At noon of August 31, 2000, Falun Dafa practitioners held a press conference and luncheon at the Holiday Inn in the Chinatown of New York City. Dozens of public figures from various circles attended the forum, including lawyers, doctors, community representatives, managers and directors. Seven Chinese media groups did spot coverage of the event simultaneously.
After the Press Conference, those public figures from various circles had luncheon with the practitioners. Everyone talked about his/her own view and understanding of Falun Gong in a cheerful and relaxed atmosphere. Some attendees asked the practitioners questions and wanted to learn more about Falun Gong.
