like to meditate,” he said.

When he heard that Falun Gong teaches Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, he nodded in agreement. “Everyone should have these qualities.” After learning that the CCP persecutes the practice, he signed the petition without hesitation.

Practitioners later held a candlelight vigil to commemorate fellow practitioners who were persecuted to death in China.

Rally and Candlelight Vigil in Bali Attracts the Attention of Many Passersby

Impressed by the peaceful rally at Renon Square in Denpasar on July 19, onlookers stopped to take photos and speak with the practitioners. Many who read the banners and posters signed the petition calling for an end to the suppression.

Speaking at the event, human rights lawyer Wayan Adi said that freedom from torture, and cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment is an inalienable right that cannot be compromised under any circumstances. He expressed his strong support for practitioners’ peaceful efforts, noting, “As a member of the public, I respect that some people have the commitment to join in calling for an end to the oppression.”

After Husein Khan received a flyer, he said, “I am very concerned about what is happening to Falun Gong practitioners in China. They are being persecuted and their organs are being forcibly harvested. I strongly oppose this persecution that violates basic human rights.”

Candlelight Vigil at Sanur Beach: Community Leader Condemns the Persecution

Practitioners gathered in the afternoon for another rally at Sanur Beach, a popular tourist spot in southern Bali, and later hosted a candlelight vigil. Many passersby talked with the practitioners and asked for more information about the atrocities taking place in China.

Speaking at the event, local community leader and cultural activist Morgan Made Suartha expressed his staunch support for Falun Gong, and condemned the persecution of practitioners in China. Suartha said, “I believe that Falun Gong came to the world by God’s will. This is a monumental matter, and the public needs to be aware of its existence.”

Suartha also said he hopes more governments around the world voice their opposition to end the persecution of Falun Gong in China. “The [UN] Human Rights Commission must immediately investigate these abuses,” he stated.

A family from Switzerland approached the practitioners and asked about the activities. After learning about the persecution, the father said, “The situation in China is dire. Everyone should be free to choose how they live their lives, including their beliefs. The government has no right to imprison them simply for choosing a different faith.”

Petition Drive and Candlelight Vigil in Batam City Center: “We Must Continue Upholding These Human Rights”

In the late afternoon of Sunday, July 19, Falun Gong practitioners in Batam assembled at the City Government Square in the city center and held a group exercise session, unfurled banners exposing the persecution of Falun Gong, and collected signatures on a petition condemning the forced organ harvesting in China.

That afternoon, many of the people walking and jogging by paused to observe the activities. After hearing about the severe crimes against humanity taking place in China, many of them also signed the petition.

When Tina heard about the forced organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners in China, she was shocked, and said, “I think every human being has the fundamental right to life, freedom, health, and happiness. No one on this earth has the authority to take these away, as they are bestowed upon us by God. Therefore, we must insist that these human rights be upheld.”
