Facts of the Persecution

1) My name is Zhong Zhenfu and I am 53 years old. My wife's name is Zhong Shuhua and she is 51 years old. We both started practicing Falun Dafa in 1997. Because of the vicious persecution for the last five years, we have suffered financial losses of nearly 10,000 yuan. It's hard to estimate the loss of income from our crops; our four acres of grain crops have now become overgrown and are commonly grazed on by sheep, and more than ten acres of orchards have likewise become overgrown and riddled with weeds. Police have harassed us a total of 52 times. My mother, who is over 70 years old, lives in fear of torment by the police.

2) My name is Zhang Yuhua and I am a 58-year-old woman. I live in Suining City, Sichuan Province. In 2002, for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to people, I was abducted by police from Yongxing County Police Station and was beaten and tortured. I was detained for more than 20 days and fined 1,000 yuan. After returning home, I was constantly under the surveillance and harassment by the community office and Chengnan police. On August 14, 2003, a group of police officers abducted me again and beat me severely. As a result, my left eye went blind. My family financial situation has become very difficult since I don't have a job and my daughter and my son-in-law, both dispatched to the countryside as workers, are having difficulty themselves.

3) Below is an appeal to the court in Chuanying by Liu Mingwei from Jilin City: My name is Liu Mingwei and I am a 49-year-old female employee at the Water Company in Jilin City. I am a Falun Gong practitioner. After July 20, 1999, when Jiang Zemin initiated the persecution of Falun Gong, I went to Beijing to appeal to our government and was illegally arrested. I was detained in a forced labor camp for one year. Because of the detention, my work unit fired me for being absent from work. One month after being released from the labor camp, for distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials, I was sentenced to three years in prison. While in jail, I went on a hunger strike for two years to protest the illegal imprisonment. During that time, I was tied to the "dead person's bed" (1) for almost two years and was almost paralyzed upon my release. After consistently practicing Falun Gong exercises and reading Falun Dafa books, I have recovered completely.

4) My name is Guo Chunfang and I am a Falun Dafa practitioner from Suining City, Sichuan Province. For practicing Falun Gong exercises and distributing the truth-clarifying materials, I was illegally detained and sent to a brainwashing center. On March 7, 2002, I was sent to Nanmusi Women's Forced Labor Camp in Zizhong, Sichuan Province. I was confined in a solitary compartment and forced to stand for a long duration. Female drug addicts were ordered to monitor me and to prevent me from sleeping; they would beat me if I closed my eyes.

5) On September 14, 2004, Dehui City court put three Falun Dafa practitioners on trial. The three practitioners, Wang Guohua, Wang Xingxing, and Xhu Hong, were imprisoned in Dehui Detention Center for clarifying the truth to people about Falun Gong in Guojia County on March 25, 2004. During their detention, Dehui police and Changchun Public Security applied torture methods in order to get confessions. Wang Guohua was taken to Changchun Public Security first division; they applied the "Tiger Bench," using a plastic bag to cover his head in order to suffocate him, and other torture methods. Bi Guoquan from Guojia County police station in Dehui City, and another policeman from Public Security Bureau broke Wang Guohua's arm bones.

Note:

(1) "Dead person's bed" is also called "stretching bed." It is used to torture Falun Gong practitioners who are on hunger strike or those who refuse to give up their practice of Falun Gong. When practitioners on hunger strike are tightly tied on the "dead person's bed," their hands and legs are unable to move. Then the jail guards and criminal inmates surround practitioners to force-feed practitioners through their noses. Many practitioners died from this torture.
