(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 26 cities or counties in 8 provinces. In this report, 198 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 24 practitioners were illegally arrested.

Ms. Zhang Lingge from Changsha City, Hunan Province was unlawfully sentenced to six years in prison. She returned home thirteen months ago. On April 27 she was taken into custody again. She has been transferred to the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp to serve an 18-month term. Her elderly parents and 14-year-old son are left at home unattended. Her younger brother, who is mentally handicapped, also lives at her home. Half of her father's body is paralyzed.

Mr. Li Wensong was formerly an employee of the Qingyuan County Electric Installation Division in Fushun City. In March 2003, he was arrested for practicing Falun Gong and sentenced to six years in prison. He had been held at the Huazi Prison in Liaoyang City and the Dalian Prison for abuse. His wife Ms. Wei Minghua taught at a high school in Qingyuan County. The school officials have terminated her employment for her belief in "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance." Mr. Li was released on May 19, 2009. He has returned home, but has been dismissed from his work unit.

Mr. Li Dechun and his wife Ms. Yuan Zhenci in Lalatun Village, Liucheng Town, Chaoyang County were arrested by officers from the Chaoyang County Police Department at 8:00 p.m. on May 19.

Mr. Liu Ming has been unlawfully held at the Yanzhou City Detention Center. Ms. Zhang Maoyun returned home on May 13.

Ms. Huo Ruizhi in Erqi District, Zhengzhou City was taken into custody at her home by officers from the Daxue Road Police Station at around 5:00 p.m. on May 15.

Ms. Li Guilan in Zhongyuan District, Zhengzhou City was taken into custody by officers from the Sanguanmiao Police Station in Zhongyuan District when she was telling others about the persecution in the streets on May 20.

Ms. Zhang Xiuying from Shima Village in Liujiayao Town, Anqiu City, Ms. Li Ruizhen from Laotongyu Village in Baoquan Town, and Ms. Zhou Shufen from Wangjiazhuangzi Village in Danshan Town are being held at the Anqiu City Detention Center.

On the morning of May 4, Ms. Sun Xiuhua left home, and there was no word from her after several days. Her 85-year-old father was looking everywhere for her. Later, kindhearted people told him that Ms. Sun was taken into custody by the Beita Police Department and held at the Chaoyang County Detention Center. Ms. Sun has been on a hunger strike. Despite her weak physical condition, officers from the Beita Police Department and members of the 610 Office forcibly took her to the Fushun Brainwashing Center.

At around 8:00 p.m. on May 19, Mr. Li Dechun and his wife Ms. Yuan Zhenci in Group No. 4, Lalatun Village, Liucheng Town, Chaoyang County were taken into custody. The two practitioners are being held at the Chaoyang County Detention Center.

On May 20, the police returned to the couple's home to search their place a second time. The officers took away a desktop computer, a printer, a paper cutter, some brochures, and even a bank deposit book.

Ms. Zhao Guiqin lives in Changshan Town, Donggang City. On September 25, 2008, she was taken into custody while doing housework by officers led by Wang Runlong, head of the Domestic Security Division of Donggang City Police Department. She was taken to the Donggang Detention Center. On December 12, she was secretly sentenced to three years and six months in prison. Ms. Zhao cannot walk as a result of abuse. Domestic security officers and members of the 610 Office have refused to release her.

On April 26, 2009 she was forcibly taken to the Shenyang Women's Prison in Liaoning Province. She was not able to walk on her own. Prison officials refused to admit her because of her illness. However officers at the Donggang City Police Department still held her in the detention center. On May 15, the police again took her to the Shenyang Women's Prison. She did not pass the physical examination because of her severe illness. She was again rejected by prison officials. She remains in custody at the detention center.

On the evening of May 21, Ms. Zhang Xia from Donggang Village in Boli County and another practitioner went to Shengli Village to hand out brochures. They were turned in to the police. Ms. Zhang Xia was taken into custody on her way home at around 9:30 p.m. The other practitioner has safely returned home.

Ms. Tao Xiuwen, in her fifties, lives in Loujie Township, Huinan County. She was taken into custody by officials from the Procuratorate in early May while she was doing Falun Gong exercises at home. Ms. Tao is being held at the Beishan Detention Center in Huinan County.

Mr. Zhang Yuke is being held at No. 8 Ward in the Jilin Prison. On the morning of May 20, prison guards placed him under "strict supervision" on the grounds that he refused to cooperate in fingerprinting and blood testing.

Ms. Sun Shuhua is a handicapped practitioner in Ji County, Tianjin. She has been unlawfully held in custody for nearly 40 days. Ms. Liu Ruirong, from the Xiaozhuzhuang area in Sangzi Town, is also being held with Ms. Sun at the Ji County Detention Center.

On the evening of May 19, 2009 Mr. Zhang Hua, who lives in Qianbuhou Village, Tuanwang Town, Laiyang City, was taken into custody by officers from the Tuanwang Town Police Station. The police submitted his name to the Laiyang City 610 Office. Officers from the 610 Office took Mr. Zhang to a brainwashing center in the Laiyang Party School.

Ms. Fan Yujie, in her forties, is a nurse at a hospital affiliated with the Qianyin Company. She lives in Zhangdian District, Zibo City. On the afternoon of May 21, officers from the Tiyuchang Police Station in Zhangdian District took her into custody while she was at work. The police also searched her home.

At 7:30 a.m. on May 13, a group of police officers from Qiaoguan Town in Changle County, Shandong Province showed up at Ms. Liu Yongchun's home in Shuigoujian Village, Changle County. The officers took Ms. Liu and her daughter-in-law Ms. Meng Lingqiu into custody. The officers confiscated all the Falun Dafa books they found, as well as 3,200 yuan in cash. Ms. Liu and Ms. Meng were taken to the Qiaoguan Town Police Station and held there for four days. On May 17, the two practitioners were transferred to the Changle Detention Center.

Ms. Shao Li lives in Shanting District, Zaozhuang City. On the morning of May 22, officers from the Domestic Security Division in Shanting District Police Department, led by Wu Guangjin, took her into custody. Ms. Shao was taken to the Tengzhou Detention Center in Zaozhuang City. On May 14, the police searched both Ms. Shao's home and office but did not find anything.

On May 19, Ms. Bian Cuiye, who lives in Boshan District, Zibo City, was taken into custody while she was telling others about Falun Dafa in Zhaozhuang Village to the north of Boshan District. Ms. Bian is being held at the Boshan District 610 Office.

Mr. Liu Yanfeng and Mr. Liu Guanghua in Renqiu City were taken into custody by officers from the Guocun Township Police Station in Hejian City on July 15, 2008. The two practitioners were held at the Hejian City Detention Center for nearly nine months. They were secretly taken to Unit 1 and Unit 4 in Jidong Prison in Tangshan City on April 7 or April 8. Their families were not notified.

Ten days later, Mr. Liu Yanfeng was able to borrow a cellular phone to call his family. Several practitioners sent him cash while he was held at the Hejian City Detention Center, but he only received 200 yuan of it.

Mr. Yang Baili lives in the Yuexinzhuang area in Sunshi Town, Wen'an County, Langfang City. At around 11:00 p.m. on July 20, 2008 officers from the domestic security division and the Long Street Police Station took him into custody at his home. He was taken to the Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp. He was not able to call his family till September 12, 2008. His family visited him at the end of September. They found out that Mr. Yang had become emaciated, he threw up whatever he ate.

Ms. Gao Jinglin from Xiaolaijigou Village in Taitoushan Township, Pingquan County was taken into custody about a month ago by officers from the Taitoushan Township Police Station. Her home was searched.

Ms. Su Yezhi lives in the family quarters of the Engineering Institute of Zhengzhou University in Henan Province. On November 13, 2008, she was taken into custody on Shakou Road. The police searched her home. They confiscated Falun Dafa books, a cellular phone, an MP3 player, and a printer.

On the morning of May 18, domestic security officers and the Anyang City police unlawfully took into custody 62-year-old Mr. Hu Guosuo in Hujiayao Village, Caisang Town, Linzhou City (under the jurisdiction of Anyang City). At noon, the police took into custody Mr. Hu's wife Ms. Shang Yonglian. The police also took into custody Ms. Li Yuhong in the afternoon.

The most severe persecution takes place in Wards No. 3 and No. 11 in Lanzhou Prison.

In 2008 Mr. Luo Xiufeng in the No. 11 Ward was forced to attend brainwashing sessions. In April 2008, he was transferred to the No. 7 Ward, where he was handcuffed. A year later, he was transferred back to the No. 11 Ward, where the persecution has escalated.

Mr. Jin Jilin was transferred to the No. 3 Ward from the No. 9 Ward. He was under intense abuse for over a year. In the spring of 2009, he was held in isolation in the No. 3 Ward.

Mr. Jiang Chunbin and Mr. Wang Yinhe was injured from prison guard beatings. Mr. Jiang and Mr. Shao Yanbo have been on a hunger strike for several days. Each has been handcuffed and held by two inmates when going out to do hard labor.

On April 23, 2009, Liu Huachao, head of the Qushan County Domestic Security Division in Zhumadian City, led a group of police officers to search the homes of several practitioners. Ms. Niu Yueling and Ms. Cui Aihua were taken into custody after their homes were searched.

Ms. Hu Aimin, who lives in Shangjie District, Zhengzhou City, was taken into police custody in 2008. She was unlawfully sentenced to three years of forced labor. She has been taken to the Xinxiang City Women's Prison.

Ms. Tao Dafeng, Ms. Tang Chengyun and Mr. Wang Jinzhou were taken into custody on April 23 and April 24. The three practitioners remain in custody at the Tongchuan District Detention Center. Their families have been denied the right to visit them. Ms. Wang Lanying and Ms. Wu Licui remain in the Kaijiang County Detention Center while facing an upcoming unlawful trial. The whereabouts of Mr. Zheng Jiawen, from Da County, is unknown. He had been held at the Xuanhan Detention Center for several months.

During lunch break on May 15, Pan Junlan, deputy head of the Da County Domestic Security Division, broke into the home of Mr. Li Hui. They took Mr. Li into custody and searched his home. Mr. Li is being held at the Xuanhan Detention Center.

Since July 20, 1999, numerous practitioners in Mengyin County have been unlawfully placed on trial and sentenced to prison or forced labor. Based on incomplete data by May 2009, over 170 practitioners have been sentenced to prison or forced labor.

On the afternoon of May 22, police officers climbed in through windows to break into Ms. Wang Xianzhi's home in Dutai Village in the jurisdiction of Longhuashan Neighborhood Administration Office in Xiantao City. The officers ransacked the place and took possession of personal property.
