(Minghui.org) CCP officials use some pretty absurd excuses to arrest Falun Gong practitioners and sentence them to labor camps or prison terms. That's because there is no legal basis to the persecution of Falun Gong, and the Party must therefore push the envelope far beyond the bounds of reason in its ill-intentioned attempts to “legitimize” the persecution.
Having a "rosy complexion" becomes an excuse for harassment
Since the persecution of Falun Gong began decades ago, 66-year-old Ms. Tang Mingbi has been arrested multiple times by the CCP. And she has rarely has any peace when she is at her home in Hechuan District, Chongqing City. Local police and national security officers often come to harass her late into the night – banging on her door at 11 pm, midnight or even 2 or 3 in the morning.
Why do they do this?
CCP officials saw that she had a rosy, healthy looking complexion, so they concluded that she must be a Falun Gong practitioner. This is reason enough for them to often come and harass her.
"Visiting friends" becomes an excuse for detention
On September 10, 2012, a shockingly violent arrest occurred in the city of Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province.
Jiamusi officials dispatched dozens of police officers. They were in plainclothes, and did not use police vehicles. They arrested 15 people without a warrant, including Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xiang Xiaobo.
On October 10, 2013, Ms. Xiang and six other Falun Gong practitioners were sent to Heilongjiang Province Women's Forced Labor Camp.
In Ms. Xiang's sentence it states that her crime was “visiting friends.” Her family asked, “We do not understand what crime she committed. On the verdict it says 'visiting friends.' How can visiting friends be a crime?”
Taking care of a mental patient is called "illegal detention"
In 1997 a 17-year-old girl named Liu Zhimei was admitted to Tsinghua University. She was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment and persecuted in Shandong Province Women's Prison because of practicing Falun Gong. Ms. Liu is from Sanqing Village, Tuanwang Town, Laiyang City, Shandong Province.
In November 2008 Liu Zhimei was injected with lethal poison a few days before she was released.
Two days after her release, the drug began to take effect. She became mentally confused. She could not take care of herself, talking nonsense and smashing things. Sometimes she would leave home without any clothing, or wet the bed. She would lie down and sleep on the ground at any time.
Local practitioners rented a house to take care of Liu Zhimei. Several women took turns to stay with her, reading Falun Gong books and chatting with her.
One day Liu Zhimei urinated in bed several times, yet they endured the situation and slept on the same bed with her. A nearly seventy-year-old practitioner bathed her again and again like a mother. She also cleaned Ms. Liu's clothes and bedding. She picked up the broken dishes Ms. Liu repeatedly smashed. Sometimes Liu Zhimei beat and scratched her, but she never complained. She always came to help Liu Zhimei after taking care of her own family.
Liu Zhimei became calmer and calmer. The intervals between her odd behavior became longer and longer.
Just when she had hope of recovery, on April 16, 2010 police from Laiyang Police Department suddenly broke into the house. They arrested Liu Zhimei and four Falun Gong practitioners who were helping her. Ma Shuguang, the head of Laiyang National Security Team, said their crime was taking care of Liu Zhimei in a home they rented, and accused them of illegally detaining her.
Isn't the kindness shown by these Falun Gong practitioners a rare and wonderful thing? How can taking care of someone in Liu Zhimei's condition be called “illegal detention” - and then used as an excuse for the authorities to punish them? Isn't this ridiculous?
The alleged crime keeps changing
At 2:00 pm on May 2, 2013, under the instigation of Qingdao City Political and Judiciary Committee and the 610 office, Qingdao police sent 70 plainclothes officers to surround Falun Gong practitioner Yang Naijian's home in Chunugu Village.
Police arrested Yang Naijian, his family, relatives and friends. Falun Gong practitioner Cui Luning was one of them. The excuse for the arrests was "a Falun Gong gathering."
On May 8, Cui Luning's husband and brother went to Xingchenglu Police Station to ask why Cui Luning had been arrested and to see her. On the criminal detention certificate given to them it stated that the crime was "using cults to disrupt the implementation of law." (Editor's Note: This charge is often used to falsely imprison and persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Yet Falun Gong is not a cult, nor is it recognized as one on China's official list of them. Nevertheless, the law is frequently cited in Falun Gong cases. Such is the rule of law in today's communist China)
On May 22, Cui Luning's husband and a lawyer named Tang went to the National Security Team. A policeman called Sun told them: “The charge against them has changed. It is now 'crimes against national security.'"
Why can't Falun Gong practitioners talk together? Endangering national security? Nonsense! They have no weapons. They are just average citizens who follow Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, the central principle of Falun Gong. Using such an extreme charge to frame them is clearly a fabrication.
Are state secrets so easy to leak?
On April 15, 2012, police from Binhe Police Branch Station and Shenhe District Police Department arrested Falun Gong practitioner Zhai Hui, a food researcher. The reason given for the arrest was "suspicion of installing satellite dishes for watching TV to leak state secrets."
Zhai Hui's daughter, a second year middle school student, questioned them on the spot: "Do you think that state secrets are so easy to leak? We normal people watching TV via satellite dishes are leaking state secrets? Aren't satellite dishes produced in this country? People around the world can listen to radio and watch television. Why can't we Chinese people do that?"
So these are a few examples that illustrate the lengths that CCP officials will go to in their efforts to crush Falun Gong. We say in the Western world that “what goes around comes around.” Imagine what lies in store for these corrupt CCP officials who wantonly persecute people simply for their beliefs.
