Husband and Wife Detained, Daughter Persecuted for Hiring a Lawyer

(Minghui.org) A husband and wife are detained for their belief in Falun Gong, while their daughter was arrested and tortured, but managed to escape.

Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Qin Songfa and his wife Ms. Xu Xiuzhen from Xiazhuang Town, Gaomi City, Shandong Province, were arrested on March 5, 2016 by local police for distributing Falun Gong informational materials. They are currently detained in the Weifang Detention Center and Gaomi Detention Center.

Their daughter, Ms. Qin Shaohua,who is also a practitioner, hired a lawyer to defend them. She and the lawyer went to the Gaomi Detention Center on March 15, and requested to meet her father. The detention center called the Domestic Security Division and was told that the lawyer could not meet Mr. Qin.

However, Ms. Qin was arrested on March 17 by police from the Xiazhuang Town Police Station and the Gaomi Police Department Domestic Security Division.

The director of the police station had the police take Ms. Qin to the Weifang Detention Center and put her under criminal detention.

Ms. Qin Recounts Her Ordeal

Ms. Qin said, “A police officer from the Xiazhuang Town Police Station called me on March 17 and told me to pick up my parents electric motor vehicle that they had confiscated.”

On arrival at the police station, Xu Jichun, the officer in charge of persecuting Falun Gong, interrogated her.

Ms. Qin said, “A male and female police officer searched me and confiscated from my handbag a Falun Gong amulet, my home key, cell phone, note pad as well as 290 yuan.”

Four officers took turns to watch her in the interrogation room. Then, she was put in solitary confinement.

“The solitary confinement was damp and cold,” she said.“It was agonizing and I was close to a mental collapse. Finally, I was released from the solitary confinement.”

Then, they demanded that she sign a document. The document was the order to put her under criminal detention at the Weifang Detention Center. She refused to sign.

She said that at 6 p.m., two male and a female officer drove her toward her home, with the intent to ransack it, but she escaped.
