(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 17 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Kaiyuan City, Yunnan Province] Ms. Wang Chunmei Framed with Falsified Charges
Ms. Wang Chunmei was arrested by the Kaiyuan City police on May 27, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Honghezhou Detention Center, and has been held there for over two and a half months. Her family has not been allowed to visit her.
Ms. Wang was indicted on June 10. Her family hired a lawyer, and were surprised to find out that in Ms. Wang's case files the police had fabricated evidence and listed items that Ms. Wang has never owned. The police wanted to have her prosecuted on more serious charges.
2. [Beijing] Mr. Zhu Jianhua Taken to Detention Center
Mr. Zhu Jianhua, in his 60s, from the Chaoyang District was arrested on August 15, 2020. His home was ransacked, and a computer and printer were confiscated. He was taken to the Dongcheng District Detention Center.
3. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wu Shuzhen Held in Detention Center
Ms. Wu Shuzhen was arrested near Changchun Science and Technology City on the afternoon of August 15, 2020. Her home was ransacked at around 6:00 p.m.. The satellite dish installed outside the building was also confiscated.
Ms. Wu is being held in the Changchun City No. 4 Detention Center.
4. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Tan Xiuqing Facing Trial
Ms. Tan Xiuqing is due to be tried in the No. 6 Trial Chamber of the Chuanshan District Court at 9:00 a.m. on August 28, 2020.
5. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Zeng Xiaoli Arrested
Ms. Zeng Xiaoli has been arrested. Her whereabouts are unknown.
6. [Anguo City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhao Yueqin's Family Harassed
Ms. Zhao Yueqin lives in Zhongfuluo Village, Xifuluo Township. Her family members were harassed on the afternoon of August 25, 2020. Ms. Zhao was not at home at the time. Her family was asked whether Ms. Zhao was still practicing Falun Gong, and were told that she had paperwork to sign.
7. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Ruilian and Ms. Xia Youhui Harassed
Under orders from Huanggezhuang Town Police Station, Ma Xijing, Party secretary of Taipingzhuang Village, went to Ms. Zhang Ruilian’s home and harassed her on the afternoon of August 21, 2020. Ma told Ms. Zhang to sign three statements, which she refused. Ma then called Ms. Zhang’s husband and told him to have their children persuade Ms. Zhang to sign. Ma also told him that a man named Ma Weishuang in the village would come to talk to his wife that evening.
Fei Weiguo, Party secretary of Hongyapo Village, Huanggezhuang Town, went to Ms. Xia Youhui’s home and harassed her on the afternoon of August 23. Fei ordered her not to practice Falun Gong, and said that when the Chinese Communist Party does not let you practice, then you simply don't practice.
8. [Renqiu City, Hebei Province] Ms. Cui Lanqin Arrested
Ms. Cui Lanqin from Xin’anzhuang Village was arrested by officers from the Lvgongpu Police Station on August 24, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong.
9. [Luoyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Du Aixiang Detained For Over a Year
Ms. Du Aixiang, 71, was recorded on surveillance cameras posting Falun Gong materials and was arrested at home on July 19, 2019. Ms. Du was tried by the Mengjin Court four months later, with no verdict being reached.
She has been held in Mengjin County for over a year, and her family has not been allowed to visit her. Her pension has also been suspended. The detention center authorities have told her family to pay them 300 yuan every month for living expenses via bank transfer.
10. [Zhangjiachuan County, Gansu Province] Mr. Hong Liang Arrested
Mr. Hong Liang was arrested by the Zhangjiachuan County police around August 6, 2020.
He was previously sentenced to four years in prison by the Zhangjiachuan Court in December 2012.
11. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wen Yuming Harassed
Zhang Hebin, director of the Cangshi Supply and Marketing Cooperative in Hongtoushan Town, Qingyuan County, went to Mr. Wen Yuming’s home in mid-August 2020, and told him to write a guarantee statement to renounce his belief. Mr. Wen refused. Zhang then to Mr. Wen’s wife sign the paperwork, but she also refused.
12. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Chunying Arrested
Jiang Shilong, deputy director of the Zhangxianggong Police Station in the Nanpiao District, and over ten other officers went to 56-year-old Ms. Liu Chunying’s home and arrested her on June 13, 2020. They ransacked the place, and confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong, a printer, and a laptop computer. She was taken to the Nanpiao Police Department, and released on bail on June 14.
The police called Ms. Liu several times and told her to go to the police station. She went there on August 25 and was arrested.
13. [Heishan County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Suqin Arrested
Ms. Li Suqin from Dahushan Town was arrested on August 25, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong at the Dahushan Farmers' Market. Her whereabouts are unknown.
14. [Chongqing] Ms. Wang Xianglan Taken to ICU
Ms. Wang Xianglan is in her 70s. Her son received a phone call from the Shuangbei Police Station on August 14, 2020, and was told that his mother had been taken to ICU in Jialing Hospital. His son learned that his mother’s face was severely deformed.
15. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Yang Lijuan’s Family Harassed
Officer Gong Xingyi from the Chang’an Police Station called Ms. Yang Lijuan’s husband and harassed him on the afternoon of August 20, 2020. Gong told him to tell his wife to go to the police station to write and sign the three statements.
Gong said that the files about her being a Falun Gong practitioner would be removed after she signed the statements. However, if she refused to sign it would affect their child’s future.
16. [Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Lin Xiuqing Held in Detention Center
Ms. Lin Xiuqing was arrested by officers from the Haitou Police Station in June 2020, for distributing Falun Gong informational materials in the countryside. She is being held in the Port Authority Detention Center.
Her husband works out of town, and no one is able to take care of their child.
