(Minghui.org) In the first six months of 2013, agents with the 610 Office and local government officials in Xiangtan City, Hunan Province, illegally arrested and detained 14 Falun Gong practitioners. One of them, Ms. Huang Duohong, was tried and sentenced to ten years in prison. The other practitioners are Mr. Yang Shiyi, Mr. Liu Liyan, Ms. Hu Dongxia, Ms. Wen Meilian, Mr. Liu Heqing, Ms. Zhao Xiuying, Ms. Liao Jingming, Ms. Liu Huilan, Ms. Yan Xiuying, Ms. Nong Jianhua, Ms. Cao Lijiao, Mr. Tang Xinnian, and Ms. Li Jianru.
The following is a brief description of how these practitioners were persecuted.
At 4 p.m. on January 12, Ms. Cao Lijiao from Jiangbin in the Yuetang District of Xiangtan was distributing calendars in Yuetang. Liu Liangqiu and two other officers from Wulidui Street Police Station in Bantangpu, Xiangtan, accosted Ms. Cao, who refused to go with them and made a scene. People started to gather and accused the police of a baseless arrest. Seeing that the situation was out of control, the police called for help and two more officers came. The five of them dragged Ms. Cao to the Wulidui Police Station.
On January 12, Mr. Tang Xinnian from Bantangpu, Xiangtan, learned that Ms. Cao had been taken into custory and went to Wulidui Police Station to ask for her release. He clarified the facts of the persecution to Liu Liangqiu, but he refused to listen and arrested Mr. Tang. At 3 a.m. the next day, the police took Ms. Cao and Mr. Tang to Jintangwan Detention Center and locked them up for 15 days.
On January 14, officers from Daolin Town Police Station in Ningxiang County, Changsha City, Hunan, arrested Mr. Yang Shiyi from Xiangtan. They took him to the Ningxiang County Detention Center. Officers from Ningxiang County Domestic Security Division interrogated Mr. Yang many times and threatened him with prison time. The 610 Office in Xiangtan later colluded with the 610 Office in Ningxiang and sent Mr. Yang to the Ningxiang County Detention Center. Mr. Yang was denied family visits. That same day Ningxiang County police arrested Mr. Liu Liyan and locked him in the Ningxiang County Detention Center for 15 days.
Ms. Huang Duohong
On April 10, the Yuhu District Court tried Ms. Huang Duohong in Sanjiaoping Detention Center in Xiangtan City. Ms. Huang's attorney from Beijing presented evidence in her defense and asked the court to acquit her with all charges dismissed. The judge claimed that he would make a decision after talking to his superiors. Ms. Huang was later sentenced to ten years. She has filed an appeal.
Ms. Huang used to run a stationery store in the Yuhu District of Xiangtan. Since the Chinese regime launched the persecution of Falun Gong in July 20, 1999, she has been detained many times. She went to Beijing to appeal to the authorities. The police arrested and detained her. She was viciously beaten. In 2001, she was transferred to Baimalong Forced Labor Camp in Zhuzhou for two years. In the camp, the guards stuffed mops in her mouth, slapped her, kicked her crotch, and stomped on her toes. In the past 14 years, Ms. Huang was forced to become destitute many times to avoid persecution. She was arrested twice in the past seven years.
On April 18, ten people from Xiangshui Township Police Station and the Jiuhua District Public Security Bureau broke into the home of practitioner Ms. Zhao Xiuying. They confiscated her Falun Dafa pictures and books. These people also went to the homes of Ms. Liao Jingming, Ms. Liu Huilan, and Ms. Yan Xiuying to carry out illegal searches. They confiscated many of the practitioners' belongings.
At 11 a.m. on April 28, a dozen people from Baota Road Police Station arrested Ms. Li Jianru. She was taken to Jintangwan Detention Center at 1 p.m. the same day and incarcerated for ten days.
In the morning on May 9, six officers from the Yuhu Public Security Brigade and Heling Police Station in the Manganese Mine Area in Xiangtan broke into Ms. Hu Dongxia's home and arrested her. They confiscated her personal belongings. She was released on May 24.
At noon on May 9, officers from the Domestic Security Division of Yuhu Police Department and Heling Police Station in the Manganese Mine Area broke into Ms. Wen Meilian's home. They confiscated her belongings and arrested her. Ms. Wen failed the physical for incarceration and was released at 11 p.m. that day.
At noon on May 9, Qiu Li from Hetang Police Station in Xiangtan and six other officers broke into Ms. Cao Lijiao's residence again and arrested her. They took her to the Jintangwan Detention Center and locked her up for 15 days.
On May 22, officers from Shuyuan Road Police station arrested Ms. Nong Jianhua in the neighborhood of Shuyuan Road in Yuetang District.
On May 30, officers from Yuntang Police Station arrested Mr. Liu Heqing, who is from Yisuhe Town, Xiangtan. Mr. Liu removed the materials on a billboard that slandered Falun Gong. Because of his belief in Falun Gong, agents of the 610 Office put Mr. Liu into forced labor camps three times and mental hospitals twice. He was detained in the Laodaohe Brainwashing Center in Changsha for a month in October 2012.
