(Minghui.org) Three Falun Gong practitioners were recently arrested for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in Xinnong Village, Lanshan Town, Fushun County. Among them was Ms. Yang Chenghuan, 64, a retired worker from the Heat and Electric Factory, a subsidiary of the Fushun Oil No. 2 Factory. She has been illegally detained at the Nangou Detention Center for over a month.
Ms. Yang used to suffer from heart disease, nervous exhaustion, and psoriasis. She sought medical help, but did not find any relief. All of her illnesses miraculously disappeared after she started to practice Falun Gong.
Ms. Yang was so grateful for her new-found health that she fearlessly persisted to clarify the facts about Falun Gong and tell people about the benefits of the practice, even after the communist regime began to violently persecute Falun Gong practitioners in China in 1999. For her efforts to spread the truth and dispel the regime's slanderous lies, she was arrested and detained for over 10 days in 2004, being released only after her family's great efforts to rescue her.
Ms. Yang, along with Ms. Li Fengyun (in her 70s) and Ms. Qian Shujuan (in her 50s), was reported to the police by Li Ying, the head of Xinnong Village, while distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in the village. The chief and deputy chief of the Lanshan Police Station arrested the three women and ransacked their homes.
The three practitioners were taken to the Nangou Detention Center. Ms. Li was subsequently released, because the detention center refused to admit her. Ms. Qian was detained for 15 days, and Ms. Yang is still incarcerated.
The Procuratorate officially approved Ms. Yang's arrest on November 2, 2013. Li Jianhua, from the preliminary investigation department of the Dongzhou District Police Department, is handling the case.
