(Clearwisdom.net) BRISBANE, Australia--Tamara Pearson, a professional dancer, attended the opening Shen Yun Performing Arts show at the Lyric Theatre on Tuesday June 1. She was deeply touched and had high praise for the show.

"I really enjoyed the show. I thought it inspired me as a performer and it also made me reconnect and think about my background and my cultural beliefs and how I feel about a higher purpose."

Ms. Pearson has been trained in traditional and contemporary aboriginal dance, and she thought Shen Yun's portrayal of traditional Chinese culture was, "beautiful, very delicate, very feminine, and also very strong."

Two of the story-based dances raise awareness about the persecution of Falun Gong, a spiritual meditation discipline that has faced an over ten-year long persecution under the Chinese communist regime.

Ms. Pearson found these performances profoundly moving and said, "I like the telling of the story about the persecution," adding that she also "loved the singing. That really touched on the beliefs and how people feel."

She appreciated the music, commenting on the Shen Yun Orchestra, which is touring with the company for the first time in Australia. "The music was great, it was very powerful, it was nice to have a live orchestra as well. It was a different experience."

Ms. Pearson also enjoyed the singers with piano accompaniment. "Very powerful, very powerful, amazing, amazing," she said.

Ms. Pearson said she would recommend the show to her friends and describe it to them as, "Very vibrant, very spiritual, and something that is worthwhile to see."

"My experience was out of this world"

Among Brisbane's captivated audience at the Lyric Theatre on June 1 was Tammi Gosi, who was seeing the New York-based Shen Yun for the very first time.

"I'm from a very diverse cultural background," said Tammi, who was raised with the performing arts and dancing since the age of three.

"So, obviously, when things like this come to Brisbane, I have to come and see it. And just the idea that it was a different form of dance, a different type of performance--I was really inspired to come and watch it."

Shen Yun brings China's five millennia of traditional culture into the present in classical Chinese dance and music adapted from China's beloved legends, ethnic traditions, and contemporary stories. "I was actually blown away ... to see the different forms of China's dance elements, from classical to modern to ethnic. It was absolutely amazing," Tammi enthused. "That, coupled with all the music and costumes and just dance ... it was phenomenal. My experience was out of this world."

Lance Gosi, Tammi's brother, contrasted the differences portrayed between ancient China's culture and today's society as presented by Shen Yun.

"It's not often that you get to see true Chinese culture being brought outside to the West. So to be able to come and see a true, natural Chinese performance is a great honor. And it's not something you get to see every day. I've been to England and to South Africa, and this is the first time on my travels I've actually seen true Chinese culture," he said.

"Just the beauty of the dance. There's a lot ... out there of what Chinese culture is. You see all these neon lights, and all this plastic and stuff, but you don't see that true, natural Chinese culture. And I think that, what really appeals to me, is the simplicity and the serenity. Especially with the music. It was very, very pleasant to watch.

"Amazing. Absolutely amazing. It was truly just an amazing experience."
