A 58-year-old man in Xinbin County, Liaoning Province, died on June 15, 2026, after enduring years of persecution for his faith in Falun Gong.
A Well-Regarded Police Officer
Mr. Wang Xiaoming credited Falun Gong for restoring his health and turning him into a more broad-minded and upbeat person. While working at the Yongling Police Station, he was known as a fair and just police officer. One person who felt wronged once said to the police chief, “I would not have fought you guys if you had Wang Xiaoming handle my case. He’s always treated everyone fair and square.”
Mr. Wang was later transferred to a police station overseeing a local tourist attraction. While his coworkers let their families enter the attraction for free, he always purchased tickets for his loved ones because there was no policy offering free admission to families and he didn’t want to abuse his position.
After being moved back to the Yongling Police Station, Mr. Wang continued to excel at his job. The computer work he did for the police system won high praises from provincial officials. He later earned the highest score in a police qualification exam in Fushun City, which oversees Xinbin County.
First Labor Camp Term in 2001
After the Chinese Communist Party started the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, Mr. Wang held firm to his faith and became a target. He was first arrested in September 2001 and given an unknown term at the Wanjiabuzi Labor Camp in Fushun City. He went on a hunger strike in protest and was cuffed to a bed all day long. Guard Wu Wei also force-fed him once every day by prying open his mouth with a spoon and inserting a feeding tube into his stomach.
Mr. Wang would twitch after each force-feeding session, and it was particularly severe on the ninth day of force-feeding. Wu slapped him in the face and cursed him, yelling, “I’m from hell and here to subdue you!”
Wu then removed his leather shoes to hit Mr. Wang on the face. He also ordered Mr. Wang to drink his tea, but he refused, so Wu poured the tea on his head.
Mr. Wang fell into a coma that night and was rushed to a hospital. The labor camp forced his family to pay over 500 yuan of medical expenses the next day. He was taken back to the labor camp, where he continued his hunger strike for over ten more days before being released.
Second Labor Camp Term in 2002
Mr. Wang was at work at the Yongling Police Station on May 13, 2002, when several officers from the Fushun City Police Department suddenly showed up to beat him. He had injuries all over.
The 610 Office agents ordered Mr. Wang to renounce Falun Gong. He said no and was given two years of forced labor at the Wujiabuzi Labor Camp. The guards there kept him handcuffed and locked up in a solitary cell for five months, during which time he remained on a hunger strike for more than 100 days.
Due to prolonged force-feeding, Mr. Wang’s body had sores and his flesh started to rot away to the point that his bones were revealed. One of his ears grew a pus-filled sore, which caused perforation and loss of hearing in that ear. He also had lice.
Held in Brainwashing Center in 2005
Mr. Wang returned to work after he was released from the labor camp. In the spring of 2005, he was transferred to the police station overseeing Hetu Ala (a local tourist attraction). On October 14 that year, he was arrested and driven straight to the Luotaishanzhuang Brainwashing Center.
Mr. Wang refused to get out of the car, and the aforementioned labor camp guard Wu and a few others carried him out and into the brainwashing center. He went on a hunger strike in protest and was rushed to a hospital on the ninth day. He was then released.
Health Restored, Fired From His Job
Mr. Wang was re-assigned to work at a detention center around March 2018. He started having swellings in his legs and experiencing sharp chest pain. His symptoms worsened over time. The local hospital referred him to the Shenyang Medical University Hospital, which further referred him to the Shenyang Military Hospital.
The military hospital diagnosed Mr. Wang with severe congestive heart failure, dilated cardiomyopathy, cardiac thrombus, blurred vision, and generalized edema. He was discharged two weeks later and further developed hand tremor, double vision, and diabetes insipidus.
By reading the Falun Gong books and doing the Falun Gong exercises, Mr. Wang gradually recovered from his numerous symptoms. His miraculous experience steeled his will to keep practicing Falun Gong, which didn’t sit well with the Xinbin County Police Department. They made numerous attempts to get him fired and eventually succeeded on July 23, 2021.
Mr. Wang appealed to have his job reinstated and later sued the police department. The Fushun City Intermediate Court ruled against him on March 14, 2023. See the first related report for details.
