Additional Persecution News from China – September 1, 2016 (25 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 23 cities or counties in 12 provinces. According to this report, 31 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 17 practitioners were illegally arrested.

Ms. Xi Liling was harassed in recent days by authorities in her area. Moreover, they forcibly took blood samples from her.

2. [Junan County, Shandong Province] Ms. Cheng Yu Arrested

Ms. Cheng Yu, about 30, was arrested by officers from Taoyuan Police Station, in Hedong District, Linyi City, around August 28, 2016.

3. [Linyi City, Shandong Province] Ms. Cheng Detained

Ms. Cheng and Ms. Liu were reported when they talked to people about Falun Gong. They were arrested by officers from Pengyubu Police Station on the morning of August 28, 2916. Ms. Liu was released. Ms. Cheng remains in custody.

4. [Linyi County, Shanxi Province] Ms. Zhang Xuezan and Family Arrested

Five officers from Sanguan Township Police Station went to Ms. Zhang Xuezan's home to arrest her on August 29, 2016. Ms. Zhang's husband, Mr. Dong Youcai, stopped them. A short while later, about 20 SWAT Team officers came. Ms. Zhang was arrested by officers from Huangpu Township Police Station in Wanrong County. Mr. Dong and their son were arrested by officers from Linyi County Police Department. Mr. Dong was detained for five days. Their relatives used connections to get Mr. Dong's son released.

5. [Dandong City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yang Aiping Detained

Ms. Yang Aiping, a former director of Danzhi Technical School, was arrested by officers from Maokuishan Police Station on August 28, 2016. Her home was ransacked. She is being held in Dandong Detention Center.

6. [Tai'an City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yang Quanmei Arrested

Ms. Yang Quanmei was arrested by officers from Longquan Police Station on August 30, 2016. Her home was ransacked.

7. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners Arrested

Officers from Linqu Police Department, the 610 Office, and the Domestic Security Division arrested Ms. Cui Wenlan, Ms. Yu Hongmei, Ms. Qiao Cuibo, and several other practitioners on the morning of August 30, 2016. When the practitioners' families went to ask for their release that afternoon, they learned that the practitioners had been taken away. Their whereabouts are unknown.

8. [Huanggang City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhang Shoufeng and Ms. Zhang Xifeng Detained

Ms. Zhang Shoufeng and Ms. Zhang Sifeng, from Fenlu Town, Huangmei County, were reported when they talked to people about Falun Gong. They were arrested by officers from Xinkai Police Station on the afternoon of August 27, 2016. They were taken to Huangmei County Detention Center.

9. [Chongqing] Ms. Tan Kezhen and Ms. Liu Jiaqin Harassed

Tan Zurong, Party secretary of Changfeng Residential Committee in Jingjin District, broke into Ms. Tan Kezhen's home and harassed her on the morning of July 25, 2016 for suing Jiang Zemin (the former Chinese Communist Party leader who initiated the persecution of Falun Gong). The Party secretary ordered Ms. Tan, 83, to write the three guarantees. She refused to comply. She reasoned with the Party secretary by presenting strong facts. She was not arrested due to her old age.

That afternoon several plainclothes officers led by Li Zhengquan, a member of the Comprehensive Management Office, broke into Ms. Liu Jiaqin's home. Ms. Liu was not at home at the time. It is assumed they were there to again harass her for filing a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong, an MP3 player, and other personal items.

10. [Luoyang City, Henan Province] Six Practitioners Arrested and Five Have Unknown Whereabouts

Mr. He Zhaoxu, Ms. Liu Yueqin, Ms. Yao Qiulan, Ms. Zhang Xinghua, Ms. Cui Yumin, and Ms. Li Jixiang, from Xigong District, were arrested when they distributed Falun Gong informational materials on the morning of Augured 15, 2016. They were taken to Luoyang City Detention Center for administrative detention.

Mr. He was released on Augured 30, after his family paid a fine. The other five practitioners' whereabouts are unknown.

11. [Laiyang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Gao Meiying Arrested

Ms. Gao Meiying from Xishitou Village in Jiangtuan Town was arrested at home on September 1, 2016 by five police officers led by Gao Songheng, head of the neighborhood security office. They confiscated a computer, a printer, and printed materials.

12. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Mr. Yang Gangdan and Ms. Gao Guoqin Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Wang Yuan, Mr. Han Junping, Ms. Gao Guoqin, Ms. Liu Guizhen, and Mr. Yang Gangdan, from Xingtang County, were reported when they distributed Falun Gong informational materials. They were arrested by officers from Yanzhuang Police Station on December 9, 2014. Later, they were taken to Xingtang County Police Department and Longzhou Police Department for detention.

The following day, Ms. Mi Junying from Zhiyang Village was arrested. Her home was ransacked.

Subsequently, the four female practitioners were taken to Shijiazhuang for detention. The two male practitioners were taken to Xingtang Detention Center.

The Xingtang County Court held a trial of the practitioners last year. Verdicts for two practitioners were delivered on July 28, 2016. Mr. Yang was sentenced to three years and two months in prison. Ms. Gao was sentenced to three years in prison, with four years of probation.

13. [Jimo City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wang Jijing and Mr. Li Taoyuan Officially Placed Under Arrest

Mr. Wang Jijing and Mr. Li Taoyuan were officially placed under arrest by the Jimo City Procuratorate on August 23, 2016.

14. [Liuzhou City, Guangxi Province] Ms. Wei Meijin and Ms. Duan Xiuxia Detained

Ms. Wei Meijin and Ms. Duan Xiuxia from Tangshan City in Hebei Province were arrested when they talked to people about Falun Gong near Dawu Village, Zhongmai Town, Liucheng County, Liuzhou City, Guangxi Province, on the morning of August 20, 2016. They were taken to Liucheng County Detention Center for 15 days of detention.

Ms. Wei was from Shawoxinzhuangzi Village, Fengnan District, while Ms. Duan was from Puzhuangzi Village, Chahe Town, Fengnan District.

15. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Held in Custody for Extended Periods

Mr. Zhao Chengyao has been held in custody for over two years, far beyond the maximum number of days legally allowed.

Mr. Miao Peihua and Ms. Yu Jiling have also been held for over one year.

16. [Da'an City, Jilin Province] Mr. Liu Hongbo Arrested

Mr. Liu Hongbo was arrested at home on August 31, 2016.

17. [Chongqing] Mr. Deng Xinzhe and Ms. Wang Hengmei Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Deng Xinzhe, a retired teacher from Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences, was arrested in late September 2015. He was held in Yongchuan District Detention Center. Recently, he was sentenced to one year in prison by the Yongchuan District Court.

Ms. Wan Hengmei was tried by the Yongchuan District Court on May 24, 2016. She was recently sentenced to one year in prison.

Ms. Wan and her husband, Mr. Li Chaogui, were arrested by the head of the Domestic Security Sub-Division of Yongchuan District Police Department and two sub-division officers named He Chengjun and Liu Yong on October 30, 2015. The officers ransacked the couple's home. They confiscated DVDs and an MP3. Mr. Li returned home that day. Ms. Wan was taken to Yongchuan Detention Center.

18. [Liupanshui City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Li Xiaocai and Ms. Gong Shimin Arrested

Ms. Li Xiaocai and Ms. Gong Shimin from Pan County were arrested around April 2016. Their whereabouts are unknown.

19. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Xiuying Taken to Detention Center

Ms. Liu Xiuying has been taken to Xidayingzi Detention Center.

20. [Xuchang City, Henan Province] Three Practitioners Detained

Ms. Jiang Shuiling, Mr. Wang Huimin, and Mr. Liu Haifeng were detained.

Ms. Su, 61, was arrested at home by two officers from Xinchun Police Station in Nanguan District on the evening of August 31, 2016.

22. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Lu Lifang Arrested

Ms. Lu Lifang was arrested at home on August 26, 2016.

23. [Ulanqab City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Ms. Yang Fengyan and Ms. Duan Xiuyun Detained

Ms. Yang Fengyan (from Liangjietai Village, Dukoubao Township, Huai'an County, Hebei Province) and Ms. Duan Xiuyun (from Pingyuanbao Village, Dayingpan Township, Tianzhen County, Shanxi Province) were reported when they distributed Falun Gong informational materials in Dianzi Town, Xinghe County, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. They were arrested and taken to Xinghe County Police Department. Both practitioners are being held in Ulanqab City Detention Center.

24. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Qi Fengqiu Taken to Prison

Ms. Qi Fengqiu has been taken to Shenyang Prison.

25. [Shaoyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Luo Tongchun Detained

Long Yanyun, head of Shaodong County Domestic Security Division, and other officers came to Ms. Luo Tongchun's home and ransacked it on the morning of September 1, 2016. They confiscated three Nine Commentaries DVDs and 49 copies of Falun Gong books. Ms. Luo, in her 70s, was arrested and taken to Xinglong Detention Center in Shaodong County for 15 days of detention.
