(Minghui.org) For some time now, I’ve had clusters of warts on my neck, some bumps in my mouth, and I often feel lightheaded. I’ve experienced many abnormalities and although I’ve looked inward, I still feel that I haven’t pinpointed the root of the problem.
Today it suddenly dawned on me: aren’t these bumps signs of unevenness? And isn’t dizziness just a sign of physical imbalance? So don’t these physical irregularities reflect the lack of peace and balance within my heart?
While looking within, I realize unbalanced mindset is present in my daily life. For example, when I do household chores, I often complain about how much there is to do—that it’s never-ending—and think, “Can’t my dad do some of this and help lighten my load?”
When my mother, who is also a practitioner, points out my shortcomings, I feel resentful and think, “What you’re saying isn’t right.” When I see other practitioners harboring feelings of resentment, I fail to promptly examine whether I, too, have similar issues with my character.
Upon further reflection I realized that because of the old forces’ persecution of Dafa I developed a sense of indignation. Whenever I thought of the old forces and the Chinese Communist Party I got so angry I couldn’t contain myself. I felt the persecution should never have happened.
Master said,
“We don’t know how to do what you described. This is the only way we know.” (“Fa Teaching Given at the 2016 New York Fa Conference,” Collected Fa Teachings, Vol. XIV)
I indignantly told the old forces, “What business is this of yours? If you don’t know what you’re doing, stay out of it—yet you insist on meddling and making a mess of things.” My resentment toward them grew.
If this had happened a few years ago, such feelings under intense pressure would have been understandable. However, the situation has clearly changed in recent years, and yet I still have this sense of grievance and imbalance. This indicates that I have consistently failed to recognize this issue, and instead let it manifest as a physical reaction in my body.
Cultivation is serious. Master told us,
“And that’s all the more so during this persecution, yet instead of developing righteous thoughts, you have allowed a great deal of hatred to build up. The wicked CCP is indeed villainous, and in the near future it will surely be eliminated. But do you know what a bad person is and what a good person is? If your mind is filled with hatred and malice, think about it, everyone: what kind of a being would one be? And it will show in your conduct and even in your looks, and people will see evil in you.” (Fa Teaching Given at the 2014 San Francisco Fa Conference, Collected Fa Teachings, Vol. XIII)
When it comes to dealing with the old forces we should follow what Master said and not acknowledge them. We should not feel resentful or hate them. Instead, we should maintain firm, righteous thoughts.
I wrote this article to cultivate myself, and remind practitioners to be careful not to harbor resentment because of the persecution. While such feelings may seem reasonable and justified from a human perspective, we may easily overlook issues related to our cultivation.
Under any circumstances and in any environment, Falun Dafa’s standards of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance remain unchanged.
