(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Tan Zhen is from Dezhou City, Shandong Province. She is still detained in the former Tumuji Forced Labor Camp in Inner Mongolia.
Ms. Tan was arrested in Beijing. At the time she was staying with another practitioner, Ms. Chao Jianou, also from Dezhou. On March 1, 2012, Ms. Chao was arrested for distributing Shen Yun DVDs. The police also ransacked her home.
Ms. Tan had only been in Ms. Chao's home for two days. The police saw that Ms. Tan had Falun Gong books and arrested her. The two practitioners were sent to Beijing Daxing Women's Forced Labor Camp.
On June 25, they were transferred to Tumuji Forced Labor Camp located in Jalaid Banner, Hinggan League, Inner Mongolia.
Recently, due to Falun Gong practitioners' activities to end the persecution, as well as other pressures and condemnation from society in general, the forced labor camp has been changed to an addiction treatment center, and its detainees are being released, including some Falun Gong practitioners.
However, the Chinese Communist regime is just changing its tactics. If the released Falun Gong practitioners refused to be “transformed,” when their local authorities came to pick them up, the forced labor camp told them to either sentence the practitioners to prison or send them to brainwashing centers.
Still Detained
Ms. Tan has been among the most determined practitioners who refused to be “transformed,” and the forced labor camp has continued to detain her and several other unswerving practitioners.
There are still ten female practitioners being held in the women's team of the forced labor camp. Those whose release dates are near include Ms. Guo Kang, Ms. Shen Yueqian, and Ms. Chao Jianou. It is not known when other seven--Ms. Tan Zhen, Ms. Wang Chunxia, Ms. Yue Jun, Ms. Wang Li, Ms. Wang Ye, Ms. Tang Guilin, and Ms. Lulin--will be released.
Persecuted in the Past
After the persecution of Falun Gong started in 1999, Ms. Tan went with her mother, Ms. Yu Lianchun, to Beijing to appeal. They were escorted back to Dezhou City and detained and monitored in the dormitory of the Dezhou Power Plant, where Ms. Yu had once been employed. In early 2000, Ms. Yu was sent to a forced labor camp.
In October, 2000, Ms. Tan was sent to a brainwashing session in Dongfang Hotel in Dezhou City by the police and CCP personnel at Dezhou Power Plant. She was detained there for a month.
In December 2000, Ms. Tan again went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing to clarify the facts about Falun Gong. The police captured her and took her to the Qianmen Police Station. She was transferred to the Fangshan Detention Center in Beijing two days later and then escorted back to Shandong Province and detained at the Dezhou Detention Center. Shortly after, she was transferred to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp and held for three years.
While Ms. Tan was in the forced labor camp, her mother passed away due to torture. The authorities did not allow Ms. Tan to see her mother's body. At the time, Ms. Tan was in her early 20s and not married.
Ms. Tan moved to Beijing after being released and later married. Deceived by the slanderous CCP propaganda, her husband divorced her because she continued to practice Falun Gong. Ms. Tan was forced to leave her home and live alone. She first stayed in an apartment in Beijing. When her apartment lease was up, she moved out of town to the home of Ms. Chao Jianou. She was again arrested and sent to a forced labor camp as described above.
