(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners held marches in Osaka and Kyoto on September 20 and 21, 2026 to call for an end to the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution and state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting. Many people watched, took photos, and expressed their support.

On September 20, the march passed through Osaka’s shopping districts, Nipponbashi and Shinsaibashi. The event in Kyoto was held near major attractions on September 21. Japanese Officials Issue Messages of Support

During the rally in Osaka, the host read messages of support from four elected officials.

Rintaro Ishibashi, a member of the House of Representatives, wrote that he was “one of the like-minded people who absolutely would not tolerate the CCP’s atrocities.” He mentioned that he had been opposing forced organ harvesting for nine years. He wrote, “Let us continue to raise public awareness together. I firmly believe that the march today will also gather immense strength.”

Masahide Moroi, a Saitama Prefectural Assembly member, wrote that freedom of faith and thought are universal basic human rights and should not be suppressed by a government. He pointed out that “the international community absolutely should not remain silent” regarding the human rights violations against Falun Gong practitioners and organ harvesting. “Freedom and human rights cannot be defended if we do not speak up,” he wrote. He also hoped that the event would help more people know about the persecution.

Fumitaka Nihei, Koto District Council Member, acknowledged the practitioners’ 27-year effort in calling for the upholding of human dignity and religious freedom. He believed that the persecution of Falun Gong and the forced organ harvesting violate universal human rights. He emphasized, “The international community must work together to stop this act.” He said that he would support the practitioners’ peaceful activities in Japan.

Hiroaki Maruyama, representative of the local council of the SMG network (Stop Medical Genocide—Society for the Study of Organ Transplantation in China) and a member of the Zushi City Council, used the story of Sukunabikona in Records of Ancient Matters to show how practitioners continue their course of action despite great pressure. He said, “No matter how gigantic the opponent is or how long it takes, you absolutely must not stop. Please do not give up. We are definitely able to pioneer a world that is without forced organ harvesting or human rights abuses and is full of peace and dignity.”

Sandra from Spain said, “To me, the values of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are crucial. These are very important for a person to gain a foothold in this world and establish relationships among people. That’s why I think this is truly precious.”

Some people also voiced their support after they heard why the march was held.

Mr. Taisan said he previously hadn’t heard about Falun Gong. After learning that the march was held to inform Japanese citizens about the human rights issues and persecution in China, he said, “Silence cannot change the status quo in any way. It is a good thing no matter how you speak out. I hope more people will learn the truth.”

He said about Tian Guo Marching Band’s performance, “Great atmosphere. The music makes one very happy.”

He said regarding forced organ harvesting, “Extracting organs from living people is a horrific crime that absolutely cannot be tolerated. It must stop immediately.”

Mr. Itami saw the march while he took a walk. He said he had heard about Falun Gong before and had “complete support” for practitioners’ activities. He said, “I firmly oppose the CCP’s suppression. I hope they do not yield and they continue their efforts. I fully support you.”

People in Kyoto Condemn Human Rights Violations

Glenn Cheil from the US said, “I support Falun Gong practitioners in China. I oppose the act of forced organ harvesting that target innocent people. People absolutely should not suffer that misery, face a life-threatening situation, or live in fear of having their organs extracted at any moment.”

Alessandro from Italy said, “I think this is a crucial issue. I voice my support to Falun Gong practitioners. For this significant topic, they held this excellent event. This is also a bit heart-wrenching for me, as this is an extremely serious issue. Acts of violating human rights should not be happening. Human rights are people’s basic rights.”

Fernando Gasca from Mexico said he previously hadn’t heard about the organ harvesting. He learned the situation after seeing the band, crowd, and banners. He said, “This is too scary. I want to voice my support for Falun Gong practitioners.”

Daughter of Illegally Detained Practitioner Calls for Help

Falun Gong practitioner Liling Zhang, who lives in Japan, joined the march in Kansai. She urged the CCP to release her mother Qiu Xiuping, who is over 70 years old. She also hopes that the Japanese government and international community will pay attention and offer assistance.

Ms. Zhang said that her mother was arrested on July 28 in Guangdong Province when she distributed information about Falun Gong. She has been detained at the Shantou City Detention Center for more than 50 days, and her family is not allowed to visit.

Ms. Zhang said that because she kept speaking out to protest the persecution suffered by her mother, the local 610 Office pressured her relatives in an attempt to force her to return to China. Before this, her family had their home illegally ransacked last September, and Ms. Zhang and her two older sisters were persecuted, including being interrogated for a full day and night.

Ms. Zhang pointed out that the persecution violates China’s constitution. She advised the police who participate in the persecution to see the situation clearly and not become scapegoats who will be held accountable later on.

She urged the international community to pay attention to the practitioners who are persecuted in China, help end these human rights violations, and allow families who are separated to reunite.
