(Minghui.org) The Jiangxi Women’s Forced Labor Camp, located at 826 Bolan Rd. Qingyunpu District, Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, was established in November 1991 and formally dismantled in October 2013.
During the 14 years between July 1999, when the Chinese Communist Party(CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong, and 2013, when the labor camp system in China was abolished, the Jiangxi Women’s Forced Labor Camp detained at least 249 female Falun Gong practitioners, using all kinds of most barbarous means of torture.
For example, in order to force practitioners to give up their faith, the guards frequently abused them and beat them up, forced them to stand still for long hours or to do intensive labor; practitioners were also subjected to freezing conditions, electric shock, hanging up in the air, intensive physical training, force-feeding, sleep deprivation, forced injection of unknown drugs, coercive brainwashing with slanderous publications and videos, humiliation, discrimination and other forms of maltreatment.
Due to tight information blockades by the CCP, some persecution cases have yet to be reported.
The 249 Falun Gong practitioners detained at Jiangxi Women’s Forced Labor Camp mostly came from various parts of the province, including 85 from Nanchang (11 were detained twice, 4 were detained three times, and one practitioner was detained five times); 44 from Jiujiang (2 were detained twice); 40 from Yichun (2 were detained twice); 11 were from Fuzhou (4 were detained twice); 4 were from Ji’an; 3 from Shangyao; 18 from Lanzhou (3 were detained twice, 1 was detained three times); 10 from Yingtan (2 were detained twice); 9 from Xinyu (1 was detained twice); 8 from Pingxiang (1 was detained twice); 15 from unidentified places, and 2 from other provinces.
Among the detained practitioners, at least three passed away as a result of the persecution and four suffered from mental disorders.

Severe Persecution Cases
Case 1. Deng Xiaomin suffered mental collapse due to persecution
Ms. Deng Xiaomin, born in 1977, from Yiyang County, used to be a primary school English teacher. She was unlawfully detained for three years at Jiangxi Women’s Forced Labor Camp for practicing Falun Gong, and was subjected to all kinds of cruel torture.
She was shocked with electric batons until she passed out many times; brutally force-fed until both her nostrils swelled up, festered and seeped pus.
Wang Junzheng, deputy leader of Division 1 (specially set up to persecute Falun Gong practitioners), once grabbed hold of her hair and dragged her into his office to beat her up.
Torture re-enactment: Shocking with electric baton
In freezing cold winter, Ms. Deng was cuffed to a metal bed frame and forced to stand throughout the night, and such torture lasted over two months.
She was also locked up in dark confinement for over two years.
Wei Xiaomei, an inmate assigned to watch over Ms. Deng, used all kinds of means to torture her and beat her up frequently.
Due to constant torture and maltreatment over a long period of time, Ms. Deng could no longer take it and suffered a severe mental collapse in the end.
She was released in March 2003, but was never able to recover from her ordeals. She would often beat people, smash things, talk incoherently, and eat very little.
No one knows her whereabouts at the moment.
Case 2. Wu Jingjun unlawfully detained five times, cruelly force-fed and beaten
Ms. Wu Jingjun was born in 1970. She used to work as the deputy head of the Finance Section of the Import and Export Company of Light Industry Products under Jiangxi Provincial Department of Economics and Trade (currently known as the Department of Commerce).
She was given five labor camp terms, including two 3-year terms, one 2-year term, one 1.5-year term, and one 1-year term.
To protest the persecution, Ms. Wu went on hunger strikes over ten times, and each time she was subjected to force-feeding.
She was tied to a bed in a spread eagle position. The perpetrators inserted a tube into her nostril, even when she was vomiting badly. When the tube was pulled out, it was covered in blood. An inmate was so frightened that she started shaking uncontrollably.
On a number of occasions, when the tube was inserted into her stomach, Ms. Wu vomited violently and her stomach cramped.
Ms. Wu suffered such force-feeding numerous times and her body was covered in blood and debris. She was not even allowed to wash herself, and sometimes she had to sleep in her urine for days and nights.
In April 2003, angered by Ms. Wu’s hunger strike, Division leader Hong Chuanghua grabbed hold of her hair and dragged her all the way from the 4th floor to the confinement cell on the 2nd floor. The deputy director of the labor camp, Deng Jian (male), also punched her hard in the head as she was being dragged downstairs. Deputy Division leader Shi Qiongying also punched her head repeatedly.
In November 2004, two inmates slapped Ms. Wu in the face and beat her up. Inmates were always encouraged by the labor camp administration to abuse practitioners.
Case 3. Pu Yuxian passed out from beating, both her legs were bleeding
Ms. Pu Yuxian was born in 1951, a former employee of Jiangling Motors Co., Ltd.
She was unlawfully arrested and given one year of forced labor, which was later extended by another eight months.
One day, four people (Division leaders Li Xiaoliang and Wang Junzheng, police doctors Xu Xiaoliang, and Fu) came to Ms. Pu’s cell, and tried to stop her from reciting Falun Gong teachings. When she refused to do so, the perpetrators took off their shoes and hit her face hard, and then they pushed her to the corner and hit her buttocks violently.
Ms. Pu was already very weak at the time for being on a hunger strike for a long time. She fell and was barely breathing. Her face turned dark blue, and her buttocks and her legs were swollen and stiff from beating. She passed out on the floor.
Still, the labor camp intensified the persecution of Ms. Pu, as she refused to give up her faith.
In the scorching summer, for more than two weeks, Ms. Pu was cuffed to a bare wire bed for days and nights on end. She was not allowed even to use the toilet, nor was she allowed to wash herself. The entire cell stank.
Once, a deputy director and Division leader Yang instructed a drug addict to lash her legs with a whip made from wire cloth hangers, causing her legs to bleed badly and swell up with bruises.
Case 4. Xiao Genxiang, palms were torn, bleeding from mouth and nose
Ms. Xiao Genxiang was born in 1950, a former employee of Jiangxi Hongdu Aviation Industry Group. She was twice unlawfully detained in Jiangxi Women’s Forced Labor Camp.
In the first half of 2000 when she was on a hunger strike, Ms. Xiao refused to be force-fed. Section head Deng Jian (male) pulled her violently and the second and third fingers of her left hand were severely torn and bloodied.
When Ms. Xiao was unlawfully detained again in 2002 to serve three years, the forced labor camp intensified the persecution to try to force her to “transform” (to renounce her belief in Falun Gong).
To cover up their crimes, the perpetrators locked her up alone in the west building where there was hardly anyone else. Ms. Xiao’s hands were tied to the back, and she was forced to stand still from 6:00 a.m. till 2:00 a.m. the next day, and this went on for seven days straight.
During the 20 long hours of standing, Ms. Xiao was also forced to stare at a TV, which continuously broadcast slanderous videos against Falun Gong. When she looked away, guards Chen Wen and Chen Ying would turn her head back to watch the programs.
Case 5. Chen Yulian, handcuffed and hung in the air, pricked with needles, scalded with boiling water, and her mouth stuffed with excrement and urine
Ms. Chen Yulian was born in 1956, a resident from Liantang Town, Nanchang County. She was unlawfully detained twice, for a total of three and a half years, and subjected to constant torture.
In May 2011, Ms. Chen was tortured every day simply because she did Falun Gong exercises.
The perpetrators cuffed her right hand to the iron frame of the upper bunk, her left leg to the frame of the lower bunk, and her arms were tied tightly in front of her chest. Division leader Hong Chuanghua used a long chain cuff to tightly tie up Ms. Chen’s body, so that she could not move at all and had breathing difficulties. She was tied up this way for three days and nights straight, causing her terrible suffering.
Inmate Xiaoqing also pricked the back of Ms. Chen’s hands and her knees with needles.
On a hot summer day in 2012, when Xiaoqing saw Ms. Chen meditating on the bed, she filled up a mug with boiling water and poured it around Ms. Chen’s waist. It was so painful that Ms. Chen twitched involuntarily.
Toward the end of 2012, Ms. Chen was again cuffed to the metal bunker for doing exercises. She shouted: “Falun Dafa is good!”
For fear that others could hear her, the guards instructed inmates Hong Yan, Wang Xiaoqiong, and duty officer He Xueying to stuff Ms. Chen’s mouth with a towel soaked in excrement and urine. They then sealed her mouth with a tape. The torture went on for hours until Ms. Chen passed out and stopped breathing.
Case 6. Li Fenyu was tied to “Dead Person’s Bed”, deprived of sleep and brutally beaten
Ms. Li Fenyu was born in 1957, a former employee of Nanchang Five-Star Reclamation Farm. She was unlawfully detained three times for a total of six years for practicing Falun Gong.
Around March 2001, Ms. Li was cuffed to a “Dead Person’s Bed” by Division leader Wang Junzheng (male) and guard Lu Xiuying for three days and three nights straight, during which time she went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution, and was forced to lie in her own excrement and urine.

On another occasion around May 2006, Ms. Li was forced to engage in “talks” till the middle of the night every evening for over three weeks. After the “talks,” she had to start cleaning the entire floor at 5:00 a.m. She suffered severe sleep deprivation as a result.
The guards also instigated Ms. Li’s 16-year-old daughter to put pressure on her. The physical torture and mental torment took a heavy toll on Ms. Li. She was often in a delirious state and almost suffered a mental collapse.
In May 2012, guard Lu Xiuying pulled at Ms. Li’s hair, grabbed her shoulders and violently slammed her against the wall.
In August of the same year, team leader Xu Yanping grabbed hold of Ms. Li’s collar and pushed her to the ground. Ms. Li’s shoulder landed hard on the edge of a concrete flower bed. She almost passed out due to the sharp pain.

She was unlawfully arrested and taken to Jiangxi Women’s Forced Labor Camp on March 24, 2006, to serve one and a half years of forced labor.
Ms. Yin was subjected to daily coercive brainwashing, solitary confinement under 24/7 surveillance by inmates assigned to monitor her. Due to poor ventilation in the narrow confinement cell, Ms. Yin, who was very healthy earlier, gradually developed symptoms of asthma, high blood pressure and heart disease.
Division One leader Lu Xiulian twice instructed a group of six or seven guards to force-feed Ms. Yin with poison and injected her with unknown drugs after she fell asleep under general anesthesia. The injection left a coin-sized dark-blue mark on the back of her hand, with a needle hole in the middle.
Ms. Yin continued to suffer from the poison in her body after she was released. She often collapsed and had no appetite. She suffered day and night from asthma, high blood pressure, heart disease, uremia and other symptoms, and was often struggling on the edge of death.
She was rushed to the emergency room three times in critical condition. She passed away on May 9, 2015.
Case 2. He Daozhen, brutally beaten and tortured, passed away in 2010
Ms. He Daozhen was born in 1952, a retiree from Jiujiang Leather Shoes Factory. She was unlawfully detained in Jiangxi Women’s Forced Labor Camp for a year and suffered severe physical torture and mental torment.
Ms. He was locked in a confinement cell as soon as she was taken to the labor camp, where she was subjected to daily abuse and beatings by two drug addicts assigned to monitor her, as well as the torturous “military training.”
Once, a guard asked Ms. He to write her experiences at the camp, and as soon as she wrote the word “persecution,” the guard instructed drug addicts to beat her up, and another guard, who was on duty, turned a deaf ear to her screaming from pain.
For a period of time, Ms. He was forced to watch slanderous programs on TV every day. When she refused to watch, the perpetrators would make life very difficult for her.
When she was released a year later, Ms. He, who had suffered all kinds of torture, had an ulcerated mass on her neck, which was festering and bleeding, and very difficult to heal. She passed away on April 24, 2010.

Still, the perpetrators tortured her and injected her with unknown drugs, causing her symptoms of high blood pressure and heart disease.
By the end of 2008, Ms. Wang’s blood pressure became critically high and she was released on bail for medical treatment.
Ms. Wang passed away on March 23, 2015. She was only 47 years old.
Case 4. Ouyang Shengqin suffered a mental collapse due to violent beating
Ms. Ouyang Shengqin was born around 1964. She was twice unlawfully detained in Jiangxi Women’s Forced Labor Camp, in 2000 and 2010 respectively.
She refused to engage in forced labor as she believed she was innocent for having faith in Falun Gong. As a result, the guards instructed a group of four or five inmates to beat her.
They hit her in the head, causing it to become swollen and deformed.
The guards also instigated another drug addict inmate from Shangyao to beat up Ms. Ouyang numerous times, and her screams could be heard far and wide.
Once, detainees were told to shift cells. Ms. Ouyang forgot to take a pair of shoes, so she went back to pick it up.
However, Division leader Li (male) dragged her to the office and beat her up simply because Ms. Ouyang did not report her return to the old cell to pick up her shoes.
When Ms. Ouyang’s nephew and niece went to visit her in 2011, they saw that her head and face were badly swollen from beating. They were so heartbroken that they could not help crying loudly.
By the time when Ms. Ouyang was released in 2011, she had already become mentally disordered as a result of persecution.
Case 5. Elderly Li Guihua suffered various forms of cruel torture
Ms. Li Guihua was born in 1947. She was unlawfully detained twice in Jiangxi Women’s Forced Labor Camp, in 2006 and 2009 respectively, for practicing Falun Gong.
While in detention, Ms. Li was subjected to all kinds of maltreatment and torture. For example, when she refused to wear the uniform for criminal inmates, Division leader Hong Chuanghua instructed drug addict inmate Wang Xiaoying to strip off all her clothes, leaving only her underwear and bra.
Ms. Li was also cuffed and forced to stand still at night over a period of four months for doing the Falun Gong exercises.
When she refused to renounce her faith in Falun Gong, the perpetrators forced excrement into her mouth, and poured cold water from the top of her head, then soaked her quilt and the cotton-padded mattress.
As if such abuse was not hurting her enough, the perpetrators pierced her body with needles, pinched her flesh with a pair of pliers, and pulled out her finger nails. One evildoer also bit off a piece of flesh from her finger.
They grabbed hold of her hair, pressed her head to the ground and hit it and her back violently; someone also pulled her ears hard, and a piece of flesh was torn off from her ear. Ms. Li was also cuffed and hung up in the air from time to time, for a total of 15 days.
She was detained the second time in November 2009, and for the next two years, she suffered maltreatment and cruel torture every day, until she was released on November 28, 2011.

Ms. Xia Cuilan was born in 1961. She used to work as an accountant in the Bureau of Materials and Equipment of Pengze County.
She was unlawfully arrested and detained in Jiangxi Women’s Forced Labor Camp in July 2008 for practicing Falun Gong.
When she refused to wear the uniform for criminal inmates and to do forced labor, the guards locked her up in confinement, force-fed her with unknown substances, and hung her up in the air for a whole week; she was not let down even when she needed to use the toilet or to eat and drink. The torture was extremely painful.
During the so-called “military training,” the guards deliberately gave wrong orders, resulting in Ms. Xia standing on one leg, which the guards dubbed “golden rooster standing on one leg.” Ms. Xia suffered substantially and she could not even walk properly after the “military training.”
From June 2009, Ms. Xia was tied to a bed for over 40 days. She was not even allowed to wash herself or use the toilet. During the torture, she passed out a number of times due to excruciating pain.
In addition, she was also hung up in the air for seven or eight hours straight, till she passed out. Abuses by inmates encouraged by the guards were commonplace in the forced labor camp.
The perpetrators extended Ms. Xia’s term by two more months because of her firm belief in Falun Gong.
When she was finally released, Ms. Xia had become so skinny that she looked like a skeleton.

She was unlawfully arrested for practicing Falun Gong and taken to Jiangxi Women’s Forced Labor Camp around 2007.
When she first arrived, she looked very elegant and composed, with a beautiful complexion.
The forced labor camp put Ms. He in an extremely intensive brainwashing process, with officers taking turns “talking” to her, forcing her to watch materials that slandered Falun Gong or complete highly labor-intensive jobs in a tight timeframe. When she got so tired and sat on her bed for a short break, the guards would yell at her, accusing her of pretending to be sick, and punish her by forcing her to stand still for long hours.
Due to long-time physical torture and mental torment, Ms. He has become mentally ill, and she often yells out in the middle of the night, with her eyes staring into space. She dresses randomly with no concern for the season, skips meals, but looks for food in trash bins.
It’s truly heartbroken that a healthy and beautiful person has been persecuted into insanity, with a body no more than a bag of bones.

The guards also put poison in her food, and only five minutes later, she started showing obvious symptoms, such as dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, and mental confusion.
A month later, Ms. Lu was often in a semi-insane and semi-conscious state. When her menstruation came, she did not know how to take care of herself and her menstrual flow stained everywhere. She put her hands into two shoes and crawled on the floor; sometimes she would kick the cell door, yelling out that she wanted to go home.
Guards Lu Xiuying and Zhou Zhihong showed no sympathy toward Ms. Lu and burst out laughing in amusement. Division leader Wang Junzheng went even further and handcuffed Ms Lu to keep her under control.
One day, Ms. Lu climbed up to the window and fell hard to the ground from over three meters high, breaking her lumbar spine and injuring both feet.
When she was unlawfully detained the second time, Ms. Lu suffered coercive military training, and was forced to stand still for long hours or do heavy labor work without pay, and was locked up in confinement.

During her second detention, Ms. Ao experienced constant maltreatment. She was not allowed to buy any daily necessities or to use the toilet. She was handcuffed to an metal bed and not allowed to use the restroom. Ms. Ao was virtually on the verge of death.
Even so, division leaders Li (male) and Wang Junzheng battered her brutally. They handcuffed her to a window frame and struck her 18 times with electric batons. When she passed out, the perpetrators said she was faking death.
They then ordered inmates to handcuff Ms. Ao’s hands to the frame of a metal bed, tied up her feet and pulled them in different directions. Her body was thus fixed to the metal bed. The guards also slapped her in the face four times before they left.

In 2007, Ms. Li suffered severe vaginal bleeding as a result of the abuse and she passed out a number of times. Once when she went to empty a bed pan, she fell hard onto the filthy concrete floor and lost consciousness.
Worried that Ms. Li might die in the forced labor camp, the authorities released her on bail for medical treatment.
Case 2. Zhang Song, an anesthesiologist in Dayu County, was beaten, scolded and choked
Ms. Zhang Song was born in 1975 and she used to work as an anesthesiologist in Dayu County People’s Hospital.
She was first detained in Jiangxi Women’s Forced Labor Camp in the first half of 2006 for practicing Falun Gong, and suffered constant mistreatment as soon as she was taken there.
Towards the end of 2006, team leader Zhou Zhihong locked Ms. Zhou in a confinement cell and deprived her of basic rights, such as family visitation, writing letters, buying daily essentials, washing herself, or even using the restroom.
Ms. Zhang and three inmates assigned to monitor her were confined in a small cell of a few squares meters day in and day out, and the stench in the cell was so bad that one could hardly breathe.
Ms. Zhang was detained again in October 2009. She was forced to watch slanderous videos and read books against Falun Gong.
Once when she was being forced to “transform” (to renounce her faith in Falun Gong), she felt very uncomfortable in her stomach and needed to use the toilet. However, her request was deliberately ignored by guards.
In desperation, she rushed to the toilet, but was immediately grabbed by inmates under the instruction of the guards. They choked her, slapped her in the face, and bashed her hands when she was holding onto a window frame.
Later, the forced labor camp accused Ms. Zhang of having a bad attitude and punished her by extending her detention term.

Yingtan City is a prefecture-level city in Jiangxi Province under the jurisdiction of Guixi City and Yujiang County (currently Yujiang District). At least 10 Falun Gong practitioners from Yingtan had been unlawfully detained in Jiangxi Women’s Forced Labor Camp, and 2 of them were detained twice.

Severe Persecution Cases
Case 1. Gao Jinfeng from Yujiang County became mentally ill due to persecution
Ms. Gao Jinfeng, whose exact date of birth unknown, was in her 50s when she was beaten and tortured in Jiangxin Women’s Forced Labor Camp.
The guards instigated inmates to torture Ms. Jin by kicking her in the head with their leather shoes, kneeing her in the chest and mouth, and covering her mouth with a towel to stop her from screaming. They tortured her this way every day, saying that they would go on doing so until she gave up her faith in Falun Gong.
Ms. Gao went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution, but the perpetrators beat her until she passed out.
For fear of bearing the responsibility if she died, the guards brought her back to the cell and put her on intravenous drip and oxygen.
It only took the perpetrators a few days to turn Ms. Gao, a healthy woman in her 50s, into one with a mental disorder, who no longer knew who she was. She kept screaming because of unbearable headaches.
After Ms. Jin became mentally ill, the guards fabricated accusations, saying that she became insane because she practiced Falun Gong.
The forced labor camp still refused to release Ms. Gao until after another round of coercive brainwashing.
Case 2. Li Meilian was handcuffed to “Dead Person’s Bed” and tied to “Tiger Bench”
Ms. Li Meilian from Yingtan County was born in 1965. She was twice unlawfully detained, in 2000 and 2012, respectively.
During her first detention, Ms. Li went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Section head Deng Jian (male) grabbed her throat so hard that she was almost knocked unconscious.
On another occasion, Division head Wang Junzheng (male) beat her up, and then handcuffed her to a “Dead Person’s Bed” in a spread eagle position. It was an extremely cruel form of torture and caused excruciating pains to the victim.
When prison doctor Fu came for inspection, he not only showed no sympathy toward Ms. Li, but also smashed her head and face with a set of handcuff. Ms. Li’s face immediately swelled up and deformed.
When Ms. Li was detained the second time, she refused to wear the uniform for criminal inmates and went on a hunger strike for three days and nights.
In order to torture her even more severely, the forced labor camp purchased a torture tool known as the “Tiger Bench.”
Torture re-enactment: Tortured on the “Tiger Bench”
The perpetrators tied Ms. Li to the “Tiger Bench” to force-feed her, most likely mixed with poison, because as soon as they finished force-feeding her, Ms. Li suffered great discomfort in her abdomen. Division Wang Junzheng also bashed her violently.
Case 3. Liu Chang’e was tortured by hanging up and electric shock
Ms. Liu Chang’e was born in 1953, a retiree from a bank in Yingtan City. She was twice unlawfully detained, first in 2002 and then in 2009. While being detained, one of her arms was pulled so hard by the inmates assigned to monitor her that it was strained.
During her first detention, she was often tortured for not giving up her faith in Falun Gong. For example, she was often handcuffed to a metal window frame, higher than herself, and each time she was handcuffed for at least three days, sometimes ten days or even half a month. Each day, she was so tortured for seven or eight hours straight.
She was also often locked up in confinement, shocked with electric batons, and forced to do unpaid labor. When she could not finish the workload in time, the perpetrators would extend her term of detention as punishment.
Once, guard Guo Li searched Ms. Liu’s cell and found some Falun Gong teachings. Guo immediately slapped her hard in the face repeatedly.
In August 2010 during her second detention, Ms. Liu suffered severe back pain, but she was still forced to get off her bed to finish the required workload.

Ms. Li was denied family visitation and was not allowed to write any letters. She and the two inmates had to eat, drink, and relieve themselves in the small cell of a few square meters, making the place unbearably smelly.
In January 2002, Ms. Li was detained for the second time in the same forced labor camp for two years, during which time she was again subjected to all kinds of maltreatment, including being locked in confinement and monitored 24/7 by inmates assigned by the guards.
She was not allowed to open the door for any fresh air even during the scorching summer. She was deprived of family visitation and forced to do unpaid labor every day. She was also put through coercive brainwashing and was constantly beaten and abused.

The perpetrators also handcuffed her and had her hung up in the air for a number of days straight; she was battered and her whole body was covered with wounds and bruises; the perpetrators also thrust a toilet brush into her vagina and twisted it violently, causing her extreme pain.
In 2006, when she was on a hunger strike, Division 1 instructor Lu Xiuying cuffed Ms. Huang to a metal bed and maliciously force-fed her by pushing a rubber tube down into her stomach. Blood spurt out her mouth, as far as three meters away.
The severe persecution seriously damaged Ms. Huang’s health and her life was in grave danger. She had to be taken to hospital several times for emergency treatment.
