(Minghui.org) Mr. Miao Pu was sentenced to a seven-year prison term in 2011 for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
The Dongning City resident has been subjected to various forms of abuse since being imprisoned. In particular, the guards at Mudanjiang Prison ran a marathon torture session that lasted eight days in early December 2015.
Guards Zhao Chunqiang and Bi Haipo were responsible for leading the torture session.
Zhao struck Mr. Miao in the face dozens of times, knocking out two of his teeth, then shocked Mr. Miao with an electric baton. Mr. Miao’s chest and neck were covered with blisters, and his nipples were badly charred.
The two guards also ordered Yang Jinguo and five other inmates to beat Mr. Miao on a daily basis, and to pour cold water all over him in a room with the window wide open. In the frigid winter in northeast China, temperatures could go as low as minus 4 Fahrenheit.
Mr. Miao was also deprived of sleep during the 8-day stretch. He developed cardiac failure, and was sent to the prison hospital multiple times.
