Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials imprisoned her three times, for a total of eight years, with the latest incarceration being at a forced labor camp for a duration of one year. After being released in February 2012, she was still illegally monitored.

Ms. Ma Recounts Her Ordeals

My name is Ma Cuiying. I'm a 64-year-old female. I began practicing Falun Dafa in March 1997. Before becoming a practitioner I suffered from kidney problems, rhinitis, back pain, skin ulcers, allergies, and much more. I couldn't hold my urine when walking, couldn't bend my legs, and had other physical disabilities. I felt excruciating pain and often felt that my suffering was worse than death. After I learned Falun Dafa, I returned to good health. I was well aware that Teacher cleansed my body, and gave me a new life.

On July 20, 1999, the CCP-controlled state media began broadcasting concocted, non-stop information to slander Falun Dafa, heralding the persecution of the practice. When a good friend of mine came to borrow books for her daughter, a stranger near the entrance of the building where I lived searched her. Only then did I realize that I was being monitored. Between 2000 and 2012, I have been illegally detained three times, for a total of eight years, and I am still under constant surveillance.

Imprisonment and Forced Labor

I was sentenced to a four-year prison term, from July 29, 2000 to August 9, 2004. I was first detained at Ningde Detention Center for seven months and then transferred to the Fujian Women's Prison. A former practitioner who had renounced Falun Dafa attempted to brainwash me. She ordered me to “transform” others, which I refused to do. I was ordered to do forced labor and was involved mainly in making clothing, from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily. Sometimes we worked until 2:00 a.m.

I was detained in the Fujian Provincial Women's Forced Labor Camp from July 19, 2006 to July 2008. Because I wanted to clarify the truth about Falun Dafa to people, I was shadowed by plainclothes officers employed by the Chinese Public Security Bureau. I was arrested along with another practitioner.

Those interrogating me claimed that the other practitioner had admitted to producing truth clarification materials. I admitted to having done the same, cooperating with those persecuting me and passively accepting the persecution.

Experiencing the Power of Falun Dafa

One morning in mid-March, I fell down and was injured, and had to stay in the Jianxin Hospital for 43 days. I returned home on April 28. My femoral head was fractured, and the doctor suggested that I undergo surgery, which I declined. I saw another doctor, stayed in bed for a month, listened to Teacher's lectures, and gradually recovered. The doctor said that, due to my age I most likely would be paralyzed for the rest of my life. But I could walk again after studying the Fa, and the doctor was amazed to hear about by my recovery. My recovery was due to the power of Falun Dafa.

Arrested Again

At noon on May 4, 2010, seven or eight police officers broke into my home, searched for books, and attempted to arrest me. They claimed that I was one of two practitioners who were clarifying the truth in Yangwei Village, and that the other one had escaped.

Police officer Yang Rihai kicked in the bathroom door and arrested me. Rihai arrived with seven to eight police officers from the Jiaocheng District Domestic Security Division, including Li Wei. After ransacking my home, they confiscated my books and Falun Dafa materials.

I was taken to the Public Security Bureau, where I was held overnight, and officers took turns questioning me about whether I had gone to Yangwei Village. I said I hadn't, but they took me to the basement. There were over ten plainclothes officers, and one who was wearing white gloves took my blood and my photo. I had diarrhea and felt awful. I was then held in the Ningde City Detention Center for a month.

I held a hunger strike for a week, after which I was force-fed. I had diarrhea and my weight dropped to 35 kg (77 lb.). An outside worker witnessed the force feeding and said, “How can you treat her like that? She is an elderly lady with white hair.”

A month later, I was transferred to the Fujian Provincial Women's Forced Labor Camp. The camp refused to accept me because of my poor health. Police officer Li Wei told them to admit me, but the camp demanded a hospital certificate indicating that I was healthy. The police forced the doctor to forge a clean bill of health, and when I was taken back to the labor camp, I was accepted.

Labor camp personnel tried to brainwash me. I was forced to watch videos that slandered Falun Dafa, had to do forced labor, was given unhealthy food, and was ordered to write the three statements against my will.
