Additional Persecution News from China – August 22, 2026 (5 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 5 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 20 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhou Changjie Arrested
2. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Sixteen Practitioners Detained
3. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wang Wenjuan Detained
4. [Linghai City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Wenying Released from Prison
5. [Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Chen Heqiong Released from Prison

1. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhou Changjie Arrested

Ms. Zhou Changjie was arrested by South Boulevard Police Station officers on the morning of August 20, 2026. Her home was ransacked.

2. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Sixteen Practitioners Detained

Sixteen practitioners, including Ms. Yao Hongmei, Ms. Yao Yumei, Ms. Wang Xiumin, and Mr. Yan Jianqing, were arrested on August 19, 2026. Over 100 officers were dispatched by the Xinghualing District Domestic Security Division for the operation. All of the practitioners are currently held at the Taiyuan City Fourth Detention Center.

3. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wang Wenjuan Detained

Ms. Wang Wenjuan, in her 60s, was arrested on August 10, 2026, by a dozen officers from the Lianxing Township Police Station and the Shuangcheng District Police Department. She was placed under criminal detention at the Harbin City Detention Center. Her family isn’t allowed to visit her.

The police searched Ms. Wang’s home for two days. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, computer, printer, and a significant amount of cash.

4. [Linghai City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Wenying Released from Prison

Ms. Li Wenying was released from Liaoning Province Second Women’s Prison in August 2026 after serving a one-year term.

5. [Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Chen Heqiong Released from Prison

Ms. Chen Heqiong was arrested on July 24, 2024, and later sentenced to one and a half years in prison. She has been released from prison on January 23, 2026.
