Falun Gong Press Conference: Canadians Walk 750 Miles to Ask U.N., Kofi Annan, for Intervention to Rescue Falun Gong Practitioners in China

Falun Dafa Information Center -- More than a month ago, four Canadian Falun Gong practitioners left Toronto/Montreal to begin a 750-mile trek to the United Nations in New York City as part of a worldwide "SOS! Global Rescue Walk." ... The walkers and their supporters will arrive at the Chinese consulate at 11:00 am for a press conference at the United Nations, November 14, 2001, and then will complete their journey with a symbolic walk to the United Nations building on the East side.

On 18th October the Foreign Minister, Anna Lind, answered citizens' questions. The focus of the questions was the terrorist attacks in the USA.

As a Falun Gong practitioner, I asked, "I appreciate the chance to bring up the human rights issues in China. If I were in China now I could be under arrest and enduring serious torture. Even if I lost my life the Chinese authorities would claim that I committed suicide. I would like to thank you for your constant support to the Falun Gong practitioners. At the moment, the Swedish government is focusing on the terrorist attacks in the USA, and the war between the USA and Afghanistan. What is the government's view on Falun Gong issues now?"
