(Minghui.org) May 13, 2024 was the 25^th World Falun Dafa Day and the 32nd anniversary of Falun Dafa’s public introduction. Canadian Federal Shadow Ministers, Members of Parliament, the Premier of Alberta, mayors and city councilors of Calgary and other towns in Alberta sent letters to honor the occasion.

Rachael Thomas MP wrote, “The free teachings of Falun Dafa have helped people around the world improve their lives by promoting the values of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance. Your work has helped to create a healthier and more harmonious society. However, this work has not been without persecution. I stand with you in condemning all human rights violations conducted against the Falun Dafa. Your courage is commendable.”

The letter reads, “Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance are three of the values that Canadians have held dear since our country’s beginning. Those guiding principles of Falun Dafa are, we hope, universal. They are the cornerstones on which we can build a society.

“Values do not exist in a vacuum, For many people, such as those who practice Falun Dafa, they come through the application of a spiritual discipline. Such disciplines can transcend cultural and ethnic boundaries, and bring the practitioners together as a community.”

Michael Cooper MP wrote, “Despite the Chinese Communist Party oppression, Falun Dafa transcends cultural and national boundaries, bringing peace of mind to millions across the world. Every day, Falun Dafa adherents are subject to gross human rights abuses, including imprisonment, torture, sexual violence, forced religious conversion, and forced organ harvesting. Despite the oppression, Falun Dafa practitioners have continued to practice their faith which promotes the universal principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance.

“We are fortunate to live in a country where people may speak freely and practice their faith openly without fear of persecution. Unfortunately, in other parts of the world, particularly in the People’s Republic of China, Falun Dafa practitioners do not enjoy the same freedoms. That’s why I will continue to work with Falun Dafa to promote our common values and help expose serious human rights abuses that Falun Dafa practitioners continue to endure. In the end, I am confident that the goodness of Falun Dafa will prevail over the force of oppression and persecution.”

Garnett Genius MP said, “I would like to recognize the Falun Dafa community for the contributions you have made to Canadian society.

“Since the late 1990s, the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners began. The Falun Dafa community has been extremely effective in speaking out about the abuses of the Chinese Communist Party, atrocities they commit, and share the information with those of us in the West. I very much admire the dedication and the important work the Falun Dafa community is doing to advance human rights. Canada must continue to be a place for those persecuted who can seek safe refuge without fear of reprisal or political persecution.
