(Minghui.org) A woman in Dalian City, Liaoning Province, is facing indictment for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Liu Xiaoxia was arrested on June 10, 2026, by more than ten plainclothes officers from the Shahekou District Domestic Security Office, Shahekou Police Department, and Lijia Street Police Station. The police broke in and raided her home without a warrant. Her bed was searched and the comforters were tossed to the ground. All of her Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, and computer were confiscated. During the raid, one officer pressed Ms. Liu against the ground and handcuffed her.

The police said that Ms. Liu was reported while distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. They identified her using data from traffic surveillance cameras and followed her for some time before they arrested her.

Ms. Liu was taken to the Shahekou District Police Department that evening. Her family went there the next morning to inquire about her case. Director Yin of the Shahekou District Domestic Security Office claimed that they were following the protocol in handling her case. He urged the family to go home and wait for updates.

Because the family didn’t receive any updates that day, they returned to the police department the following day. This time, director Yin said that Ms. Liu had been transferred to the Dalian City Detention Center, also known as the Yaojia Detention Center. The family questioned Yin as to why he didn’t inform them. Yin said that he didn’t have their phone number.

Yin also indicated that the police intended to prosecute Ms. Liu and that the Falun Gong materials confiscated from her were enough to get her sentenced to prison.

To seek Ms. Liu’s release, her son, Mr. Sun Yi, wrote to Yin, urging him not to participate in the persecution. Mr. Sun was summoned to the Lijia Street Police Station on the evening of August 13. He was arrested on the spot and detained for 10 days.

The Shahekou District Domestic Security Office later submitted Ms. Liu’s case to the Shahekou District Procuratorate. The latter issued a formal arrest warrant for her and transferred her case to the Ganjingzi District Procuratorate.

The detention center called Mr. Sun in September 2026, saying that Ms. Liu was experiencing a health issue, but she refused to cooperate with the guards and go to the hospital. The caller ordered Mr. Sun to persuade Ms. Liu to follow the guards’ order, but didn’t allow him to meet with her.
