Tourist in France: “This Is a Cause Worth Championing”

(Minghui.org) On August 1, 2026, a beautiful, sunny Saturday, Falun Dafa practitioners from western France set up an information booth at Place Royale in Nantes to tell people about the persecution.

The square was much busier than usual, as many people were returning from vacation or on holiday in the area. Nantes, which is on the banks of the Loire River in western France, has a rich architectural and cultural heritage and is renowned as a “City of Art and History.”

Many people read the practitioners’ display boards and listened to explanations about Falun Dafa, especially the 27-year persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). After learning that the CCP removes organs from Falun Dafa practitioners while they are still alive, many people said they were shocked and outraged.

After Fabien, a tourist, signed the petition calling for an end to the persecution, he said, “What you are doing is wonderful. It is a cause worth championing. We need beautiful souls to support universal values and create a better world.”

Many people signed the petition and gave practitioners a thumbs-up to encourage them to keep up their efforts. Some said they were deeply moved that practitioners held these events to inform the public.

Passersby Learn the Facts and Sign the Petition

An 80-year-old woman who used to work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said she was already aware of the situation facing Falun Dafa practitioners in China. She expressed dismay that the regime continued to persecute them. She signed the G7+7 petition and thanked practitioners for their efforts.

A young couple who saw the display boards were stunned by the illustrations of torture Falun Dafa practitioners are subjected to in China. They said this was the first time they had heard about the persecution and asked many questions. They urged practitioners to continue their efforts.

Jean-Marc, in his 70s, and his wife, who is Chinese, signed the petition. The wife, who has lived in France for 40 years, said her mother practiced Falun Dafa in China before the persecution began, so she knew Dafa was good. Her mother had a friend who continued to practice despite the persecution, but one day the friend disappeared, and no one knows if she is still alive.

She also said that many Chinese people of her generation lived through the CCP’s political campaigns—particularly the Cultural Revolution—so she was well aware that the CCP is evil. She said she renounced the CCP a decade ago.

The couple was very interested hearing about the persecution and said the CCP is a dictatorship and that the Chinese people lack freedom. They took several pieces of literature and said they wanted to learn more about Dafa. They took down information on practice sites, because they wanted to learn the exercises.

A man from Ecuador who lives in Nantes spent a long time at the booth finding out about the persecution and the benefits of practicing Falun Dafa. After learning the facts, he said he wanted to practice Falun Dafa.

Young People Sign the Petition Calling for an End to the Persecution

Many people signed the petitions, including a significant number of young people:

- An 18-year-old man was surprised that he’d never heard of Falun Dafa before. He signed the petition and asked where he could learn the exercises.

- Four young women were shocked to learn that such a genocide was taking place today. They said they hoped that signing the petition would help end it. They had profound sympathy for the persecuted Chinese people.

- Three 19-year-old men who signed the petition were visibly affected when they learned about the persecution.

As the practitioners were dismantling their booth, two young women came back and asked for another flyer so they could get the link to sign the petition online, saying they wanted to tell their friends about it. They asked many more questions about the persecution, forced organ harvesting, and Falun Dafa. They expressed their sincere appreciation for such important information.

When a man asked a practitioner, “How do you manage to have so much energy all day long out here in the sun?” she explained that Falun Dafa gives her energy, that Dafa is wonderful and that it benefits one’s health. Unfortunately, however, it is persecuted by the Chinese communist regime in China, which is why she wants to stand up for and protect the good people who practice Falun Dafa there. Knowing she is doing something good gives her the strength and the hope needed to help bring this persecution to an end as soon as possible.
