(Minghui.org) The Minnesota Falun Dafa Association participated in the Minneapolis Open Streets Cedarfest on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
The Cedar-Riverside neighborhood in Minneapolis was transformed into a bustling pedestrian zone from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Music, art, and booths from numerous community groups drew residents and visitors alike. Many people stopped at the Falun Dafa booth to watch the exercise demonstrations, read materials, and talk with practitioners.
Open Streets Minneapolis is a community event that has been held for many years. By closing certain streets to motor vehicle traffic, the area is transformed into public spaces where residents can walk, cycle, and engage in community interaction.
During the event, some Falun Dafa practitioners demonstrated the exercises while others distributed hundreds of flyers promoting the documentary film Unbroken, The Untold Story of Shen Yun, and raised awareness of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) transnational repression, where practitioners talked with visitors.

After learning about the CCP’s suppression, visitors expressed their support for Falun Dafa.
“Everyone Needs Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance”
A woman accepted a flyer and a lotus flower keepsake when she passed by the booth. She then hung the lotus flower on her own booth tent. She exclaimed happily, “Everyone needs Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance!”
An international student of mixed Chinese-German heritage came to the Falun Dafa booth. After listening to a practitioner giving an overview of the practice and how the CCP has been interfering with Shen Yun Performing Arts performances, the student was appalled and accepted the related materials, saying that he would have a good look at them.
Some residents lingered at the booth to learn more. Others watched the exercise demonstration, spoke with practitioners, and took materials to read at home.
Minnesota Residents Concerned about the CCP’s Transnational Repression
People expressed their views after learning about the CCP’s transnational repression.
A woman from Washington, DC told a practitioner that she had some understanding of the current situation with the CCP and its attacks on Shen Yun.
She said that more people should be informed about what is happening. She expressed her objection to the CCP’s behavior.
A few people mentioned feeling concerned about the CCP’s activities in the United States. One gentleman said, “We cannot let the CCP appear on the lands of the United States.”
After listening to a practitioner’s explanation regarding allegations that the CCP is utilizing the US media and the legal system to target Shen Yun and Falun Dafa, she was alarmed. She thanked practitioners for stepping forward to tell people about what is happening.
A woman came over to the booth and told a practitioner that she had already learned a lot about the situation. She expressed her regret that Shen Yun was facing such underhanded tactics from the CCP and voiced her support for the group.
The event went on for six hours. During this time, a continuous stream of visitors came to the Falun Dafa booth to watch the exercise demonstrations, chat with practitioners, and take materials to read. People thus learned about the practice and the CCP’s persecution.
