WASHINGTON--The United States announced Monday it will sponsor a resolution criticizing China at the U.N. Human Rights Commission in Geneva next month.
BEIJING, Feb 26, 2001 -- (Reuters) UN human rights chief Mary Robinson urged China on Monday to scrap the "re-education through labor" system it has used to lock away dissidents and protesting members of the banned Falun Gong spiritual movement.

A diplomatic row has erupted between the Greater London Assembly and China over the communist regime' alleged abuse of followers of a spiritual movement.
The argument has reached ambassador level with a sharp exchange of letters and accusations of "hysterical over-reaction" and "damaged reputations".
