Rally in Amsterdam Condemns the 27-Year Persecution in China

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners held a rally on Amsterdam’s Dam Square on July 19, 2026, to commemorate practitioners who died during the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) 27-year persecution. They also called for help to stop the human rights abuses.

Practitioners sitting at Dam Square held portraits of those who have died due to the CCP’s persecution. Many tourists stopped to take photos.

KaYan Wong, spokesperson for the Holland Falun Dafa Association, spoke during the rally.

“Twenty-seven years ago, the CCP launched the brutal persecution of Falun Gong,” Wong said. “Practitioners have been on a peaceful and rational path to counter the persecution since that day. They raise awareness to the public on the issue and advise Chinese people to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations for a bright future.”

Support From Human Rights Organizations

Global Human Rights Defense (GHRD) issued a statement marking the 27th anniversary:

“For over two decades, reports from independent experts, human rights organizations, and international bodies have documented allegations of arbitrary detention, torture, enforced disappearance, and restrictions on freedom of religion and expression targeting Falun Gong practitioners. Among the gravest allegations is the forced organ harvesting from prisoners of conscience, including Falun Gong practitioners. If substantiated, these allegations constitute a severe violation of international human rights law and medical ethics, undermining the fundamental principles of human dignity and the right to life.

“We honor all victims of this persecution and reaffirm that human rights are universal and indivisible, requiring protection without discrimination. Lasting justice demands not only remembrance but also sustained international action to uphold accountability and defend human dignity.”

Hans Noot, director of Human Rights Without Frontiers Netherlands, also sent a letter of support:

“For 27 years, Falun Gong practitioners in China have suffered systematic persecution due to their peaceful faith. Reports of arbitrary detention, torture, and organ harvesting indicate severe and ongoing violations of fundamental human rights. This campaign of repression directly violates freedom of religion or belief—a universal and inalienable right.

“The international community must continue to condemn these atrocities and must never turn a blind eye. We honor the victims, stand in solidarity with those who continue to suffer persecution, and condemn any acts of repression based on faith or belief.”

Public Voice Support to Practitioners

Twin brothers Jelle and Olof saw the rally and said that meditation should not be persecuted. “It is completely unreasonable for the government to persecute such a practice. It is truly terrifying and utterly inhumane. If even practicing meditation can lead to punishment, then what kind of penalties would be imposed for more serious matters? This speaks volumes about that government and the current situation in China,” Jelle said.

“The Netherlands should also strive to prevent the spread of Chinese influence here, so that we may continue to preserve the freedoms we enjoy today,” Jelle said.

They thanked the practitioners for holding the rally. “I also admire those willing to safeguard freedom,” Jelle said. “They bravely step forward to defend it and truly understand its value.” Olof said, “I hope those living in the Netherlands today do not take this freedom for granted.”

Erika was in tears after seeing the display boards with information about the CCP’s torture methods. “This is terrible. It should not happen. How can those in power treat their own people this way?” she said. She was indignant about the totalitarian CCP regime’s human rights abuses.

“Like Iran and Russia, the CCP just wants to control people without caring about their needs. But some Western countries turn a blind eye to the human rights abuse because they’re getting benefits from China,” she said.

She said she would pray for Falun Gong practitioners, “God will punish these evildoers. Good will be rewarded and evil will meet retribution. God is watching them!”

She encouraged the practitioners to continue exposing the persecution: “Persist—eventually, someone will hear your voices.”
