(Minghui.org) A 53-year-old woman in Yushu City, Jilin Province, was released from the Jilin Province Women’s Prison in December 2024, after serving a four-year term because she practices Falun Gong. She recounted some of the torture methods she endured in prison.

My name is Deng Yuli. I was arrested on December 29, 2020, and sentenced to four years in prison the following December.
As soon as I was admitted to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison in January 2022, I was forced to sit motionless on a small stool every day from 3 a.m. to 9 p.m., except when I ate or used the restroom. Inmates Gao Yunxia, Luo Xin, Jiao Ling, and Yu Xiaowei watched me the entire time and they didn’t allow me to stand up or move around. My buttocks festered as a result.
On most days, the inmates didn’t allow me to use the restroom. I was forced to urinate in my pants a few times. To prevent that from happening again, I stopped drinking water and ate very little. Yet the inmates would deliberately add food to my plate. If I couldn’t finish it, they would beat and verbally abuse me. I reported the abuse to the guards, but they did nothing, because they instructed the inmates to torture me.
I also wasn’t allowed to shower or brush my teeth. My gums became swollen and I developed mouth ulcers. Sometimes, I would hide under the comforter at night to rinse my mouth, but instead of spitting the water out, I had to swallow it. If the inmates saw me doing that, they beat me.
The inmates forbade me from talking but also tried to provoke me into speaking so they could blame me for breaking the rule and beat me. Sometimes they punched me on the head or slapped me in the face with their shoes. The abuse caused me to become emaciated and weak.
