(Minghui.org) I was returning home from a day of shopping when an old friend greeted me from a distance. I smiled as I approached her. "Wow," she said, "you look great, so youthful and healthy." She looked at me for a moment and then said that she had been told that I had gastric cancer, and that it had spread. "Is that true"? she asked.
When I showed her my surgery scar, she was shocked. She wanted to know how I could be so healthy now. I told her it was because of Falun Dafa. She asked if I truly felt that I was cured through practicing Falun Dafa. I smiled and nodded.
When I got home, I thought about my past. I had been diagnosed with advanced gastric cancer 18 years ago. I had surgery and afterward weighed less than 80 pounds. The medication needed to sustain my life cost 6,000 yuan every month. My family sold every valuable thing they had to pay for my medical expenses. We even borrowed money from family and friends. We were deep in debt.
To buy my medicine, my husband would borrow money anywhere he could. Sometimes he would be gone for days collecting money for my medication. He would leave me and our 5-year-old daughter and go off, promising to be home in an hour. One day, after we had waited for 5 hours, my daughter asked where Daddy was. I asked her if she was hungry, and she replied, "No, I am worried."
She told me: "When you were in the hospital, I cried every night. My pillow was often wet with tears, but I tried to cry quietly. The doctor told me that I was not allowed to cry or it would hurt when you were given shots. During the day, I would sing about how wonderful my mother was, so the doctors would not see my sadness and tears. I just wanted you to come home."
I was speechless hearing how much sadness she had suffered at such a young age. I held her tight, with tears in my eyes. I felt helpless.
When my husband returned, he told me about a lottery held close to the hospital. The winnings were expensive items such as televisions and refrigerators. He wanted to win one so he could sell it and have enough money to buy my medicine. He looked to the heavens and begged God to help him win. My husband waited for hours, but no one won anything and he returned home.
I looked at my husband, who tried so hard for me, and my young grieved child. I cried for help deep in my heart; I could not bear to leave them. However, I did not improve.
Just when I felt that I had nearly reached the end of my life, a relative introduced me to Falun Dafa. I purchased a copy of Zhuan Falun from the bookstore, paying 20 yuan.
I read Zhuan Falun eagerly. While reading, I felt my whole body become chilly. My abdomen was painful and swollen. In the center of the painful area, however, I felt something round, rotating constantly.
Master said:
"If they want to get healed, get rid of adversity, or eliminate their karma, then they’ve got to cultivate and return to their original, true selves. That’s how all the different cultivation ways see it. A person should return to his original, true self—that’s actually the true purpose of being human." (Zhuan Falun)
"I’ll directly remove your health problems for you. At the practice sites they’re removed by my Law Bodies, and people who learn the practice on their own by reading the books have my Law Bodies to remove theirs, too." (Zhuan Falun)
"Starting today, some people will have chills, as if they’ve got a bad cold, and their bones might even ache." (Zhuan Falun)
After reading the book once, both my body and mind went through tremendous changes. I felt free of illness. My mind, too, was purified. I no longer complained about my bad luck. I understood that all illness and distress have reasons behind them. I realized the real purpose of life.
Master said:
"Because there’s a truth in this universe: the things that happen to ordinary people, as Buddhists put it, all have underlying causes, and for ordinary people things like birth, aging, sickness, and death are just a fact of life. People only have health problems and suffering because they did bad things in the past and made karma." (Zhuan Falun)
"There’s another way that a person can change his life, and it’s the only way. It’s when he takes up the path of cultivation and sticks with it." (Zhuan Falun)
I diligently took up the path of cultivation, following the standard of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance according to the teachings of Falun Dafa. I cultivate my mind and do the exercises daily. Eighteen years have passed, and my body is healthy now. My weight came back, and I have not had to spend a penny for medical treatment of any kind.
Friends often comment that I look younger now than I did 20 years ago. I am able to take care of the housework and work outside as well. I can carry heavy goods to the market. My husband can focus on his work, and our child will soon graduate from college.
Falun Dafa has given me a second life. It saved my family, and gave me a happy and complete family. There are no words that can express my gratitude to Master Li Hongzhi!
Many people who've witnessed the changes in me are baffled. They wonder why modern science cannot cure cancer, but reading a simple book that teaches people to be good can. They wonder how cultivating the mind and doing simple exercises can be so effective. I told them that to understand it, they need to read Zhuan Falun themselves.
Since July 20, 1999, the communist regime's slanderous propaganda against Dafa has been everywhere. Local authorities (police, Residential Committee staff, Political and Legal Affairs Committee staff, and leaders from my workplace) have come to harass me in an attempt to force me to give up Dafa. They have ransacked my home and caused harm to me and my family. Their efforts have been in vain. Falun Dafa is a righteous Fa. It brings benefits to the entire human race and all living beings!
