(Clearwisdom.net) At Taoyuan International Airport, the first sight that mainland Chinese tourists see is Falun Gong practitioners greeting them with smiles. First-time visitors to Taiwan are shocked that practitioners are able to promote the Fa and clarify the truth openly, while practitioners in China are brutally persecuted.
When practitioners approach the tourists to welcome them and tell them about the movement of withdrawing from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations, some visitors don't interact with the practitioners for fear of being seen by other Chinese people. However, most tourists simply observe the practitioners' behavior and eventually let down their guard and smile back. Some even quit the CCP quietly.
Falun Gong truth-clarification display in the main hall of Taoyuan International Airport
Postcards of Taiwan landscapes with messages about how to withdraw from the CCP are favorites for Chinese tourists
Like many other practitioners, Ms. Tsai often comes to the airport to welcome Chinese tourists. She said, "As soon as the Chinese tourists arrive, we walk up to them and welcome them with our informational boards. We tell them, 'Welcome to Taiwan. We are Falun Gong practitioners from Taiwan and wish you a happy journey.' Often, they stare at us and then whisper to each other, 'It's Falun Gong.' A few tourists ask us to take a picture with them. So we tell them, 'The first friends you met in Taiwan are Falun Gong practitioners. I hope you remember 'Falun Dafa is good' and 'Truth-Compassion-Forbearance is good.'" Ms. Tsai recalls a few stories that profoundly impressed her.
An Entire Tourist Group Withdraws from the CCP
One time, there was a group of more than 20 tourists from Shandong Province. As they were waiting at the airport, each of them took truth-clarifying materials from practitioners and agreed to withdraw from the CCP and its affiliated organizations. There was only one person in the group who still hadn't withdrၡwn. Thus, the entire tourist group joined the practitioners, trying to convince him to withdraw. He was very anxious and went outside to smoke. Finally, after seriously thinking it over, he nodded his head and said, "Yes." This tourist group not only thanked the practitioners, but also said that they hoped that the information about quitting the CCP could be widely spread in China.
Bringing the Truth Back
There was a group of young people from Guangdong Province. When the practitioners first greeted them, they seemed a little scared. However, after they heard the practitioners' kind greetings, they indicated that they had already read the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party on the Internet. Still, the practitioners gave them the book and the young visitors said that they would read it on the road. They also accepted postcards with messages about withdrawing from the CCP. They said that they would take them home. They also wanted to take pictures with the practitioners.
The practitioners told them earnestly, "Please remember that Falun Gong practitioners were the first friends you met in Taiwan and we truly welcome you here." They all nodded. One man told a practitioner in private that he had several friends who practice Falun Gong and they had been arrested and persecuted. The practitioner told him to bring the truth back home. He said, "Yes, I will definitely bring it home."
One time, a person took some materials from a practitioner and the person next him said, "You can't take that; that's Falun Gong stuff." The person just put the materials under his arm without any fear.
Airport Security Guards Accept Practitioners after Witnessing their Peaceful Demeanor
When Chinese tourists were first allowed into Taiwan, several airport security guards didn't allow practitioners to put up banners, greet the tourists, or accept interviews from reporters. Since Taiwan isn't a Communist society, when a TV reporter saw how different practitioner's peaceful activities were from other groups, the reporter went to talk to practitioners. The reporter was moved after hearing practitioners explain their reasons for going to the airport and thus interviewed them live on air. Because of this, a security guard was reprehended by his boss. He then angrily told the practitioners, "I am going to keep you from doing that." However, the practitioners didn't argue with him. They still smiled and greeted him, sometimes they even helped to keep the place in order. As time went by, this security guard warmed up to the practitioners and he no longer distanced himself from them. He would nod to practitioners and even greet them back politely. After observing the practitioners' demeanor for a long period of time, the security guards and their bosses no longer have any misunderstandings toward practitioners and showed their respect. Although the security guards do not seem to be happy at times, they still admire the peacefulness of the practitioners and realize that practitioners are different from other groups.
As July 20 approaches, the date on which the CCP began the persecution of Falun Gong ten years ago, and the persecution in China continues, practitioners still display peacefulness and kindness. They face every sentient being with compassion and sincerely hope that every Chinese tourist visiting Taiwan will withdraw from the CCP and its affiliated organizations. They hope that in this way, the tourists will have a meaningful trip to Taiwan.
