Aug. 23, 2026 |   By a Falun Gong practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) A 54-year-old woman in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, is scheduled to stand trial on August 25, 2026, for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since 1999.

Ms. Yang Qingmei was arrested on February 6, 2026, after being reported for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. Officers of the Dadong District Domestic Security Office and Shangyuan Police Station ransacked her home. Due to her high blood pressure, she was denied admission by the detention center and released on residential surveillance.

The police arrested Ms. Yang again at home on March 9 and took her to the Shenyang City First Detention Center. She was issued a formal arrest warrant by the Dadong District Procuratorate on March 18 and indicted on June 15. She is scheduled to appear in the Dadong District Court on August 25.

This is the second time that Ms. Yang is being prosecuted for her faith. She was previously arrested on July 16, 2008, and held at the Kaiyuan City Detention Center. She was sentenced to 1.5 years in January 2009 and served time at the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison.
